- This video was filmed at Upwey Railway Station in Dorset not far from Weymouth on the steep bank up to Bincombe Tunnel, SR U class No 31806 storms up the bank with a loaded mainline test train bound for Yeovil Junction. Class 33 diesel D6515 (Lt Jenny Lewis RN) is attached to the rear of the train. The test train 5Z42 started from Swanage and ran via Wareham, Weymouth and Yeovil Pen Mill.
It's superb to see this back on the mainline!!
Great engine, thanks for watching. Thanks for watching..Pete
Fantastic sight and sounds and excellent video.
Hi Allan, thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers Pete
Lovely to see a good southern locomotive out on mainline!
Hi Nathan, couldn't agree more. Cheers Pete
Apart from the Gnome in the raincoat this was excellent. Commendable that the driver did NOT blow the whistle, as there was no need to do so. Sadly today, far to many drivers blow the born, or with steam, blow the whistle, when it is unnecessary to do so.
Hi James, it's a good job that the camera didn't pick up my comment regarding Mr raincoat. Many thanks for your comments...Cheers Pete H
2:06 was a bit annoying. Great video! Left a sub also!
Yes, more than a bit annoying, the chap new that I was filming but.........!!!! Thanks for your positive comment and for subbing. Best Ragrds Pete
Cheeky ;). Had a feeling you’d be somewhere ahaha..... to be honest you’d be silly not to... I got them at both Dorchester’s and Yeovil pen mill.. went super.... and happy to know it passed its test So will deffo see it on the Great Britain X with union of South Africa at the end of the month and on the Dorset belle which I think is from Southampton to Weymouth runs... in the summer... anyway great video as always ;) Thumbs Up From me ;) Cheers Matt
Trains In The South West. I
Lovely video! I think the firing at speed needs more experience, judging by the continuous black smoke. (I remember these from my childhood with barely a wisp of smoke, but maybe because of different coal / flatter track / smaller loads etc.)
It does make for a very dramatic effect, very much appreciated comments. Cheers Pete
Love to see you try Mr Armchair
What dolt keeps stepping into the field of view?
Hi Johnny, what more can one say, I always do my best to keep out of other peoples views but........!!! Cheers Pete
Isn't it a good job bloke 2:06 didn't do that a moment earlier...
Hi Andrei, great to hear from you, yes he was behind me!!!!!! Pete
There's always some cretin around who doesn't look where they're stepping! How could he not see TWO cameras? I like the low level camera position.
Hi Robbie, yes he had 2 goes at almost ruining the video.... :( Cheers Pete
Stop moaning. It made no difference whatever to my view of the video.
