@@Ekzy23 with rebellion equipped, you hold down the lock-on button (on xbox that's RB), press the left stick into the direction of the enemy you're targetting, and press the sword button to do a "Stinger" attack. If you hold down the sword attack button but let go of the stick while Dante is dashin towards the enemy, he does million stab instead of stinger

@Baxi Tabaxi Well you also have to realize that Vergil's Judgement Cut is also far faster than Dante's if you perfect time it, as well as doing just as much if not more damage to a singular enemy. While Dante's just wipes out everything on screen. This could also be a showing of how much more powerful Dante is than Vergil at that point, after all, that is DMC3 Vergil that is playable in this game, so he's got a decade of age and power ontop of it. So even if he's far less skilled with the weapon, having never used the sword even, it still has a far wider range of effect because of the raw power difference.
I've got to disagree about the moves not designed to kill though, they certainly are, Vergil doesn't play around with his attacks and that shows heavily with his compared to Dante's which taunting and going easy on foes gives him life. Especially when you get skilled enough to consistently keep the concentration meter maxed out for maxed damage.
@@theworstcatholic7247 I’m pretty sure the whole dichotomy between the two is Dante is the powerhouse and Vergil is the refined skill. It makes sense that Dante just haphazardly destroys everything on screen and Vergil doesn’t. Dante isn’t trying to show how powerful he is, or exert dominance. he just does shit and jokes around

*Drive*: Dante +1 due to his OverDrive and longer reach
*Uppercut*: Vergil +1, his level 3 distorted charge uppercut (Shin Shoryuken esque) is even more potent than Distorted Real Impact
*Slash Dimension vs. Judgment Cut*: Dante has flashier animation, but it just for show, Vergil ofc handled Yamato far better than his little bro
Million stabs: Vergil Holds the attack longer
Round trip(Extra): Vergil needs less time to charge the sword and it throw it faster than his Bro
Straight and combo B: Vergil need less time to charge his attacks
Lunar phase and Kick 13: Dante is less precise in the attack but it can attack far enemies
Slash Dim. & Judgement cut(extra): Vergil can also do the timed judgement cut and make it more powerful, and it has a Close range attack that leave you some extra Dmg.

yeah, I used that Just Judgment Cut a lot, pretty versatile and powerful, especially when Vergil is fully motivated
Btw, strangely, Dante's Yamato can bypass shields (his attacks won't be interrupted), whereas Vergil's isn't, I think it's a bug. Regardless, Vergil's Yamato attacks have a longer reach, faster, and should be more damaging as well, especially when he's motivated
One more thing, Vergil can do a midair stinger
@@Skyliet In the case of the Judgement cut, it can ignore the shields of the angelo if you do the timed cut if youre close, but is better just to use the kick 13 or the rapid slash, and i didnt renember the air stinger, thanks for renember me, its useful in the fight whit berial and agnus
Vergil had different style on Drive. It seems like his Drive more goes to area attack than range attack

Vergil's obviously got an edge on his brother in terms of proficiency with melee weapons, but his fighting style is narrow and singular - he matches power against power and prefers to take attacks head on, eating whatever he fails to block. He has projectiles, but his summoned swords are used to *enable* his close-ranged assaults, rather than compliment them. Dante rounds out the disadvantage in terms of adaptability. He's flashy, but also pragmatic - he can force enemies on the defensive with his ranged weapons, dance around his targets, block and absorb damage before returning it tenfold, and - for lack of caution, I suppose - is much better able to rebound and recover in the event he DOES take damage, insofar as being able to twist disadvantages into his own favor, whereas Vergil has steeped his combat style in perfectionism and order, preferring to obliterate enemies before they have a chance to move, and has trouble regaining stability after he inevitably makes a mistake or miscalculation and ends up getting punished.
Against the legions of the undead, pure power gets Vergil very far, but against his own brother, his stiff and stubborn approach to fighting will make a victory hard to snatch.

