- This trick is for batteries that will not charge due to the voltage being too low, and the charger will not initiate a charge cycle. Always charge your LiPo batteries in a fireproof bag and do not leave them unattended.

Great video but should also mention that if you leave you lipo plugged into your esc some esc's will drain the voltage even if it's turned off
You must play with childrens toys. You do not leave lipos attatched to an esc
Makes sense think that’s happen to me.. I unplugged one battery on my erevo now went to charge them and ones drained
This video rescued my titan lipo. Can't thank you enough.
Thank you for watching!
Great info, it may be worth mentioning that it's possible the troublesome cells 'IR' will shoot up, so longevity for the complete lipo could be shortened/compromised.
I can't thank you enough!!! I had 3 batteries with one cell not reading by the charger. I dit your method and now I have 3 lipo batteries fully functional. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰👍👍👍
Awesome!!! Glad this helped :)
Awesome brother, just followed your instructions and blam away she went!! And it's charging a treat, sweet as. Thank you so much.
Awesome, glad it worked for you!
Thanks bro this worked with my 4s. I thought it was dead. It took exactly a min to get up to a voltage where my Lipo charger recognized it.👍🏽
Fixed two.
Thanks a lot! Battery charges like normal. Great vid!
Short and sweet. Thank you.
Thanks John for another super helpful video 🍻😎💪👊👊
OMG! It worked, 2 of my lipo batteries been having this issue for 4 months, about to toss them and your lipo revival advice worked perfectly, now my batteries are good. That's almost $300 you just saved me! 10👍
Glad it worked for you!
@@RCJuice I'm watching your video hoping it can fix my 4s lipo that has 1 cell too low. It's frustrating because although I'm not an expert on batteries I feel like I take very good care of my batteries but I always putting them on storage mode after each run, and never letting a battery sit fully charged for more than one day, and even that's rare.
@@williamperri3437 If you do have 1 cell that is too low then this will not work, this is for a pack that is discharged too far across all cells. If a cell is bad, which sounds like your case, then the pack is unfortunately done. Sometimes cells go bad even if the pack is cared for correctly :(
Excellent tip.
Thank you so much for this tip. I couldn't get my battery to charge and had no idea what I was going to do. But after doing this trick and leaving the battery for only 1 minute, it had enough charge to start charging again. Thank you again!
Our pleasure!! It usually spikes the voltage enough to charge in LiPo mode very quickly, thank you for watching and please let us know if you have any questions or if we can help in any other way.
@@RCJuice ...Thankyou so much !!!!
...My friends battery had been sitting for a couple months, and normally I put both of his lipos in "storage mode", but I guess I forgot !! 🙄 So thanks again !!!👌
This guy's a genius, God bless you
Wooh . It worked. Thanks!
Super helpful video and saved my battery, thank you!!!
Thank you for watching!
Can you make a video showing how your HobbyStar 120 amp esc works with sensored and sensorless motors?
I have one of your 120 amp ESC's that doesn't work correctly with a sensorless motor. When it set the esc to "forward with pause then reverse" the esc only allows me to use the brake once while the truck is moving forward at any speed. If I use the brake more then once the truck will try to go into reverse and this causes the truck to try and lockup the back wheels or even make the wheels spin in reverse. My 80amp HobbyStar esc allows me to use the brakes for as many times as I want and will actually pause when the truck comes to a complete stop and then I'll be able to use reverse.
Thank you for this info... It helped me with the problem I had
"Check out the brain on Brad". My man. Thank you.
I've had a problem with a 4s when only 2 cells charged even in ballance , so I've made a 2 pin connector and charged the individual low cell as a single cell through the ballance lead
thank you .... worked for me .... spektrum 5000 50c..... i charged it for about a minute at 2A using imax B6AC v2
Glad it worked, another battery saved!
Tried it worked like a charm had to do it a couple times cycled before they Traxxas charger would recognize the battery work perfectly for boy I was nervous as heck I didn’t want any issues anything exploding you know. thank you for making this great video
Glad to hear it worked!! The charger sends current just the same, no matter what mode it is in. The only difference is the measured voltage at which it stops charging, the only danger is if you set it to chage on NiMh mode and then walk away and forget about it, it would overcharge the battery and could destroy it or even cause a fire. There is no danger in charging it for a while in NiMh mode as long as you pull it off before it reaches full voltage.
I got a special plug ins for my Traxxas battery's .4 Amp just to be safe recovered to in a 1.5 minutes. Awesome video. Lectron pro charger BTW.
Thank you. I am new to rc and accidentally left a spanking new spektrum 2S plugged into my car for a week. It showed Dead dead dead. I called my local shop and was told it’s trash. To be fair, I was warned.
