    I received a brand new 810mah Spektrum smart battery for my Losi Mini B a few days ago. I went to put it on the charger and it would not charge because of a low voltage error. I tested the pack with a volt meter it was at 1.1 volts... After a bit of research I decided to charge the lipo on the NiCd option and removed it from the charger at 6.4volts. I was able to bring the pack back to life and it charges fine on the Lipo setting now :-) As long as the cells are not damaged you can bring back low voltage lipo's with the NiCd charging method. Just make sure to monitor the pack while its charging then take it off once its at a safe voltage. Then charge it the rest of the way with your Lipo setting and it should be good to go. If the pack is puffy like you said do not try this method or if the pack has a bad cell this method will not work and the pack should be tossed out.

    So…I’m new to LiPo batteries…2 weeks in. I bought a spektrum s2100 kit with 2 3s 50c batteries to use in my new infraction 6s. I went through 3 runs within a few days with the truck and put the batteries into storage charge each time without issue. They say for a little over a week and today tried charging the batteries, one charged easily and quickly, the other made it to 80% and then claimed 13 hours to finish charging. I stopped the charge, unplugged the battery, plugged it back in and it claimed it was at full charge. I ran the batteries (in a 3s truck) and after coming home, that same battery won’t take a charge on storage mode, but will take a regular charge (although something seems off, charges relatively quickly in comparison to previous times). Any thoughts? Thanks.
    Ps, I also bought 2 smart 100c 3s batteries and they seemed to never hit storage charge completion…they would say less than 5 minutes till storage charge complete and it stayed like that for an hour before I stopped charge and unplugged. Those I haven’t fully charged or run yet

      Can you get the overall voltage, or ideally individual cell voltage of the pack? That will tell you a lot about what is happening inside.

      @@HobbiesDirect yeah so I checked the individual cells with the charger and there is one cell that’s always lower than the other 2, usually around 4-4-3.7, but now that I know that function exists I check them periodically and anywhere from .3 to .7 volts lower than the other cell. I contacted the hobby shop I bought it from and he said to run the crap out of it but only for a short period of time and charge..repeat to see if that cell will balance out. Sounds like a solid plan? Like I said, I’m a total noob when it comes to electric rc’s although I have more than my fair of time in with nitro rc’s. Thanks for getting back to me. Ps, I invested in 7 batteries total now so that one isn’t going to prevent me from running but still, $70 for a battery to get 3 runs from im trying to do what I can to revive it. Hobby shop also said if that didn’t work that he’d do what he could to help out but they don’t warranty batteries. They’re all spektrum smart batteries btw.

      @@69Busa08Nova how are they now ? I'm genuinely curious. Did it balance itself out over time ? Or was it a bad cell ? Just now i had one of my 5000mah , 100c 4 cell batteries not want to charge on me. It was showing around 3.60 volts per cell. But the "charge meter" read 0% so I was freaking out .... I only have maybe. 20 ? 30 ? Cycles on each battery. Changed charging ports. Still nothing. Like how does it say it have 3.60 volts per cell but it was saying the battery was completely dead. I messaged a buddy on Instagram. And while I was showing him what was wrong it started to charge ! I haven't clue ! But I would like to know how your luck has been with these batteries.
      Edit. I plug it in. And like you said..they only take less than a few seconds to start charging. I had it plugged in for atleast a solid 2-3 minutes. Then it jumped to 10% and 13% and started charging. I'm just dumb founded why that happened. happened. And 3.60 volts is not too low ... I'm not exactly sure what the esc cut off voltage is. ( the charger says 3.30 for discharge to cycle your batteries when they have memory ) But it's not 3.60 ... atleast I don't think so. I'm just freaking glad it charged. It was a balck Friday deal and I still dropped 💰 on that spektrum battery / charger kit.

    I have a 4s Ovonic pack that i put maybe the 5th run on yesterday, so not an old battery. I went to storage charge all my packs after bashing and when i plugged that one in i got voltage error on both my chargers, so i used a cell checker to see what was up and it showed c1 .05v, c2 7.23v, c3 3.63v and c4 3.63v, actually tried another checker as well with same results. Im not new to lipos but never seen this. Any ideas on what maybe going on? The 7.23v on one cell is a bit scary to me lol.

      It's very likely that the cell would have popped at 7+ volts, its much more likely that there's an internal short or a problem with the balance lead that's giving the wrong readings.

      @HobbiesDirect ok thanks, I was thinking something like that had to be going on like cell 2 on my checkers was reading 1 and 2 voltage maybe. Thanks for the reply 👍

    curious about the 6 wheel thing (left of screen) ???

    • @HobbiesDirect
      @HobbiesDirect  Рік тому +1

      So glad someone asked haha - It's a 6lehong! Created from 2 Xinlehong 9130 cars, it's dual motor, dual esc, and 6 wheel drive. The front 4 wheels are basically a stock Xinlehong 9130, and the rear 2 wheels are the back half of another car, with its own motor and esc. Drives ridiculously well for something held together with cable ties!
