loved it. how you simplified everything makes it seem so easy! btw if it's interesting to you, i think forscore has a layers function in annotation so you can set different annotations to different layers and they aren't affected by erase/copy etc...
Jeremy I really appreciate how approachable you make jazz and jazz composition/improv (composition in real time). Love it. I’m looking forward to your books in the near future (on my 50th BD gift list)
I'm so glad you like this. It hasn't been my most popular youtube video.. 🤷♂️ But I will see about doing this for some more song forms in the future - definitely ABAC.
What a great video man.. wow. I remember a few years ago when I started studying this I couldn't find any video about this topic. I gasped when I saw the title lol. Do you think the old songwriters knew what they were doing, or it was a subconsciously thing?
I'm so glad you liked it, Daniel. I do my best to read minds - sometimes it works better than others. 😂 Do people know what they're doing? I think people take in inputs and then naturally get outputs without necessarily being master "theorists." So I don't want to say they "don't know what they're doing" like they're just stumbling around in the dark and getting lucky, but I'm not sure they were all totally conscious of each step.
Misty! I feel like you should b Clint Eastwood at this point. Seriously though this video is very helpful and pitched just perfectly for my stage of development. Thank You.
Very good lesson. The result was very good also. I am glad you called it writing a tune, and not a composition. Composition is such a pompous term. If it had lyrics it would be writing a "song". I write many "songs" in this style.
Literally looking for advice on arranging/composing and here you are! Thanks as always Jeremy
I’ve been investing in that mind-reading technology lately and it sounds like it’s paying off! 😝

Ah! I need to mess around more with layers. That’s really smart - thank you!

Nice! Wishing you an early happy 50th. That’s a big one! Remember - if you want an autographed copy, have “Santa” order from my website.
Great to watch this as we're thinking about the. brilliant songwriter/composer Burt Bacharach(+94). Thank you, Jeremy. In a Mist and oh so Misty.😎🌹😎
RIP Burt! “In a Mist and Oh so Misty on a Misty night”?
….”Mister”!
Thank you, Jeremy! I love this lesson. Looking forward to part 2! (After I re-watch part 1 a couple times!)
You're welcome! Part 2 is going to be wild...we're going to have a fully written tune in no time!
Great tutorial, Jeremy. Definitely going to try this. Look forward to the next one. Thanks.
Nice! I look forward to hearing your new AABA tunes!
This was such a good video, Jeremy! You did a really great job breaking down the process and making this feel accessible.
I'm glad you liked it, Matt! It's not my most popular UA-cam video, but hopefully it's still providing value. 🤷♂️
Very inspiring. Looking forward to the melody writing segment to come
Great! You won't be disappointed...if you like watching a person write melodies! 😀
Amazing to see your workflow! Could you do similar tutorials on different song forms? No information on that on UA-cam

Just the video I’ve been looking for! Thanks Jeremy!
Oh cool! I'm happy to hear that. Not too many people watched this one, so I'm glad it's useful for you! (and do check out part 2!)

Great video! What app are you using to annotate/write on the screen?

Thanks, Trevor! I guess anything that's "composed" is a composition, but I like just thinking about writing a "tune." It's a little more casual.
nice😎
Thanks, Theo! Looking cool in those shades...
It's spelled "Abba."
Hey-o!
