Who'd want to cum in another man's coffee?

For anyone wondering why the headlights are doing that it's because the control unit uses a pulse width modulator to control the headlights and that means that the lights are technically flickering at an extremely fast rate and that coincides with the frame rate of the camera in a way that makes it look like it's flickering like that

I have the overdrive version of this transmission in my f 450 behind my 12 valve cummins. I have the fso-6406a in my truck and have been running it for 6 or so years with not one issue. I had some challenges putting it in my old 97 ram 3500 and getting it to fit but I have not had to take it out or rebuild it since. About 2 years ago I built my f450 and installed the 12 valve and the Eaton in that and it has made two trips back and forth from new York to san diego no issues. You can also find a sae2 adapter plate with the starter on the passenger side that is what I'm running. Awesome to see another guy do this swap!

Seriously though ford builds the best cabs.
I attempted to do a conversion to my Ford F800 hauler and I never found the exact 6 speed fuller I was looking for. I wanted an overdrive model. I ended up putting a Fuller RTO9513 behind my 8.3 Cummins. That's a 13 speed with 1 overdrive. These are the simplest transmissions to work on. Complete teardown/overhaul manuals for each model makes it easy. I overhauled mine by myself. My 8.3 was a p-pump model with about 50 hp added. I had about 260 hp total. Before turning the fuel a little it was a dog. The internal mass of gears you are spinning all the time eats up power quick with 9, 10, and 13 speeds, even with the 8.3 for power. Complete transmission setup weighed 1200 lbs. You don't want to drive a dual range transmission everyday. A 6 speed like this can be fit to a regular style transfer case if a person has a machinist friend to help. Pro Gear in Florida helped me with part numbers because I could not find anyone that had ever done the 13 speed conversion. I used a SAE 2 bellhousing and a 14" x 1 3/4" two disk pull type clutch with no issues at all. Clutch part number CCA-9724. I used flywheel 3908574-04 with ring gear 3908546. I can't find the starter number but it was stock for the 1997 F800 with Cummins 8.3. Truck weighed 14,750 and my trailer at 15k. Truck pulled decent but a stock 6.7 with Aisin would kick its butt. A 5.9 is not big enough for a 9, 10, or 13 speed. Later transmissions will be very big compared to my 9513 that was already too big. Do the research guys. Get a version with helical cut gears. My straight cut gears were loud. There are hundreds of variations of these transmissions when you go to the Eaton Fuller website with crazy gear ratio options. Fuller has a great website and grimmjeeper.com has the gear ratio calculator. You can never research these one off projects too much.
I have actually seen the NP205 gear drive tranfer case clocked a few degrees from level to lower the amount of drop to help a little with clearance. For guys wanting a right side feed divorced t-case, in 1974 Dodge used a NP205 right side feed that was divorced. I am using one of those behind a NV4500 to power chevrolet axles.

See this truck all the time around Fruitland road and on the QEW Sweet rig never knew it had an Eaton. Nice work!
Also a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. Great video as usual. Just a piece of advice. Eaton Fuller makes an FSO-6406 the (O) being OD with a final 6th gear ratio of .75 :1
The trans model number breaks down lke this:
Fuller Synchronized - 640 ft lbs - 6 speed.
Hope this helps. I have a 99 F800 with a 5.9 Im swapping the FS6406 to an FSO6406 to gain the OD. Got it on Ebay. Check often there are still plenty out there. You can also convert an FS to an FSO with some doing. Its not a really hard tranny to rebuild.

I always chuckle at your videos cos we have the exact same hairstyle. Think it goes with the jobs lol
Very smooth shifting for such a big transmission.
Yup I like using the clutch to shift my pickup and in my work truck 10spd I like to float.
An Eaton 2 speed rear end would be neat in that. You can get them with the electric shifter.
To convert the fs5406 to overdrive you have to swap the input shaft and Swap out 3 gears 1 on the main shaft and 2 on the counter shaft and that converts it but your shift pattern is backwards in 5th and 6th. You have to swap some parts from a fso6406 shift housing to fix the pattern
This is a great style of video. Looks like fun. Large 2 cream too plz
My factory installed 6 speed on 2011 Ram 2500 works pretty good!
For the clutch issue, I would give South Bend Clutch a call.
South bend is the way to go in my honest opinion
damn when you said Eaton Fuller I was thinking there would be some splitters or range change in there!
That SAE2 bell/motor plate will not fit into a 1st gen without deleting the heat and AC to allow cutting the firewall about 6 in up past the trans tunnel. Found this out when installing a medium duty Allison 1000 6 Speed. Im loving the dubble over drive. 55mph(88kph) is 1250rpm in 6th 100kph(62mph) 1425rpm.
I went with a CA Conversations motorplate wiring and computer, and had the trans built to 1800tq by Hulon Fox Transmission in Dallas tx.
The 10 or 13 spd trans swap does fit in a dodge frame pretty well. I have a 98.5 2500 with a eaton 13spd overdriven trans. It fit in pretty well with a little bit of a body lift. And with a dual disc havent had a slippage issues and it has 7 liters of CAT in front of it. I thought about going the same route with a six speed eaton but when you find a 13 for cheap why not? Never the less great swap and looks great.
Sounds like a great transplant, I'm curious which transmission did you use? Pn#?
Nice, I put a Eaton Fuller FSO-6406a in my F350. Even manged to do it with no lift. I am now running a divorced NP205 were my carrier bearing used to be.

