Nice channel Paul. I just sold my X-T30 and X-E4 and bought myself a new X-T30II mainly to use with my OM Zuiko manual lenses with a Metabones X-OM adapter. In the T30 I could not store the lensname and in the E-4 you have to enter all lensnames again when you edit a new Custom setting. I am currently filling new Custom modes in the T-30 II.
Interesting question. I tested it myself (red is not my favourite) only thing I can point is that you did not switch the manual focus button to "m". Have you tried focussing with red (high) with f/4?
Question about using MF with a Fujifilm X lenses: does the MF drain battery faster than AF? I can hear the focusing being electronically adjusted when I turn the focus ring on my 27mm 2.8 lens.
That is an excellent question as I normally shoot Manual with non AF lenses, but since i own the 27mm I'll give it a go in the coming weeks. Will revert back
If I use a manual lens that doesn't have electronics and so doesn't show aperture in viewfinder will auto iso (with manual shutter and aperture set) technique still work?
I have several adapters for this camera. I use a Canon EF 85mm 1.8 and a Sigma EX DC HSM 30mm (both with a nice adapter that converts autofocus and aperture signals), a plastic Holga with EF mount lens, several Minolta MC/MD lenses and last but not least my secret weapon is a Tair 11a 110mm with a M42 mount which has 20 blades and is a bokeh monster.
Wow 20 blades need to look into that one :) one issue i have with the m42 adapters is that the aperture on the lenses doesn't work. Can you recommend an adapter that supports the lens (the aperture is controlled via little pin)
Thanks for sharing your settings. I've asked many people this already, I'm nearly convinced it's not possible now.. When we have a "supported" lens (with electronic contacts), and we try to manual focus, a zoomed window pops up on screen when we play with the focus ring. I guess there's no way to set a button to do that using a manual only focus lens? Many thanks.
Unfortunately there isn't. I tried but I couldn't get it. I think it has to do with the fact that you change the AF to MF when pushing the lever on the front. Shoot without lens in the setting. I could not get the setting you refer to on any of the function button
@@PaulTakesPhotos Thanks so much for taking the time to attempt this. It's a bit of a shame that Fujifilm won't provide this feature. My XT-30's (mk1) LCD is okay, but not high-res enough to nail the focus without the pixel-by-pixel feedback.
Ive got a GFX50r. It cant store lensname or whatever. It does have similar option called mount adpter, but it just wont work, every settings inside is grey out. It's so weird. I guess just that fuji software have no consistency😂

It makes a big difference being able to store lens profiles :) 😜
A very helpful video , just what I need, thank you so much!
Glad that it helped you! Thank you for the positive feedback, keeps me going
i choose focus peak highlgiht then red high. but the screen doesn't show any red on focus. what am I messing?

It does but does have some quirks. I normale shoot auto shutter, iso at 400 or. 800 and let the aperture ring determine the exposure.

You sure you are dialed in on "M"?
@@PaulTakesPhotos Yep , it is really confused.
Great video :) is there a leica lens which is as small as the XF 27mm f2.8 Fuji pancake or slightly bigger?
Good question. There is an 18mm on their aps-c mount but that one is hard to get
Im using a cheep adapter and Olympus Suiko lenses on my xt30 and an xt1 lovely results.......
Older glass does render a lot of character 👍❤️
