After a lot of watching, I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s the boots that make this uniform awkward to wear. The shape of these boots are not good for walking. They seem to cause the soldier to walk with an awkward gait which throws off their military posture and bearing.
They have to walk with their legs apart to prevent the tops of the boots catching each other as they walk. If the tops were cut away on the medial side, this problem would not occur.

Pobre caballito ,y la gente molestosa
Please keep the comments polite folks. No need to be nasty.
The parent Basically should know they're in the way....
Do people take it as a tourist attraction when the Guards shout???
I think so.
She did. You can see the parent knew and walked out of the way.
But young girl who was more focused on the horse thought her mom is going somewhere else so she followed and got in the way.
Exactly. People should pay attention. They all know guards are walking there. Mom could grab her child and move her out of the way. If that child was on the path of a bike or a car I am sure mom would pull her out of the way in no time.
Some comments here are practically suggesting guards should circle around everybody instead of shouting.
And no, child would not be traumatized if guard did stop and shouted.
Seems weird to have female guards.
As along female guards like her, pass qualified entry examination and complete through all training and passed final exams.
The Guard has respect for unknowing child ~ it's the stupidity of the parents for not paying attention to their surroundings or for the safety of their children.
It's that maternal instinct, probably feed the enemy too🙄
Poor horses feet can’t take standing in that hard concrete no more
Do you only come here to complain about the "poor horses' feet?" This has been has been going on since Ancient Rome paved its streets and will be going on for centuries more. Don't watch if it bothers you.
They're horses not snowflakes, they can handle it for an hour
I bet she would get in trouble for that.
Not at all.
For showing sound judgement and not knocking a child over? What would have been the public repercussions if the guard had bowled that child over?
@@mh53j nothing. Theirs a video online of guard's running over a child. The American tourist complained to the ministry of defence and they said the soldiers warned the child but the child ran In front of them.

GONE WRONG!!!!
I agree
I know it is an unusual and interesting sigjt but folks seem to treat the horses and guards as freaks instead of having respect. There is a reason for the sign warning that horses can bite or kick.
I'm curious as to what the guards talk about.
Why dont they put up a sign not to touch the horse
Some kids need to be shouted at , but not all 🙂 . This one was rather young to be shouted at, but mum was a bit too far away. I think if I had been the guard, I would have said, "Make way for the King's Guard", quietly, to make the point without frightening such a young child.
The Guard DO NOT STOP for anyone...THIS is a sign of things to come..the child should NOT be there..and the Guard SHOULD have gone on their way....
True 👍
Don't allow people's near these horses every day people's gatherings like a shopping mall.i feel sorry for these gaurds to accept these people's every day.😪😫
There Really should be rules about people interfering with the King's Gaurd !! Included horse's they are working to!!
What was that first woman doing with her elbow? 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️.
Because the horse's face was too close and bothering her she was nudging it away
But the horse was saying to her piss off
I think she was afraid the horse would bite her hand. 🤷🏼♀️
@@lisaferrara8120 and if it did, it's her own fault there's a sign saying they could bite but people still insist on being so close to the horse
@@kayleighmcgee6289 yes, of course, horse wasn’t happy and rightly so…I was just thinking her selfie will have looked a bugger. Stupid woman should have kept her distance.
The horse is saying get away from me.
I’m not a misogynist, nor a racist, but a female guard ???!!! I am however surprised that, in these mad days of ‘equality ‘, the guard doesn’t have a sun tan and only one good leg !
What do you mean by "sun tan" ?
guards there are not doing a fast march and are more flexible there in where they walk. shouting would have spooked the horse too and the guard is there to ensure horse and rider are both ok plus the mum went forward to move and protect the child . good parenting
Who was the bloke stading with what looked like the terminators hand from the first movie lol
Poor horse it's meant to be ridden not standing for hours my god people keep away
Having a human on their back isn't natural for them , but as for the part of standing for hours that's what horses do anyway they walk around eating grass and shrubs or just stand around when they don't want to walk.
I believe they are changed every hour
Only one hour per day.
What are they guarding? Tourists need to keep back.
I hate seeing guards shout and even walk on vulnerable people...esp children.
what these guys and the horses have to put up with..urg...
I think the guards would be more intimidating and impressive if there were a minimum height for them.
They let women in now so a lot of them are short and fat.
@@annoyingbstard9407 There are plenty of tall, strong women, they are not all short and fat! Sadly though the shorter the stature the less powerful and intimidating the impression.
It wouldn't look good if she knocked over a little kid.......
They are supposed to move out the way for the guard not the other way round
@@tricia4900 It's not the point, kids don't know any different.
The parent that should be standing with them does though. If it’s not your country then learn the etiquette and rules of the places you plan to visit. Tell your children if they are old enough to understand. In a place like this with strange people, guards, horses and a very busy London road right there you cannot be complacent. Be aware. Switch your brain on and look after your children. So many parents use the ‘my child doesn’t understand’ card. I’ve had four of my own. I’ve taken 36 brownies around central London. So many parents are absolute mouth breathers and need to wake up.
@@dazza9326 Kids not, but parents must do, and they are responsible for their children. If something happened to the child, the parent will be responsible, not guard who do his job.
@@NailHeavenAshford Get off your high horse Miss Akela, it's a bloody child for Christ sake. How do you think it would look if the Guard knocked her flying infront of so many people watching and taking Vids? If my child were to be knocked flying, I would have chinned the Guard, wheres you humanity....... I served for many years in the British Army and know right from wrong.
They will go out of their way to not frighten kids. It's the grown ass adults mindlessly milling about that they have no time for.
it's now a king's guard so he might have asked them to be polite rather than shouting like hell 😂
They shout at the dum tourist who have apparently no manners what so ever

