Never heard of this band before, but I really liked them. Their sound reminded me of a lot of 90's bands around the Nu Metal era, but that vocalist is something else. Seriously gave me chills.

This is Skin's voice, and she's incredible. She sounds like this live, too. I saw them play a few weeks ago in Brixton, London. She has a very classical voice, she's been on stage performing with Pavarotti. You should definitely check out "Secretly" to really hear how amazing her voice is, although there's a lot from them that's great. And you're right about the intent of this song and video, it is hard to watch.
i remember blasting this album all summer, while playing tomb raider on my very VERY old computer. i must've been around 14. what a blast from the past! good times.

Skunk actually managed to capture fans from different genres in the UK, not something that used to happen at all until the new millennium. Indie rockers & metalheads actually got Skunk as the headlining act @ the Glastonbury Festival, we didn't see that coming @ the time
Cass Lewis is incredible on bass. It doesn't really show through on this track, but if you delve deeper into their catalog you'll hear it. "Twisted (Everyday Hurts)" is a good example. Skunk Anansie is one of those bands that should've been a *lot* bigger than they ever got. They are still making music together today, with the exception of original drummer Robbie France who passed away in 2012.

Sick fucking drummer, Dobber Beverly (Insect Warfare) and other musicians who are both oldschool metal and modern. There are some dragging parts I hate, when some parts keep going on for some time, but it's a good pay off in the end, worth the trip. It could have had a guitar solo, but that's fine. Please do check this song, its really cool!!

I've been a fan since the beginning too, my favorite album has always been Issues and flat out this is their best album since Issues if not surpassing it. Essentials is all about opinion. Everyone has different taste in music. Not a bad song but I kind of felt the same way Vin did. Some of these songs didn't have that wow factor. Should be one more left for tonight and Im keeping my fingers crossed of who I think it might be.

Public, but they are much more known than Skunk Anansie, and I know King's X are well thought of in at least England, in some circles. I like tons of bands outside the US. Most of my extensive CD collection are non-US bands. Opeth, Blind Guardian, Within Temptation, Threshold, Myrath, Serenity, Jorn, Sonata Arctica, Gotthard, Nightmare, Riverside, DGM, Persefone, Diabulus in Musica, etc etc.
I think this lady would use that kind of "cookie monster", as you put it :D sound, if she could, but dont really think she can, based on the singing technique she seems to be using, and because of the nu metal genre style :) If your interested in some Jinjer songs, where Tatiana does not use that growl voice, i recommend: Bad Water, or Beggars Dance! Barely a minute in but someone clearly mislabelled them to you. They're rock/alt rock, but not really hard rock and certainly not Metal. Skin (vocals) has featured on two metal recordings (Licking Cream with Sevendust and Tony Iommi's 2000 solo album "Iommi" on the track Meat) but far from metal otherwise. In fact, this is probably the heaviest track they've ever done.
She doesn't do the cookie monster vocals cos she can sing and they are great band and not nu-metal. Typical Vin who thinks he knows everything and is wrong hahaha. She never does cookie monster vocals
They are still recording and skin is still a top notch vocalist, the band have a very political message and they put that message straight into your face. You should definitely check out there entire back catalogue it’s right up your street, especially songs like weak, on my hotel tv , and yes it’s fu**ing political, They were huge in the uk and Europe in the 90s has a bit of a break and then come back with 3 awesome albums that were a little calmer but still had a message. The original Evanescence! Her voice was always incredibly diverse and amazing. Loved that collab with Lajon from Sevendust too on the Home album
