      I've known about this guy for _years_....yet never seen a single episode of the BBT....or any interview with him. I do remember him from Garden State...and like everyone I've seen those annoying phone commercials he's in(verizon? idk..). But....seeing this interview here, makes me realize he's a very likable guy. He's charming and a natural entertainer. One of those rare people who just shine in front of an audience. He seems like a cool person. :)

    Jim has 3 things in common with Neil Patrick Harris:
    1. They're both gay.
    2. They've both played straight men on a CBS sitcom (How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory respectively)
    3. The same birth year, 1973.

      As an actual liberal, let me just put it this way: Trying to bully religious institutions - civil unions might not be religous, but marriage is - into conforming with state morals about a ceremonial union of two people, isn't conducive to appearing liberal, as is insisting that private businesses do the same. The reason behind government-enforced reform might be liberal, but the method used fundamenally is not. Technically, this does constitute illiberal religious persecution, even with the tax breaks they receive. It would be different if it were the reformation of circumcision, for which I'd be all for state intervention, for obvious moral reasons. Too many 'liberals' make a false equalence, though, of marriage and M/FGM. I bet many leftists would declare the attempt to enforce the reformation of an Amazonian tribe's sexist marriage practices racist, imperialistic, and illiberal. But it doesn't matter, b/c most Christians in the US are 'white oppressors' from a colonial nation, so fuck being liberal to them. It's this suspicious inconsistency in many so-called liberals' principles that gets me. It stems from the 'fight illiberalism with illiberalism' mentality of the far left, which has its strangehold on all the dominant institutions in the west, unfortunately. It's when the ends are deemed justification for the means that leftists are no longer true liberals, and liberalism dies with rapturous applause from their end of the spectrum.

      [civil unions might not be religous, but marriage is]
      No. The original idea of marriage was a social contract on the rights and obligations of people.
      [into conforming with state morals about a ceremonial union of two people, isn't conducive to appearing liberal, as is insisting that private businesses do the same.]
      A union of private enterprises outside of a clan or monarchy is just a contract.
      [I bet many leftists would declare the attempt to enforce the reformation of an Amazonian tribe's sexist marriage practices racist, imperialistic, and illiberal.]
      Which practices of Amazons or Gargareans or young male Scythians? Why would it need to be enforced?
      [It's when the ends are deemed justification for the means that leftists are no longer true liberals, and liberalism dies with rapturous applause from their end of the spectrum.]

    I've been waiting for someone to say this. As a liberal left-winger who's been trying to see the perspective of the right-wing, I've really been trying to understand where everyone else is coming from on political issues instead of just branding everyone as a 'tard' or an 'idiot.'

      +TheZombieoutbreak So you think conservatives hate brown people and think they're all evil rapists. You really should atleast try to understand the arguments of your opponents. I don't see how protecting borders is somehow fearful. I mean there are tens of millions of illegal immigrants in the US. Sovereign nations should protect their borders and yes, 80% of the women who come to the US illegally from Mexico report being raped on the way. Massive amounts of drugs is coming from the border too. Is the US better with its border open or not? The right argues it isn't and honestly as a centrist i have yet to hear a convincing argument from the left why the country is better, because we have border wide open.

    • @stephsdlnthms3957
      @stephsdlnthms3957 7 років тому +36

      That is such a great thing to do! A word of caution though; the right-wing media tends to be a 'little' more conservative than the people they target for their audience. In other words, they make people who are conservative look crazy, when the real people you speak to every day aren't really that bad. It's actually pretty hard to find a centrist news source.
      That being said, I myself am more of a centrist, with both liberal and conservative viewpoints. It's really depressing how everyone thinks they have to be one extreme or the other now. And I personally blame that polarization for how Trump got elected.

    I've done the same thing that Jim Parsons is doing with listening to Republican and conservative news and radio. It's maddening because they are all so incredibly angry all the time and they lie constantly! I had to stop taking that in on a regular basis because it just wasn't healthy!

      It is ridiculous.
      However, THAT IS THE POINT. The liberals deserve a taste of THEIR OWN medicine. Fake outrage over jokes is totally a liberal thing. It's trendy.
      But the real issue is not that it was homophobic; the problem is it's NOT FUNNY.
      You can't just insult Trump and call Trump cliché names and it be funny. The writing is just weak. It's like these writing staffs sit around in a room for 4 straight hours and realize they no longer can come up with good Trump material, so they just call him names. It lacks the intelligence necessary to be funny.

      Factually factually, it is. The implication of saying Trump's mouth is Putin's cock holster is that homosexuality is bad and it makes Trump bad and also homophobes are that way because they're secretly gay, not because they're intolerant. There isn't a single non-homophobic way of reading that "joke."

    Jim Parsons is the only good thing in an otherwise below average show. To be fair, big bang theory was great in its initial seasons when it gained its massive fan base, most of whom are still watching this show including me :)

    • @thebrazilianatlantis165
      @thebrazilianatlantis165 6 років тому +1

      I like all the other actors, but yeah Jim _is_ the reason the show is a success, and it's sad that in the era of reality TV you only have to have one legendary sitcom actor to have a supposedly "great" sitcom. NewsRadio had Phil Hartman and Dave Foley and Andy Dick and Maura Tierney and Stephen Root and couldn't get ratings.

      shubham rakheja - it's true, I recently watched the show again from the start and I was laughing a lot more during the first 3 seasons or so than the later seasons. Nowadays I'm not sure the show can get one good laugh out of me per episode, not sure if a lot of the writers left or something.

    • @FirstnameLastname-gr5kb
      @FirstnameLastname-gr5kb 6 років тому +3

      Shubham Rakheja I watched the first three seasons but after that, it got shitty. It's getting even cringier with time now. Also, I've watched a few UA-cam videos that word very well what bothers me about the show: "the adorkable misogyny of the big bang theory" and such explain it amazingly.

    • @toddvandell85

      @Shubham Rakheja
      Oh, I so totally disagree.
      Jim is great, agreed.
      Kaley Cuoco, for me, is the ONLY reason I ever watched ANY episodes of that silly show.
      The episode where I think it was Jim's character Sheldon's birthday?
      And Kaley wore that killer green mini dress with the very deep V front and very obviously no bra and obviously no need for pantyhose on her perfectly tan legs?
      I tuned everything and everyone else out and watched only her.
      Kaley was the only reason to ever watch that show for me.
      Whether they gave her character Penny a last name or not.
      Screen meltingly hot.
      Just one person's opinion.
      My two cents.

    • @redbloodbluemoon1423
      @redbloodbluemoon1423 2 роки тому

      Umm, nope. The show never went bad. The characters development was magnificent in the show. Considering it's a sitcom, along with comedy, the character development won me over. Plus, the first season onwards, the show only gets better and better, and delivers a perfect finale.
