So glad to see that you reacted to the fan video of the Nature part of the album. It's apparently been seen by Toumas and he liked it so much it's used at the Nightwish exhibition at their museum in Kitee, Finland. It's a shame it's not past 90k views, I think whoever edited those videos together with the music did an excellent work!
In the video to Music, the instrument that is shown is one of the Lyres of Ur, the second oldest string instruments ever found (three lyres and one harp was discovered) in a cemetery in the ancient city of Ur (located in what is now Iraq) dated to around 2550-2450 BCE so roughly 4500 years old. Two can be seen restored in The British Museum in London and the biggest one in the Iraq museum in Baghdad. It's also such a cool concept to start the song with the sounds of the Universe turned into music and then transfer to nature sounds before the first human made sounds and the lyrics sung from the viewpoint of music itself.
In the Anthropocene part of the Nature disc, Toumas has added a short part of the "Hurrian hymn to Nikkal" the oldest song ever discovered in the ancient city of Ugarite, located in Northern Syria. It was inscribed in Cuneiform on clay tablets and dates to around 1400 BCE. The entire piece can be heard on YT ua-cam.com/video/tAc2KDNHEw4/v-deo.html in case you're interested

Great job doing the new record like this. All at once. Many of the chorus' have all three singing together. Pan is definitely one of my favorites. This one about the human imagination and our need to create stories. The World Wildlife Fund named a nature reserve in Mexico after Nightwish. Floor and the boys will be visiting when they finally tour and play in Mexico. "Endlessness" basically touches upon how Tuomas and some of the members envision the spiritual side of life and how it ends or continues cyclically. "That silent unseen stream". Hopefully Marko will participate in the virtual shows in May. It would be a shame to not have a live performance from Marko on this song. So deep and unique.

Hi Jim Games Live, great reaction. As always :)
PAN! There are so many allusions to literature and movies etc. hidden in this song. Here's a list:
    1. winds will be named is an allusion to Patrick Rothfuss' book The name of the wind. Which Toumas has read. The Kingslayer trilogy.
    2. to fallen stars, to there and back might be a reference to J.R.R. Tolkiens Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit. Bilbo writes a book with the title There and back again.
    3. Tír na nÓg (Old Irish: Tír na n-Oc - tʲiːɾˠ n̪ˠə ˈn̪ˠoːɡˠ freely translated about Land of Eternal Youth) is one of the most famous mystical places of the afterlife in Irish-Celtic mythology.
    4. A pale blue theatre stage: our earth.
    5. Something wicked this way comes is a quote from the first scene of the fourth act of the drama "Macbeth" by William Shakespeare.
    6. The title of the song itself: In ancient Greek religion and mythology, Pan is the god of the wild, shepherds and flocks, nature of mountain wilds, rustic music and impromptus.
    7. Snow Glass Apples is a short story written by Neil Gaiman, a retelling of Snow White.
    8. The Sea Lady is a story written by H.G. Wells.
    9. Maybe the line an ape in awe before a door is an allusion to Arthur C. Clark's 2001 Space Odyssey when the Great Monolith appears But I am not sure about that.
This song is pure genius...as always.
    10. Keystone Earth is a reference to The Dark Tower series from Stephen King.
It is quite possible that we do not have everything or that we are wrong in some points. Anyone who can contribute something is welcome to correct me :)
Please keep up the good work. Greetings Michael.

It is another masterpiece. The collaboration of all of them, and Tuomas' genius is awe inspiring.
LoL your mic is very good picking up background in your house too.

Starting the live stream with Floor covering Oblivion is a sublime opening... to perhaps the seminal recording of our generation.
    Great start!
It's hard to overrrate this album...
Opening with Music to Noise to my favorite,
Shoemaker... there's literally no weak link.
Harvest, Pan, How's the Heart... Procession, the BANGER Tribal...
Probably one of the best releases since 2112, Machine Head, Songs in the Key of Life, Boston's self titled, or genre bending Hybrid Theory....
Rare few efforts match the complete works of a single release.

  • @mnewm21
    @mnewm21 3 роки тому

My 3 favs are the bookends and Pan. Pan is one of the most creative songs about human creativity I have ever heard!! Endlessness is perfection and poignant if Marco does not return to us, and Music opens the whole thing perfectly, I smile every time it gets to the first chorus it is the joy of music captured. This album though doesn't have a bad song, but you know if a gun was held to my head they are the three I would go with...

Im soooo much in love with NW for sooo many years, my times reaching Tarja times when Marco joined, In my opinion Floor is now the ultimate singer for them, I admire her above all known imagination, and the Endless Forms album was absolutely FIRE !!! and I love every single song of it, BUT Human :||: Nature at the first listen was a hard thing to do. Only Noise and Tribal did the job for me, the rest I was like "meh" its somthing weird here.. But every relisten was a new discovering. Now I believe this album, the lyrics of EVERY SONG and the way Floor sings it is a f*cking masterpiece of Toumas creativity. This man is impossible, whole band with their talents.. I cannot imagine what we can get with another album.

I really like this album, don't get me wrong, but when it's all over it leaves me feeling kinda empty or depressed. I find the album a little dark for me. EFMB makes me feel better after it's over. It's a lighter sounding album.
Procession is sad and makes humans sound like shit. Some of us are. And endlessness just makes me depressed about death. I don't listen to the album very often. So because of this, I can't love it. Even the music videos and album artwork are dark. I'm pretty sensitive to imagery and it can have a major effect on how I perceive something.
