  • Watch this review of the TerraFlex 2 minimalist style hiking/trail running shoe from Xero Shoes by a hiker and backpacker. These zero drop, barefoot style shoes are some of the most comfortable and durable shoes I've found. They work really well for me hiking and backpacking. I got to backpack through the Grand Canyon in these shoes and give my thoughts and feedback about these shoes at the end of the video.

Thank you, and yes, I'm working on a video. So much stuff to go through and it will take me a while to put it together.

Excellent review sir I subscribed too , are the insoles zero drop? is their an arch support on the insole? that is annoying it takes away from the zero drop haha

Yes, the insoles are completely flat and don't have any type of arch support or anything. They are intended to provide an additional layer of cushion, if you want. The shoes are designed to be worn with or without the insoles. And, socks are optional. I have taken the insoles out of my Mesa Trails as I don't want the extra thickness. I've left them in my TerraFlex because I want the extra padding and use them when hiking on really sharp rocks and scree.

@@ScottValler ok good to know, Ty for the response I just ordered them, How do You like the Mesa? I usually wear Altra Lone Peaks, I really like them but I am looking for a more barefoot feel , I hike in very rocky Phoenix trails lol

@@jesurunsounds I really like the Mesa Trails. I have the original and version 2 which is the new version for this year. The new version is more durable, comes in black finally, and is great. I find that for backpacking on dirt, granite, pine needles, mud, etc. the Mesa's are fine. When I get up into scree or other sharp rocks the Mesa's are too thin for me and my feet start to hurt. For the rougher trips I wear the TerraFlex because they provide more protection. I still feel the rocks, but my feet aren't killing me when by the time I summit.
