I’m sorry, it seems UA-cam had some sort of issue showing 2 videos that do not exist yet. New episodes should be coming no later than the first week of 2022!
Really nice episode, been wating for it! A few small things if I may: You shouldn't distill the slime! You won't need the extra algae but can use the slime for Dusk Caps which are awesome and easily farmed food. To prevent the slime from gasing off, just put it in a storage bin under water. As soon as pressure is above a certain threshold (1.8kg iirc), elements are prevented from gassing off. To make melting your ice much quicker, just limit the amount each storage bin can hold. I usually take no more than 250kg in each, which melt way faster than the 20t maximum. For your ranches: You might want to add a storage bin for the critter food. The feeders only hold very little and whithout storage, your Dupes have to run a lot. This is actually the place I put my first Auto Sweepers, so the Critter Feeders are filled automatically. Also, it dosn't look like the ranch size is optimal. Ranches can be up to 96 tiles large to hold up to 8 (of most) critters. The additional space can be used for storage, as long as you don't store critter eggs there. Excuse my continued smart-pantness, lol. I really like your approach to base building. Keep it up!
I'm glad you still enjoy it, haha :D I have honestly never used Dusk Caps for anything, since my food usually comes from meat and at that point most else seems pointless to me. But I'm always happy to learn a few new tricks! I have used underwater storage bins before(polluted dirt in polluted water until processing mainly), but didn't see a need for it here since I didn't know about the dusk caps, haha :) I did briefly consider putting less ice in the bins, but also didn't see a need here since I have plenty of water available as it is. But you are 100% right, as usual, lower capacity yields faster melt time. I should have at least mentioned it in the video for people who might not know. I will make up for that mistake in the next video, thanks for reminding me! And the hatches, yes, the 96 tiles. That's what I forgot. You maybe saw me putting my max to 8 hatches and wrangle the surplus, but forgot the 96 tile stipulation. Once again, thank you very much for the pointer! I will correct that and give you credit in the next video :) I don't mind your "smart-pantness" at all, I'm happy to get feedback, explain my actions, learn new things and get corrected on mistakes I wouldn't have noticed for a good while probably! Maybe you want to consider joining my newly created discord channel(link in description) for easier and more in-depth conversations, but feel free to leave comments here as you please, it's just an idea :)
Another great video! Just a suggestion, if you move the puft to an enclosure with polluted oxygen you can collect unlimited slime and therefore unlimited algae. With this setup you can also avoid the puft dropping the slime everywhere.
I’m glad you enjoy it! That is a great tip, I have actually never used pufts for anything useful. I will give that a shot when I see an opportunity for it!
I might be wrong but a ranch usually has to be the maximum size of 96 tiles in order to support 8 hatches with automation. I think you only have 84 size rooms here. Maybe you will have to build them a bit longer ;) Also if you build a door with a tile above it just after your ranch buildings, it will stop the hatches walking all through the room without cramping them. That way the ranchers will spend less time getting them to the ranching station.
@@BierTier I thought you would get round to it, but I also thought you could use some comment engagement on your videos haha. Great work, I can't wait to see the rest
Never seen someone take on a flatulent dupe before. Pretty funny to see all the natural gas floating around and it's actually less of a disaster than I thought but it's only 60 cycles in. That dupe has plenty of time to cause trouble
Remember that there is a 3 degree buffer you need to overcome to melt or freeze something. -0.6 + 3 means you need to get it to 2.4 degrees. And to freeze, it needs to get down to -3.6
Retook ONI a few days ago after 2 years in an engineering job, I took it in a completely different way. I landed in your channel and your engineer view is really helpful for this kind of game, absolutely love how you communicate. Keep up with the great videos and thank you!
Fancy little time lapse. I’m guessing based off the tech tree that you’ll eventually come out of the underground? I can’t believe the crew is so suicidal that they want to drown in polluted water haha
The dupes are not the smartest, suicide is definitely always an option for them, lol. Yes, you can get out of the underground, but then you go straight to space. There is not a hell of a lot of "surface building" going on, mainly because the asteroid we are on ahs no atmosphere, therefore all gasses get sucked straight into the vacuum of space if we are not careful once we reach it, haha :)
Hi there! I am now on episode 6! Just a question: in this series, do u go into base game space travel and explain how to set up a rocket on base game? And breach the temporal tear (which is like the ending of base game)🚀 thank u!
I do set up several rockets in each season, but truth be told, I don’t know how close it it to the base game from the DLC. I haven’t played the base game in so long 🙈 I ended the game in season 1, but not with the temporal tear. Will maybe do that ending in Season 2, not sure yet how we will get it to a close 😊
Mainly Muckroot is the answer. This first playthrough I also played on easy settings, so the calorie intake is halfed. My second playthrough is with more difficult settings ;)
Hey there! I just realised I am following this series on the base game not spaced out! Is it still fairly similar to the base game? I know you’re playing classic mode. Are there any changes I should be aware of?🎉 thank u!! Love ur work.
It is still fairly similar to a certain point. The beginning and mostly everything that happens on the main planet are the same. Overall, you should still have fun following along :) I'm glad you enjoy my content, thank you :)
I don't understand why they have individual bed rooms. 8 beds can go in a barracks. doesn't become a bed room till you get big plastic beds to put in there.also those bigger beds don't really do much. going to require alot of space just for an army of dupes when with two barracks you can easily have 16 lined up. also bathrooms on every floor? just go ahead make a bathroom floor then you can switch it out to a plumbing bathroom loop later. dupes on different schedules so few toilets for more dupes to use. so if you have 3 toilets to start seperate dupes to 3 per schedule plenty of toilets. off gassing of polluted stuff just put those underwater so no off gassing. but here I think you doing it for the oxygen since you don't have any oxygen production besides the that one next to research. how you growing food already before locators? I always have my beds toilets and water pump done by first day science row set up and working on digging the area out for where my 5 hatch ranches will go the second day. if you find a pip just keep moving those around with a box of seeds and let them plant away.
Several reasons for the bedrooms(and yes, I'm aware of the barracks): 1. I prefer the aesthetics. 2. If you have a snoring dupe he gets automatically separated from the rest. 3. If a dupe needs light to sleep you can build a lamp and call it a day. 4. I can use the extra spent time on building to explain other stuff around the base, so it's also a good way for content ;) The bathrooms are separated because I use the water to heat the base since I'm on Rime. So the water gets naturally and equally separated throughout. And, again, I like the aesthetics. The off gassing is indeed for the oxygen in this particular case, I don't mind some polluted oxygen floating around. I build my base slower as I would normally without a video on purpose, so I have time to explain. I also don't have a "standard start", I like to mix it up. Sure, building it faster is more efficient, but that is really not the goal in this series ;)

Exactly right, I made it a bit short, will be fixed in the next or second to next episode once I realize it 😊

A flatulent dupe is blown way out of proportion, it's really not that big a deal. You'll see throughout the rest of the series ;)
A small point which might help you is that if you fill up a liquid loop using a liquid bridge it will not overfill
I usually do that manually, but you are of course right, with a bridge it’s easier 😊

I know you had an issue with your water freezing earlier. Does polluted water not freeze?
It does, but at a much lower temperature(around -20c) than normal water(around 0c)
