    Sweet! I figured these would be coming soon! I do suffer from acidic sweat, (working on getting in under control with proper hydration and diet) and elixirs seem to be the only ones that last for me. So excited to have a coated set of 9.5s!

    This might not be the best way to reach out to your company, but I’m going give it a try.
    I own a vintage 1957 Fender Electric Mandolin. I’m looking for a vintage correct set of strings for it. I use your Broadway strings on my electric guitars and I think they would be great for the mandolin. However, I’m having trouble determining what string gauge these mandolins used, and similar modern instruments have quite a variance depending on the instrument manufacturer.

    I saw that the orbiters are not available in the string tension calculator. Is that an oversight or is it not possible to create custom string sets with them?

    Do these feel more like uncoated or coated strings? I'm asking because I do actually greatly prefer the feel of coated strings, but many new coated strings are advertised as feeling like uncoated, as if that's inherently a good thing.

    • @Stringjoy
      @Stringjoy  Рік тому

      Hi Victor! These will be in the camp of coated strings that feel more like uncoated strings. If you prefer the feeling of more thickly coated strings (and there's nothing wrong with that), Elixir is pretty much the only game in town for that.

    • @boshi9
      @boshi9 Рік тому +1

      @@Stringjoy OK, thanks for clarification. I like Elixir-style coating because it makes sliding very easy and free of scratching noises. Manufacturers tend to emphasize corrosion resistance as the main selling point, but I actually don't care about that too much since my hands basically don't sweat and even normal strings last for a long time. So for me it's all about getting that slick non-grippy feel.

    • @ethagr8162
      @ethagr8162 Рік тому

      This! This is what most string companies don’t understand about the whole coated string thing. The Nanoweb’s have that slick feeling where you don’t get that ugly string noise when you change chords or do slides. it’s the feel that coated string players like and everyone tries to get rid of that when they try to “improve” on coated strings. Its not a bug, it’s a feature !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • @Stringjoy

      Negative, we experimented with that but the resulting plains were much too shrill. Fortunately plains do not typically experience tone loss in the same way that wound strings do.

  • @dividedbytimestudios
    @dividedbytimestudios Рік тому +1

    Elixir user here, I think if your gonna coat a string. Do the whole thing, not just the core, Elixir still best in that department. To me I hate that sliding string noise, like Tom Morello soloing on Bulls on parade

    • @Stringjoy
      @Stringjoy  Рік тому +2

      We don't coat the core, we coat only the wrap wire, which because of our tight wrapping process forms a protective barrier around the whole string. That said, our process aims to create a coated strings that doesn't feel coated, so for folks that do like the feel of coated strings, a thicker over-top coating like Elixirs is definitely the move.

    Nice! I’ve never liked coated strings for electric, but I’d give these a try. The extra brightness was certainly more noticeable on the dirty amp.
    Now for a suggestion, we’ll, more of a request… let’s be real, I’m begging you… PLEASE, someday soon, make an all carbon steel electric set, like NYXL’s. I love the brightness and volume of those strings, but I switched to Stringjoy because I love that I can customize the string gauges in my set. Awesome work! Keep it up! 🤘🏼😎

    I appreciate what people think they're dong with these videos but come on. Can we get back to the world where somebody has the balls to share their opinion and insight? There is no way in hell anyone can hear the difference between these two sting types from a video like this. After the UA-cam compression they're both the same. The only way we can know from a video what the differences are is if you tell us. Tell us what you think from your experience. Tell us what you notice and maybe demonstrate it. Just playing back to back does nothing and anyone who says they can hear the difference is high on their own supply.

    • @Stringjoy
      @Stringjoy  Рік тому

      1. This is a demo video of a new product performed by one of our staff on our own channel, we try to be fair, but like, maybe this isn't the best place to come for an unbiased opinion? If WE didn't like it, we wouldn't put it out.
      2. There is discernibly a tonal difference in the video, but I very much agree, people tend to over-emphasize what things sound like in UA-cam videos-if you want to know what something sounds like, there's no replacement for trying it in-person.