I caught sight of my battery in the trash for two weeks and said “there’s got to be a way”. Sure enough. I am at this moment recharging my smart battery with sensor lead after trying this hack. I do understand the hesitation on a shop not wanting to hand this out. Liability and all. And the ineptitude of society at large.
Bottom line. IT WORKED for me.
Glad it worked for you! Your situation is exactly the scenario in which this works, thank you for watching :)
You saved me some money , I was able to charge my 6s 4000 mha battery, thanks 🙏🏼
I just let it charge until it got to 22.2 Volts which is the rated voltage on the battery.
Glad it worked and saved you a battery!
Great info thanks, 👍
Thank you for this it worked great
worked thank you!
My charger dont let me Charge Always says Connection Break
i have a 3 cell 3300 mah 35c 11.1 v lipo battery.. my second is totally discharged and shows 0v so can i charge that single cell with a B3 imax rc charger? or how should i recover the dead battery cell , i only have the B3 imax rc charger with me.
Thank you so much for this it worked great
I just bought a X max last year with two 6700 mA batteries and one of them wouldn’t charge. Batteries are really hard to get in Kodiak so this was a huge problem after watching this video I couldn’t be happier this is great stuff
Thank you for watching, and glad it helped!!
It's funny you made this video because I know this trick and was just trying it on 2 batteries I have. My question is how long can I charge them, while supervising them since the 30 seconds to a minute things not working ? Great vid!
Thank you for watching! You can technically charge them up until they are at 4.2v/cell, doing this is just like charging them in LiPo mode but it will just not stop. We don't recommend charging them all the way up this way, but you CAN charge them for much longer than 30-seconds to a minute, that's just usually all it takes.
@@RCJuice Appreciate the info
I let three of my lipos like two or three year with no charging two of them are 1200mah 7.4 one is alright but second one is completly dead and third one is 11.1 and i tryed that trick and didnt work for me and voltsge went up to 10.57 and still wont charge on balance
Just saved 2 3s lipo with this video thanks a lot
It helped. Thanks bro🤙🏻
Thank you for watching!
Does that trick work with Smart lipo batteries because I have that exact problem charged it used it once now it won't take a charge
ThaaaaaaaaanK You 👍🏾👍🏾
I accidentally left my Hexfly3800 7.2v nimh in my rc lowrider with the car turned on, now it wont turn on. When i try to charge the battery the charger doesnt go red and tell me error but it doesn't blink either like its charging jt just stays green like its fully charged, what do i do?
Do you plug in the balance lead also when charging it in NIMH mode?
Good question. No you do not, if you do so then the charger will error out on you.
Great question it did not work for me until I saw your question and took off the balance lead now I'm back in the game! Thanks guys.
Not sure if anyone will see this bc the video is a year old, but if I put it on for 30seconds and it doesn’t work can I put it on for another 30 seconds?
That works!
thank you so much, saved my battery
Awesome
Thank u it worked for me
What if my battery is charging but in my arma vehicle wont start or when it does it cuts off
F YEAH! Thank you :)
can i revive my lipo with a spektra g2 charger??
I usually just use a jumper wire and connect a charged pack into dead pack for a couple min ,bring v up and then charge them
Hey how do you exactly do that? I have a 3S 1500mah that only read as 2S by my balance charger. Turned out one cell have less than 2v in it
Thank you I had 2 batteries that my Traxxas charger would not charge an my first charger I ever bought would let me try what you said. I waited 30 seconds maybe 🤔 more an swap back to my Traxxas charger an boom 💥💥🤯 it works thanks
Nice, glad it worked!!! Thank you for watching!!
How to fix a 6S LiPo battery when the Tenergy display reads "R: 5s S:6S" ? Battery didn't cutoff on the battery and went below charge. Now, the R: parameter shows 5S. any ideas to fix it?
That sounds like there is a complete failure of 1 cell on the pack. This trick is for when all cells have been discharged too far, but it sounds like in your case you have 1 cell that is actually damaged or completely dead and unfortunately, this cannot fix that.
if they spend too long with low voltage they wont recover no matter how you try this method. i have a couple of two cell lipos and only one cell from both of them is taking charge...this was after 4 weeks of mine being left below voltage. im mad at myself for forgetting lol
Thanks bro you saved my battery
Glad it worked for you, thank you for watching!
what voltage should 6s battery be , I have a 1300mah now it charges to 1900mah and the voltage is over 25 had a motor catch fire .. when I bought it , it went to 1700 worked fine
A fully charged 6S battery should read a total pack voltage of 25.2. A motor catching fire would be related to overgearing and overheating of the motor, not the battery itself.
When proceed with this method, is the lipo battery is connected with both cable power/balance. Cheers
Do not connect the balance cable or you will get an error in NiMh mode, just connect positive and negative.
I've got a NiMH battery 7,2volts 3000mah and I've run it for 5 years. I left it and it went dormant during winter and it takes 5-20 minutes to charge it in 1 amp(a new battery takes about 3000/1000=3-3,5 hours) Is there anything I can do to get full capacity and run it again or do i have to replace it???
