Why wouldn't anyone not want to use Cubase? There are so many hidden gems with it. Thank Dom for showcasing another one.
Because audacity is obviously superior
I couldn't agree more!
What?😕@@DavidValles

For those who need or want a more simplistic recording program there are things like Audacity or Reaper. But once you get your head wrapped around the Cubase ecosystem, besides realizing why it is designed the way it is you also begin to understand all the features that make work easier in the long run.
Because it stopped listening to their customers years ago see midi mapping , tap tempo and other essentials
Yes, this is a great feature - it would be even better if the automation could also be saved. Maybe in the next version of CB?
yes. same for Track Versions please.
MEE STOOPIDO, because of the camera icon I thought the snapshot was only taking pictures of the console 🙂, like for the VSTInstrument picture feature. Thanks for this Dom!
me too😂
Same 😅
Im overwhelmed how many features Cubase has. Steinberg did an awesome job just like you. Always satisfied by watching your tutorials👍🔥
Steinberg please read comments, most informed users will tell you what's needed to make Cubase better, here it's saving full mix with track versions and AUTOMATION.
Thanks Steinberg and thanks Dom. Please give us a solid C14 with smart modulation and smart songwriting tools to improve the Chord pads too.
...and solid multi track editing. Choosing takes for various tracks simultaneously ( comping, for example on drums) an be a nightmare if the indicators of the takes in the file names don't line up for all tracks.
That's incredible how many hidden functions there are in Cubase I didn't know about, and this is so useful! I always had trouble with changing settings but very uncertain whether it got better or worse. An amazing feature!
This was a very excellent video. I didn’t realize all the ways a mix snapshot could be customized. Very helpful! Thanks Dom.
Thanks Dom. Again a great video about a feature that I didn't recognize up to now. As a home studio producer I like Cubase for some years now and I don't waste time to learn and compare and discuss DAWs. There's still so much to learn for me about the Cubase features to improve my workflow.
This video's feature is a dream come true. Thank you, Dom ❤
I second that.
I just switched to Cubase pro after using logic, protools, Reaper and S1... now i LOVE Studio One but the subscription model was bugging me and pushing it a bit to much so moved to cubase and after 4 days... its FREAKING AWESOME!! 🤘
former S1 user here - and now back on Cubase 13 too. And I´m very happy.... Cubase has now all the great features from S1, finally!! And much more...
I will sell my S1 license in the next time.
Great video Dom; Snapshots is a hidden gem in Cubase.
Wow, thank you. I am still making seperate project files, in Cubase 13!
Wow...As surely many others I was not aware of this great feature...Thanks very much, Dom! 🙂
UNBELIEVABLE feature I didn't realize ! Thank you!
I always knew this was there, I never knew how simple it was to use. Wow.
Game changer! So I'm about to change the game! Thanks Dom. 😁
Great feature, great video! Thank you, Dom!
Im new to Cubase and your videos have helped me immensely. I saw the Snapshots tab but never xlicked on it to see what it did. Thank you thank you thank you for this video! Its a time saver. Now I dont have to go searching through my files to find mix bersions of the same song!
I had no idea about this! What a game changer for me. Thanks for making us aware of this. If only it included automation it would be the best thing since sliced bread!
This function is exactly what I needed,
even though I didn't realize i needed it
I wish life would be like a Cubase
i learn so much with your videos! Thank you very much!
Would love Steinberg to implement Akai’s Cyclic time stretching in to there Sampler channel.
Been using Cubase for 20+ years... never knew about this feature. OMG!
TNX that saves my for saving Multiple Project Versions - GREAT
DP has also had this feature for a long time. It's useful for preproduction (checking levels for preferred balance) and a static mix where you're not redoing the automation. I guess you have to be happy with the sound/level aspect of the mix before you can go retouching the automation tracks.
nice to hear Austin singing! :)
This is brilliant! Like someone else said, I always assumed this was the equivalent of the camera icon for VST instruments! 🤦♂ No more [project name]_ver 1...[project name]_ver 2...[project name]_ver 3 for me!! 🔥
Big thanks again Dom...was helpful video...