Honestly Vergil most likely have varied weapons if he was given chance like his own game. As seen in DMC 3 special edition that Vergil is capable of using any weapon immediately at ease. Though Dante's styles obviously has an edge.
He's had (in canon) as much opportunity as Dante to amass Devil Arms. He chooses not to. I always thought that this was because he chose to be really good with one weapon (Yamato), rather than good with multiple weapons like Dante.
@@NinjapowerMS But like he said, Dante has adaptability. Look at how he handles the Balrog gauntlets. Meanwhile, Vergil would hone the skills that he already has with the gauntlets in other words, same moveset.

I love how Dante's 'Aerial Rave' with the Yamato is a remnant of Vergil's 'Aerial Rave' in DMC 3. Because Vergil's moveset in DMC4:SE is an overhaul, that is heavily influenced by his reboot counterpart.
I like how Dante's a heavy hitter (cuz his million stab is quite slower yet powerful)
And vergil is the agile and fast one (his million stab basically being a blur cuz u literally cant see his hand)
Vergil's reflection during million stab is still one of the greatest things ever.

It's not fair, you need to level up vergil's concentration gauge to make it fair.

Well rebellion is two handed sword & weight more but dante is so strong that he can one handed. Vergil sword (force edge) is one handed sword & is lighter

The Great house of Constance von Nuvelle it’s designed more after a one handed sword but it’s still as easy to two hands as rebellion

I'm not sure about Vergil movements being weaker, it feel more like Dante movements are weaker because of the lack of precision. If you add full concentration distortion to the discussion, Vergil damage goes through the roof.
Guys. Vergil DOES have less damage than other characters, the thing is that his DPS is like a minigun in steroids.

It's basically a less dense version of judgment cut thus why its attack hitbox is a ground-attack and an actual attack-hit.

@@tai2664 I think it was during when the heart of Fortuna city was attacked and he tried to mimic some slashes on the judgement cut the only one landed is the first.
Vergil's moveset is a bit more smoother than Dante's, showing that he's using the devil arms with a calm and swift motions, in contrast to Dante's rough manner of using the devil arms
I love how they're so similar yet so different.

Funnily enough, despite desiring more power, Dante does it more blatantly and MUCH more frequently with his acquiring devil arms, whereas Vergil's strength seems to come from pure refinement of his own demonic power.

Sparda supposedly was capable of using any devil arm and was Mundus's strongest- however he also would prefer to use his own power which would be passed down and split between his sons
Dante who accepts his humanity therefore allowing himself to literally "open his heart to others" as devil arms are mostly hearts of fallen or tamed devils (such as Cerberus, Agni&Rudra, Nevan, Alastor etc)
And Vergil who closed mindedly sees his own power as superior to all others- like when he went from yamato to Beowulf against Dante as an insult pretty much saying even with a weaker power he's better.
Then this would once again be accumulated into one whole in the form of Sparda's grandson (and from what we know of Sparda imo the most that closely feels like Sparda)
Nero, who uses his own force of will yet can still open his heart to others and amplify his power, like how the yamato and his love for kyrie was able to push out his deep hidden potential

I assume all the moves they have in common are ones Sparda used/taught them. They rest are their own creation or have seen before.
Im pretty sure they were boys when they lost they parents, i dont think they trained at that point yet

Vergil has a bit more disipline and elegance to his movements and visuals where as Dante is more on visual flare and raw power

Kind of like the Ryu/Ken contrast the two has in this video. Best example is Rising Dragon. Vergil's version is extremely clean reflecting Ryu's cleaner shoryuken compared to Dante and Ken's flashier uppercuts.

This video felt off for some reason, 2 minutes in and I can see why, vergil has 0 concentration, that's why his attacks look weaker, cuz they are, the higher the concentration meter, the stronger vergil's attacks get, he gets more range, and becomes more flashy and destructive, dante on the other hand, is always at peak, his peak isn't as strong as vergil's, but it's better because it allows more freedom since you don't have to prioritize not wasting movement (vergil's most important aspect, even more than DT gauge)
Even now they're just as capable as each other