For that battery the best you can do is to run several charge-discharge cycles (Do at least 5). If it does not come back to capacity after that then it's going to be done, at that age and sitting that long it's likely not going to come back very strong unfortunately.
I have a spektrum s2100 charger and after charging for 1 min in NiMH mode, I switched back to Lipo, and it is asking if you want to charge without the balancer. Should I click yes or no?
We recommend charging in balance mode. In his particular case, we would recommend the same. Click "No" to be on the safe side.
What if my battery is so low that my smart charger wont even detect it
Dont plug in bal lead during rescue operation?
Thanks for the video. Do you have a tutorial to revive a multi cells lipo with only one cell that the voltage is too low?. I have a 3S 1500mah that only read as 2S by my balance charger. Turned out one cell have less than 2v in it
There is no way to do this with a standard Lipo charger, but charging it in NiMh mode will charge all cells. If you have only 1 cell that is lower than the rest then it is likely a bad cell and may not be able to be revived, this trick is more for overly-discharged packs on which you'll see low voltage across all cells.
@@RCJuice Ok.. thanks for replying
I’m new to air soft. I got a new battery put it in the gun shot it a few times and left the battery in the gun for 4 days. I came back I wanted to shoot it and it wouldn’t shoot. I decided to charge it and left it over night charging and the light keeps blinking red on the smart charger or the Balance. Now it’s been 2 days and it’s still blinking red and anytime I plug it in it doesn’t work. What do I do?
If you are able to set the charger to NiMh mode then this trick will work for you, but some basic chargers do not have this option and you would not be able to do this.
What should I do I baugh new Lippo one cell is 0.9V other 5 are 3.8V, Cann I repair it with this method?
If this is a new LiPo then no, that sounds like a defective cell. This trick is for when all cells have been run too low, but they should be in similar states. Any time you have one cell that is very different from the others that indicates a bad cell alltogether.
I have 2 3s spectrum smart batteries.
At 3.6v, they won't charge. I stored them too long.
I doubt these can be revived.
I'm never buying spektrum anything again
EDIT: I ordered the S150 charger and will try to charge as NIMH while monitoring voltage.
Hi, my C1 is 3.7, C2 shows ZERO, C3, 3.7
can i still use the same trick? charge with NiMh at 2.0 amp? how do i know if its working or its not working?
If its working the voltage should continue to climb til 11v? and not working if it continues to linger at 7.4-7.5v?
Unfortunately, that is most likely not revivable. When all cells are low then the pack health is usually OK and they just need to be charged up a bit, but when 1 cell is at 0 and the others are at a nominal voltage that sounds like a bad cell altogether. Sorry....
@@RCJuice Thanks!!
Can you tell me the name of the charger you are using in this video.
Thanks
This is the SkyRC S65: www.rcjuice.com/skyrc-s65-ac-high-voltage-lipo-balance-charger.html
So when I do this it only charged up on cell mine reads 3.15v and the other three cells are 0 any tips. It’s a brand new spektrum
If you have 0 volts then those cells are completely dead and not revivable (sounds like a defective pack). This is for when all cells are low but still in similar shape, unfortunately, it sounds like your pack is not fixable.
My charger says battery check cell conn err. An when I try nigh says the same thing but one of my cells are way lower it's a 6 s
You can still try this, but if you have 1 cell that is really far off of the others it may be a sign of a bad cell that cannot be revived. This is more for when all cells have been discharged too far.
Thank you for this tutorial,, but I have a 4S lipo 2 cells are good and the other 2 cells my charger only detects 2 because the other 2 they have like 0 voltage can I still do what you teach us on this tutorial????
This works when cells are all too low, but relatively close to each other. If you have 2 cells that are reading voltage and 2 that are at 0 that unfortunately sounds like the cells are bad and not fixable.
@@RCJuice okay 👍🏻 appreciate it for your help thank you....
Thanks for this video man. Problem solved.
Thank you for watching!
oh i got batterys that are to low voltage not to new got from a friend sat in cold i think so how long do i need to plug it in for
Usually only takes a minute or two.
@@RCJuice yup im 13 and never had 3s in my slash just 2s and im waiting for it to be nice out to test it i saved 3 batterys with this
How can i charge my battery in a lipo bag when the leads are so short? I guess i cant put the whole charger inside the bag
The bag usually ends up right next to the charger, even the shortest leads typically give you enough length to do so.
