I made one using a GM A6 comp and a gas engine. It fills my tank to 150 PSI in about 30 seconds and will run multiple air tools all day long. The pressure switch engages the electric clutch on the A6 below 120PSI; off at 150PSI. I also have a 175 PSI safety valve and an intake air filter. If you want it to last you need to lube the pistons too. Some AC comp (like the A6) have a sump that needs to be oil filled, others need an oil mister on the intake and an oil separator on the outlet.
Several years ago I built one like this with a Ford / Tecumseh compressor. It also worked pretty well, but it pumped a lot of oil into the air tank. Daily, I had to add oil to the compressor, and drain the oil from the tank. The motor was a 3 HP Baldor motor, and the compressor was turning a lot faster than the one in your video. It got VERY hot in a short time. I used it for years though!
davida1hiwaaynet thinking to buy a compressor of A/C. thinking to make my own air conditioning. any suggestions? i heard some coolant has to be added inside the pipes. do you think one can make on his own?
I used this compressor to install an auxiliary pneumatic output on a service car, very efficient , relatively easy to install, wire and plumb ..and so handy
AlwaysFreeAmerica i used to use impact tools air chisels sanders and a air grinder i dont think it would keep up with a sand blaster tho thos use air like no tomorrow lol it used to be at my old hot rod shop b4 i moved =3-
What's the Ford air screw design? Is that what they call the York (aluminum) or Tecumseh (iron) design? Neat, looking to convert my air compressor to gas engine since more cost effective than the motors. Though am wondering about using free treadmill motors also as a cost effective source.
i have also used the electric cluch but i left it on the car and used it as a PTO air compressor..the mopar style comp has a sump but the ford style needs to be oiled i just perioticly put some oil in the inlet not much come out the other side belevit or not ive even cheeked the tank =3-
geoffrey walker u would think so but this compressor is from the 70s and it ant hert yet and the compressor was many years old b4 it was taken apart for something else i still have the head and it still works but i understand were ur coming from =3-
hahaha ironicaly this is how i found out about them i used to use one to fill my air shoks and it was faster than those profes set ups weird that u say that the chrysler is hard to find but the ford air screw is easy and abundant and its better b\c the screw style dosent creat asmuch as the piston style =3-
@@xoxoXoieoxox Wow. You build something to add oil through the air intake or it gets all the oil through its oil sump? As far as i understood not all ac compressors have an internal sump.
@ this one has wet sump and some times i squert some oil in the compressors intake

@@xoxoXoieoxox Thank you very much. I will try to build one. I expect it to be quieter than piston compressors but it is hard to judge the sound it while listening videos. Is it a lot quieter?
you should hook air tank up to an air piston motor. a challenge to build one and drive your go carts around. When you see it works you can build one for your car... I have designs for one on my you tube channel....never pay for fossil fuels again... hope this brings a good day to the world around....or use it to run a generator
+Dana Bidlake i have a wood gas car i all ready dont have to buy gas and i live in a forest and the gov comes thew and trims the trees away from the power lines and they give me the wood so i dont even have to cut it down but any alternative power is valuable =3-

Nice work, I have always liked these Chrysler compressors--they are a stout little piece of iron.
How long does it take for the tank to fill up?
nice V Twin compressor!, never seen them here in Australia!, only the York inline twins (also a solid little unit!)
Man it's strange coming across Aussie50 comments on youtube years after he's gone. r.i.p

thnks.actually i graduated r.a.c 5yrs ago but i forgot d other info bcause after igraduate ive work us a welder here in my country:(
Very good
wow! very interesting! how many liters/minute it makes?
u know i dont really know but it keeps up with all my air tools so it must be fairly high =3-
+xoxoXoieoxox Please define "Your air tools" HVLP Paint gun? Sandblaster? Or just a little air chuck.

Where can I get that other ford compressor? Sounds powerful.
@0JThomps0 this type of a\c compressor comes on 80's ford f-seres trucks happy hunting =3-
@PovertyLabs i know i didnt even try and it has no mufflers of any kind lol =3-
ya its a touf pice but it dosent work as good as the ford air screw but i still use it b\c it has the wet sump =3-
nice build. you should really invest in an intake air filter though. youll ruin it otherwise.

Now i know how to compress my hydrogen gas i a tank
so what is the correct spin direction
clock wise as most engines are anti-clockwise off power take off side
Can it be used as an hpa compressor? How many psi can you get?
it will go well over 200psi
How are you lubricating the AC compressor?.
its a wet sump =)
@@xoxoXoieoxox supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
I would like to make my own compressor, but mine is the other kind will it work
try it
Hiiii.. could you please tell me.. how much pressure this A/C compressor can reach upto ???
i personaly have had it over 225psi b4 but then the lines started to bloat and i stoped lol =)
How did you convert to a clutchless pulley
take the cluch apart and bolt the front plate straite to the pully
or weld the clutch to the pulley

just keep oil in the compressor
@koertje see i knew the people would like it =3-
can u use impacts using this
+johnnie white i have i see no reason u cant =3-
Thank you very much. You still use it ?
its on the pto of a tractor right now =)

@ quietest compresor i ever had
I hear banjo music...
I thought I heard a pig squeal.
What did the compressor come off of
70s era mopar they all use the same compresor
I'm having problems finding one like that one I can find the single cylinder one

I don’t think the ford is a air screw compressor, I can't find a source for that.
i think your right it just looked like it i have since been educated but i cant change the video lol =)

how much bar?