What did you do for the clutch release
@@WeldWerx made a bracket that mounted on the side of the transmission to use a puller cylinder from eastwood plumbed into my stock master cylinder. I drilled the stock lever that activates the clutch to mount the other side of the cylinder.
I drive a road tractor and have been very interested in putting a medium nonsynced transmission in a light duty, I would prefer a 13 speed though, drives like a 8 speed usually but you can split the top end and they have a fantastic triple over drive.
A triple over drive in a pickup would send it flying down a race track. I wouldn't be surprised if that could hit 150mph.
same trans I have in my 75 F250 cummins, you can switch them to OD pretty easy. change input shaft, countershaft drive gear and you swap the gearset that used to be 5th that becomes your now 6th OD
You can swap some parts out in the shift housing from a fso6406 to fix your shift pattern
Drove a wildland engine over the summer. International cab/chassis, Cummins with a manual 6 speed. 1100 gallons of water 4x4. THAT needed the 10 speed! For a Dailey driver and that year where it’s gcvw isn’t more then 18Klbs? I bet the 6 speed is plenty. Good mileage! My woreout 04 duramax only gets 17mpg at best. I’m looking at building my own type 6 wildland engine from a dodge 5500, very tempted to do this swap. Thanks for the video!

Yes, my bone stock (other than exhaust) early '04 305/555 with the stock 6 speed does exactly the same thing.
It's worse when your climbing a hill with a load on with your foot in it.
You have to let off the fuel before putting in the clutch....
Good ol 28MT. Threw one in my military 6.2 and I swear it had more torque than the engine itself did.

Allisonn trans gave my buddy problems 5 times in a row due to upgraded turbo, now I know what to tell him to do!
Love your show man!
A question if I may
Is surface rust beneath the dashboard always means it's a flooded car? I really hope you post a detailed episode about spotting a flood damaged Vehicle especially trucks soon.
Kind regards
no.. components inside the cab of just about all vehicles dont get painted because they usually dont get any weather on them and this is how the manufacturers save money. if its rusty is usually atmospheric moisture from wherever the vehicle lived.
Yep, 10spd overdrive (reversed 4th and 5th) is what needs to go in the Ford behind the cat.
Honestly i prefer the simplicity of trucks. You can specifically build a truck to suit your lifestyle. Exactly what im doing with a 1966 ford f250 i found hardly a mile from our shop on the way to a job. I hardly ever noticed it where the guy had parked it. He wanted a $4k enclosed trailer for the truck, so i bought him a trailer lol! Keep looking there out there!
Cool truck! No overdrive needed since 1st is so slow. Just need bigger tires or change the axle ratio.
Hey awesome video as always. I bet that old goat has low kms lol.. anyways I got a question, what SAE flywheel housing did you use? I didn't think that the older ISB 24 valve housings would fit the common rail? dodge common rail is quite different than the industrial common rail, (industrial common rail versions have the gears on the back of the eng and not allowing the SAE housing to be installed on a dodge common rail) any help would be greatly appreciated, Hello from Newfoundland. keep the videos coming.
I had my lights flashing like that and changed out the FCM Front Control Module, it is right by the fuse panel under the hood and that fixed it

What....us 4 wheelers have been doing hockey puck lifts for decades in SoCal. 🤣
I run a 05 Dodge Ram 3500 with the NV5600 six speed with a Pac brake exhaust brake in it.
305hp, 555 lb/ft torque. HO for 03 and 04.
I have an 04 with nv5600, stock no tuner. I'm debating on G56 or Eaton w/overdrive. The gear spacing in the 5600 always felt strange, so I guess I need to drive the other two (with 24v and 4.10 gear) to see which is best. With Eaton, I would need to source t-case also.
Manual transmissions are all right but I'm not a big fan for pickup trucks. I have an FS 5406 behind a 12 valve and it's nice but my 48re built with an override manual lockup is waaay badass in comparison. I tow heavy with both.
He needs a Fabco transfer case out of an 80s International S1800 4x4.

That's the only problem just not 4 wheel drive

Love the video. I could not quite understand what type of pto cable was used for a clutch cable. I am building a Chevy with a Cummins and want to install an Eaton 6 speed and love the idea of the cable. What pto cable was used to make it work?
Another fine use for hockey pucks.
I put a 9 speed in my 96 back in 2000 u can still start out in 7 th gear unless you are tractor pulling 6 spd is good but you can find a 6spd od Eaton but they are hard to find
Awesome! like a semi shift... you have to unload the driveline before the shift:)
The air is very simple on the 10 speed. You could use a train horn sir tank and run one air line to the trans and run the 2 small lines to the splitter. Simple. But agree 10 is a little much.
Nice!! Seems like a great guy!
That dude just seems super chill lol I
I know he's probably figured it out by now, but I worked on an International medium duty crane truck that was a 6x6. I don't remember what the trans was other than it was manual, but it had an ISB (it couldn't get out of its own way with the weight of the crane and weights).
The good old game the good old game, hockey pucks for the body lift. Are you going to have a meet up this summer ? I couldn't make it last summer.
After putting a tune on my '04 24 valve Cummins, and pulling a heavy equipment trailer with a skid-steer on it, I couldn't keep a clutch in it. Running the NV5600 trans, the stock clutch gave up at 60K miles. Went with an aftermarket clutch that was supposed to solve the problems...... next clutch at 110K miles. Then, after talking to the shop mechanic at the company I drove for, discovered a little company called VALAIR in Mineral Wells,TX. I had them install their ceramic/kevlar single disc clutch. It has a 3400# pressure plate and is rated for 500HP/1000TQ. I've now got 238K on the truck and have had no clutch problems. Valair makes clutches for just about anything. They specialize in big truck clutches and pickups. This guy with the Eaton 6 speed might want to check them out....since his clutch is fading away....
