No More Mess in Your Project Windows Using Track Versions | Cubase Q&A with Greg Ondo

- Опубліковано 8 сер 2024
- Track Versions is a useful feature of Cubase which helps to speed up the editing and productivity of your music productions by making it easier to non-destructively try out different ideas or arrangements, without having to create a new track or a new project each time. You can easily add track variations, select and rename them, change the color, record different MIDI parts and audio recordings, experiment with different tempo tracks and chord tracks, comp parts from different Track Versions and more.
We hope you find this video entertaining and useful. If you like what you see, please leave a comment and tell us what you think.
Thank you.
Your Steinberg Team
Special thanks to Greg Ondo.

Cubase for life
Cubendo for life.
I use track versions on a daily basis, but I didn't know HALF of the possibilities and flexibility inside. Thank-you Greg!
The last tip about using versions to keep an unedited vocal is brilliant!
It's SUPER
The sky opened and all became clear. Thanks for this. The use cases made it all make sense.
Another Reason Cubase for life!!!!!
That's a great new feature. Explained exceptionally well by Greg, as usual. 🎶
Greg is the man. Clear as cristal, as always. Thank you!
Always learning from Greg! He is a great instructor! Now, I know how. This was very instructive. I have always used the first method on songs and it was a bit time consuming to shuffle tracks back and forth. Thanks Greg!!!
Great video Greg. Worth mentioning that you can use Folder tracks to "sync" the track versions without selecting all the tracks. Makes it easier and less time consuming.
Your explanations are always clear and helpful. Thank you Greg!
Another terrific feature. Thanks for the run through, Greg. 👍
Thank you so much for this tutorial coming from an fl user, multiple patterns were something I used often in there to get comprehensive versions, with this I can replicate Ideas in a different way!
Hi man. Great to have you back. Always so clear and straight to the point! Thanks.
20 years using cubase and I never realised this... 🙄 Thanks! 👍
We will give you a free new feature without even having to download anything. :)
Nice one. Thank you
This is so dope. I am so going to use it. Thank you Greg
reason 51836 why cubase is the best! 👍
ahahaha
Consistent useful videos. High operational density, and concise.
Thank you Greg great tutorial!
Super helpful, thank you!
Thanks, this is really useful - I should have been using track versions all along!
Very very handy Greg cheers! 👏👏👏
Thanks for the lesson, never used track versions much, maybe I will now
Very nice feature should help me clean up a lot of space
Nice feature. I wish Cubase had the Scratch Pad feature found in Studio One that enables one to create a whole new session on the right side of the screen (with a sliding divider). You can copy an existing arrangement and rework it, or record new parts all in the same workspace. But track versions looks pretty versatile. I need to work with it more!
would like to see Track Versions for VideoTracks too!! please..Steinberg!
EDIT: wow...now we have this in Cubase 13 !!! Thank you Steinberg!! 😊
Nice to following❤❤❤
Cool!!!❤❤
I use track versions for single tracks. It is a lifesaver. Remember, however, that any audio processing on the source track will also appear on your track versions unless disabled at the source.
Very useful right at the end to use track versions to keep unedited original when editing.
Thanks for the video. I have a request, Can you make a video on "Pragram Change" in Cubase?
Cool. What about midi capture recording?
(How) can this be also used to hide away older comp tracks from the bounce during consolidation for phase coherent alignment of multiple tracks in a folder?
You can take the lanes and convert to track versions to hide them as you please.
Is this feature only available in cubase Pro?
Can you also use track versioning to try different Insert Chains and/or Automation?
You can use mixer snapshots for that [except for automations] or even channel's fx chains
Not really the track versions will change the content that is played on the track but the track itself contains the automation so the automation will remain constant when switching track versions.
Hi greg, how r you dragging groves to your timeline, i just tried this but it doesn't work like what i see you doing. thank You for all you do.
Make sure that when dragging from Groove Agent that a pattern pad is selected as opposed to an instrument pad and that you are dragging it to an existing MIDI or instrument track.
Who following too comment yes
Only in Cubase Pro. I use Artist 12
Worth the Upgrade, Pro.
its more like Part Version than Track Version. The track is the same..
Why is everything in stereo also the voice, makes no sen6
The tracks are just being sent to stereo groups which is why they are all coming out as stereo. If I routed tracks to a mono group they would be recorded as mono. You can mix both stereo and mono groups within the same project.
Hi,I have a question! When i import a midi song to cubase I chose option create and then the midi parts are automatically conected to halion 3 instruments. But when i put for example an eq on let's say piano, this eq applies to all channels in cubase. Is there a solution to treat individual tracks without affecting all channels?
