You clearly made a day of it and got some nice shots, and sounds, in the process. I just contented myself with Fleet and Farnborough, but there's a nice whistle at Fleet in the first half of my video.
Fire was actually just south of Dorchester, on the climb up to Bincombe Tunnel (just the other side of the hill on the left at2:24in fact). Astonishingly National Rail Enquiries seemed to get it wrong. That was certainly a big ask for a solo Crompton up Bincombe on the return, even with the Jub providing assistance.
Steam and diesel working in unison tackling Upwey - superb. Not quite sure how you managed your timings, not the best of roads at anytime of the day!!!! Loving that LMS foghorn "whistle". Thanks Matthew, another fine example of your work👍👍👍👍
Fairplay Matt for getting to all the location's in time ,I don't know how you managed Eastleigh to Dorchester so quick with the usual traffic down here. 👍🏻
Thanks Jamie! Luck rather than judgement, to be honest. She was 20 mins late at Eastleigh, on time at Ashurst, and then (thankfully) late at Dorchester. Had she been on time at Dorch, there was no way I'd have made it with the traffic.
I was on that trip and when we arrived into Basingstoke on the way back the diesel failed so the train had to terminate at Clapham Junction leaving Bahamas to do all the work
So cool! Wish trips like this could happen in the US. Awesome footage and breathtaking scenery! Thank you for sharing!
Well filmed!!!!
Interesting to hear Bahamas banking on the rear tender first 👍👌
Thoroughly enjoyed watching many thanks for sharing

Glad you enjoyed this one, Bob! The times were much more luck than judgement.

33025 also had a turbo failure on return, on your last video the clag was becoming darker which you probably caught the start of the eventual failure
Cheers for the heads up. I'd heard it had failed, wasn't sure what with.
Didn't even know that cromptons had turbos! Thought it was only 40s... (which are amazing)
Amazing footage!
Cheers

Veery good video :)
Thank you
Oh what a handsome locomotive she is! The shot of her at 2.00 is sublime
One of the best turned out mainline locos. Glad you enjoyed it