The funny thing is my multi meter says both cells are fine but charger is getting mad at me
I know my issue is the battery being too low but it won’t take a charge after 2 minutes on nimh what do I do
You can charge it longer on NiMh. It usually only takes a minute or two, but you can leave it on much longer if needed. You just can't leave it on there and walk away from it, it will charge just the same as it would in LiPo mode, but it would not shut off when it needs to so you can't just let it charge all the way but there is no harm in leaving it charging in NiMh mode for longer as long as you stop it before the cells are fully charged. If it will just not take a charge then it's possible the cells are too far gone. Check individual cell voltages too, they should all be somewhat close in voltage, if you have a cell that is way off of the others that's an indicator of a bad cell that cannot be repaired.
on my 1500 3s it says 8 volts and it still wont balance charge should i keep going ? been charging it with 1.5a for 1 min
Yes you can charge that for a while longer to see if it comes up enough. Check the individual cell voltages first though, if any 1 cell is really far off of the others then the battery is likely no good, this is for when all cells are discharged too far but still otherwise relatively balanced.
I have 3 batteries. I charge them it says full charge I then plug one into the car and it runs strong for like a minute then looses charge. Any idea on that?
Start by checking individual cell voltages once it starts to slow down to see if the pack is balanced. if all cells are close, then it's possible the battery is just worn out.
so if i have a bad cell does that means my battery is no longer usable?
my first time experiencing a bad cell!
If a cell is bad then there is no reviving it, a good indicator is one cell have a very different reading than all other cells. If all cells are very low then the pack is likely just over-discharged and this will work, but if one cell is much lower than the rest then unfortunately the pack is likely toast.
@@RCJuice i was scared of that.
thanks for replying, i will be purchasing a new battery. 😎👍
I tried this method with a Gens Ace 3S, it had been dead for over a year.
2 mins in I could hear the casing expanding so I stopped and checked voltage
Cell 1 = 0V
Cell 2 = 0V
Cell 3 = 3.5V
I’m guessing 2 of the cells were so dead they can’t even be revived?
Unfortunately, that seems to be correct in your case.
I had to trow a lipo once but I tried reviving it but it was wayyyy to dead
Is there a point that it will not work? I purchased 2 gens ace 2s 7.4v and never used won't charge on Lipe low voltage error , tried nimh and nothing any other ideas? Thank you
If a cell is actually "bad" this will not work, this is for when cells have simply been discharged too far. If you have a pack where one cell is in a much different state than others then that is usually a bad cell and it cannot be fixed. If you are charging it in NiMh mode for a few minutes and the voltage does not come up then it may be damaged, but try charging and discharging a few times for 5 minutes each time to see if you can "wake up" the pack, sometimes it works.
@RCJuice thanks , I tried it and one just broke back over 5v so maybe a few more time I might have something lol thanks again 🍺
My voltage goes to 4.21 for all cells but the charger stops and says the battery is charged - but the mAh is only 1000 and it's suppose to be 4000 mAh, Whats wrong with it ?
What are the cell voltages when you begin charging? It depends on how depleted it is when you begin the charge cycle.
Omg thank you I spent 50 dollars on a battery and it worked
My brother put my 3s $80 battery on nimh battery for like 20 minutes and the battery turned into a literal marshmallow, thank God it was a soft case otherwise it could have been a fire
hey when i plug any of my batteries im getting a breakdown from my lipo charger
Is it giving you an error message? If so, what is it saying? Also, what charger are you currently using? Thank you for the question.
I’ve tried this 3-4 times and I seem to not be able to get my battery revived
If any cells are at a significantly different voltage than the others then you may have a bad cell which this will not fix. What are the cell voltages?
No way my battery is working now thanks 🤯
I have a smart s150 charger and it doesn’t let me put it into nimh it automatically puts it back into lipo. Is there anyway I can bypass?
Sounds like you have the balance lead connected, remove the balance lead and it will let you.
@@RCJuice it doesn’t have a balance lead it’s the new battery’s without it.
@@bennybabch552 Gotcha. It does have balance leads, but they are built-into the connector so this is not going to work with that charger. Sorry :(
what if i have a charger that doesnt have modes my 2s lipo of my wl toys k989 wont charge with its stock charger :(
Some basic chargers do not have modes, but you can find a charger that can do this for reasonable prices now: www.rcjuice.com/chargers-accessories/chargers/imax-b6ac-50w-ac-dc-balance-charger.html
@@RCJuice ok ty :)

In NiMh mode balancing should not be an issue since they do not have balance plugs, make sure you do not have the balance plug connected to the charger and ensure you are in NiMh mode.
@@RCJuice should I be worried that cell 2 and cell 3 are at 0? Before doing this
@@fleurimondproductions2786 If they are truly at 0 then it's likely the pack is not revivable, you can still try this and it will not hurt anything but it's possible the pack is just junk at this point.

Mine says short error. I know the NiCd for this trick but it wont accept that either.
If it says short-error, you may have another issue alltogether. This works for packs where the voltage is too low due to sitting too long, or being discharged too far in use.
Yeah that's what I was figuring too. Thanks Though.