Great function! Thank you, Dom. Does Cubase also remember the information when I add or remove a track?
This is a game changer for me. No more waiting for projects to load. Thanks Dom! Cubase has thought of everything.
🤯🤯🤯 That's a huge one. Thank you Dom!
Great info Dom and by the way it sounds super. Thanx😊
Thanks ! best tuto on this subject. Thanks.
This was extremely helpful! It will save me so much time and space, instead of saving completely new project versions.
Yeah this is great a professional feature, not only for mixing purpose but also for creative purposes.
Absolutely great function!
Wonderful. 🎉
Wow thx a lot made my dayyy didn't know about it at all
Cubase is a awesome program.
Amazing, Dom! Thank you!
This is GOLD. Thanks, Dom!
cool song, catchy hook and groove
Amazing!
I've got so many different versions of many projects... and that was there in front of me all along!
Thanks, Dom.
The big issue with this great function is that it is a "mixer snapshot" and NOT a "mix snapshot". To be the later (which would be a big and most useful thing) automation, trackversions, etc. all would have to be included.
I knew about it but I had no idea how powerfull it really is! Definitely gonna start using it!
Dom. What you neglect to mention is that the Snapshot feature is useless in most circumstanses. It is ONLY of use for static mixes, which are very rare these days. The instance you introduce automation into the mix (pun intended), it becomes useless.
What I've been hoping for, for ages, is for Steinberg to introduce a Mix Versions feature. This should look something like Snapshots, but also take automation into account. It should also include the Track Versions and the Arranger Track(s) data. Now THAT would be very useful! It would mean that it would be possible to contain, not only revisions, but also versions (regular, radio, extended, etc.) of a mix all within one single Project file.
But until that happens, we're stuck with having to juggle multiple project files around. One for each mix (revision)!
yeah it's almost a fantastic feature :-) but no use at all without recalling automation.
Thanks for that info Dom, and I was about to ask the same question as svenisaksson when I saw his post. I was a Digital Performer user before switching to Cubase, and the MIX TAKES feature was one that I missed from DP, as it includes automation data as well as the static snapshot. Really a great benefit to have all mix VERSIONS in a single project, and perhaps that could be implemented in a future update (?). Cubase is an awesome daw though, and your videos are MUCH appreciated!
I wonder if you can use dynamic automation for volume , and save snapshots of trim ???
The workaround I found is to add a last insert gain plugin in every track.
@@diegoalejo15 How does this solve issue that the Snapshots don't take automation into account?
Great tutorial! Thanks, Dom!
Awesome as always.
Great info! Thank you Dom!!!
Next to Track-Version this makes everything easier when working with customers.
You never disappoint! Thank you Dom! 🤙🏻
This is great! I used to save several projects but this is better, also because of the notes you can write to a version! Thanks Don!
Fabulous !
Thank you, Dom!
Fantastic video.
I didn't know that this feature was available (ever). Time saver or what?
Great tips thank you
Thanks for all Master...!!!
I had no idea. Brilliant feature. Thanks for demonstrating this one.
Thanks for sharing
Thank you Dom! When we are at the end of a mix and the CPR is large and long to load and reload, this saves so much time! I will start using this right now:)
🤯 thank you dom!
Love this!!..
Always wonderd what that camera icon was for!... Nice simple explanation!.. thanks Dom.👌🏽
Amazing!
superb!
That is a very cool and cozy working environment~✨
THANKS MAN! i had no idea this featyre existed. Cheers for all your great work man.
[slaps my forehead!]....Of course....how did I miss/forget this option. Bless up Dom and Steinberg...Cubase is the GOAT...love it
many thanks.
Would be much better to be able to store not only a mixer snapshots, but project edits also in one click.