I just noticed something in this video , the horse seems to use the guard post as their outhouse, let's just hope they do not ever have the need for pepto bismol.
Well that shows how your mind works... All about shit.
I love these video's and have a lot of respect for the guards, horses and traditions but I do however have a problem with knocking people down. I have seen guards not say anything, people have their backs to them and knocking some elderly down and even a child over. They would have to have a very high public liability insurance. It makes me wonder if the King or even the Queen ( I still miss her terribly ) was ever aware of it.
Don't know why people have to bug the horses
Which palace is it?
Is it in London?
Horse Guards Parade in London
This is Saint James Palace the Monarchs Official Residence in London.
Ambassadors are appointed to the Court of Saint James not Buckingham Palace. One of the many quirks in British traditions 😆 🤣 .
@@johnangus9154 This is not? St. James’s Palace is a different place.
@@Neonik93 Sorry this is the official entrance to the Palace, now used for entrance to Horse Gaurds parade, formally the Royal Gardens. The modern entrance (for want of a better word) is apparently 100 yards up Whitehall which was originally a side entrance directly opposite Whitehall Palace Banqueting Hall. This is actually the only part of the old Whitehall Palace that still exists, unless you count the undercroft beneath the M.O.D buildings.

Move to Japan if you don't like women being in military. How stupid‼
@@deadghost1964 I think there's a time & place, as indeed for males. Japan does employ many females the difference being generally they are slim and fit. We really just need the best people for the job but since white males are no longer wanted due to diversity quotas this is what we end up with. 10% of the Armed Forces 'excused boots' Magaret has a point. Other than musicians I think the Japanese tend to not mix genders as it disrupts sizing. Chinese likewise, so they look very smart. ua-cam.com/video/nyWIhMwkESE/v-deo.html

The guard won't normally shout at small children, all it would achieve is making the child cry,was told this by a friend that was in the household cavalry (the same as the guards in this video),
After a lot of watching, I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s the boots that make this uniform awkward to wear. The shape of these boots are not good for walking. They seem to cause the soldier to walk with an awkward gait which throws off their military posture and bearing.
Because they are riding boots to protect the legs in battle!
You don’t know a whole lot do you look up where you Americans got the tune for your national anthem ? It’s a British DRINKING SONG LOL.
I did not intend disrespect. I was just making an observation of the boots and the way the foot part effects their walking.
They have to walk with their legs apart to prevent the tops of the boots catching each other as they walk. If the tops were cut away on the medial side, this problem would not occur.
now the clown guard has also ladies.. she did not step on the kid because she is also tiny
and because she may cause public to badly interfere. clever moment reaction.
Some of the guards are lovely Which is what I'm always banging on about .But I always get people answering me very negatively If I criticism the guards who are aggressive and grumpy .They are there as a tourist attraction and for state occasions. We don't use horses in battles anymore .Every country is envious of our heritage and the preservation of beautiful historic buildings .But I still think its a long an hour I think for these horses to stand in a sentry box .The rider has a choice but the horse hasn't.
I think it's 20 minutes. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
@@lorie4913 lol 😆 that was only at Queen vigil 🤦♀️
The rider doesn't have a choice in the real sense of the word.
When it is their turn for duty they have to follow orders.
And for the horse.
If it didn't want to do the job it would play up and be taken off that duty.
These horses are some of the most pampered looked after horses on the planet.