In most cases client edits consists of both mixer settings and track edits.
Steinberg could implement something like a "project versions" inside an existing project. Currently we need to save a new track version for all track along with mixer settings.
No sabes cuanto me ayuda saber eso, antes hacía muchas salvas diferentes de un proyecto para cada ajuste que pedían. Eso pasa x no leer el manual 😂
I don’t like Cubase. But I have to admit this is impressive
Nice 1 Don
this is golden
I wonder if it can do the same for arrangement too! Would be LITT!! Because sometimes, the client's changes may include tweaks in the very arrangement itself.
QUEEEEEEE? osea que no era para tomarle fotos a la consola? hahahaha quede como estupido!
muchas gracias Dom! eres el mejor!
Wow thank you Don amazing features.. How many features is still yet hidden to know 🤔
You are the best
Dom! Does this feature work with track automation? For example different channel automation in each snapshot. Because if it's not - it's useless for me... :(
Thanks for question! Same for me!
I tried it, and it sadly does not seem to work with automation. The main problem I've encountered is that once you have 'read automation' enabled, it will translate it to all snapshots. 😮 It's kind of not what I was expecting. If anyone has an idea on how to use this with automation. Please feel free to share 🎉
@@RobyMBeki I created a macro to activate Trim (with to start and to end options) and write enable all tracks which allows moving volume faders but I can´t save snapshots.
@diegoalejo15 Valid point. This is another downside. Even with Macros, it's quite tedious to use snapshots the way they're intended. Have you tried to combine it with the Mix Console Snapshot Recall Settings?
Beatiful. In competition with AI, we should have a flexible Logical Editor with asome various artistic presets that instantly change the genre of the work, and a variety of artistic parameters...
I always thought that camera was for taking visual snapshots, ie: jpegs, and I've never used it.......this opens a whole new ave for my work flow! 😁👍
While Mixer snap shots are quite useful what would be really awesome is the ability to export and import snapshots across project arrangements; This is incredibly useful when you’re versioning for example or making cutdown versions and radio edits. Currently this is not possible 🤔
You legend
This is great, thanks. Important question: does the snapshot only save adjustments to the mixer window and native plug-ins? What about 3rd party plug-ins?
Thanks Dom!
Since I am always adding automation, I haven't really used mix snaptshots much, but let's say you wanted to keep volume automation on some tracks while going back to an earlier snapshot, how would you do this?
Great video as always.. sorry for the off topic, but what is the wrist pad you have aunder your trackball? Please 🙏
✅nice
Thnankyou so much sir
Sir plz tell about main stage in cubase
Sir plz tell about swam vst
Hi. Thank you for all your cubase videos. I have a question. Do you consciously choose a specific plug-in to achieve a specific effect or do you rather look for, for example, among different compressors, which one will sound better and experiment with the sound? (excluding those that you choose consciously, knowing that they will sound perfect with a given object) :-) Regards. Krzysztof (Poland)
Hello Dom, is it necessary to mix it in -3 db in stereo out. Thank you 🙏
Thanks a lot Dom !
Great vid! Got to admit, I under-utilise this Cubase feature too! 😫 What plugin does your editor use for those nice outline zooms into parts of the image?
can you change non stock plugins in those snapshots?
Hi! great feature, but one question: what happens with the automation when you make a change in a snapshot? should you redo it? ie change in the fader levels of a channel. Regards!
Hey, Cubase, what can you say about the quality of the mixdown export between Cubase 5 and Cubase 10 and up. Is it better, clearer?
90% of the time a revision is is made on specific details of a specific part, in other words: AUTOMATION. So until these versions include this it is pretty useless. Until then, “Save As” 😜
Would be great if you could batch export and cubase automatically know to export stereo tracks as stereo and mono tracks as mono w/o having to do two separate exports. That or I'm missing something here.
I didn't know about mix console snapshots.
is there anything like this on the older versions?
❤
