Love how the pretty glass lizard was freaking out then decided you were okay and modeled for ya! Good chuckle when that king seemed to look you right in the eye, then proceeded to eat your arm. 😂 owwwww
I really enjoy your videos! So knowledgeable about what you are finding, and also enjoy that we see other things than just snakes as well. Thanks so much!
Beautiful scenery! Good work. I have the glass lizards in my yard. Less and less with climate change, but I put huge amounts of wood chips in the back yard, and got a return of native insects and snakes, I have the Scarlet Kingsnake as well. I built an air layer woodchip wall about three feet thick, 25 feet long and three feet tall. I should get some Racers again I hope.
So many things in your videos that I've only read about like the glass lizard, to actually see and combined with how you handle them, it's excellent, great knowledge and humor.
I can't get over how nonchalantly that beauty of a kingsnake bit you. I was expecting those fast, angry strikes...Instead she just casually opens her mouth and starts gnawing on you. That was hilarious. XD Beautiful find, guys! I love your Herping vids~ (Also dang that was a BIG BOI of a bullfrog. The envy my little childhood frog-hunter vibes felt at that moment. XD)
Does that hurt? I love snakes, and whenever I find one I always freeze up to pick it up. It doesn’t look painful but maybe the shock freaks me out too much.
@@MysteryRobin285 Honestly, I'd say it hurts a LOT less than you expect it to! I admit before I had my own, I was always terrified of being bitten...To the point that it took me WAY longer than it should have just to take them out to spot-clean. ...Then I got bit. And didn't even realize I did until my poor friend freaked out and screamed about the blood. So! I'd say, yes, but DEFINITELY not a lot! It's the strike itself that'll scare you more! Tops, I felt a small sting for maybe 2-3 seconds...Then I was just annoyed they bit me. XD
An eastern milk snake did that to me once I held it for 15 minutes and then all of a sudden it opened its mouth and slowly bit my arm it surprised me for a second but didn’t actually hurt
Hey Noah, The lateral skin fold is thought to allow their stiff body expand slightly when needed for breathing or swallowing a large insect like a grasshopper or katydid. I found a nice Western ssp. in Arkansas years ago. They are beautiful animals. Wait, I could be wrong. My wife just suggested it is a place for them to hold their wallets.
Please tell me you took the tick out the the lizards ear.. i seen the little flinch at 12:25 too with the rat snake when it moved its head quick they make me jump a little too sometimes lol
When I lived in Monterey, California I used to catch alligator lizards pretty often. I think the majority were southern alligator lizards and were brown with black and white crossbars, but sometimes I would find black and yellow speckled ones, or grayish ones with red backs. They often had those gray mites clinging to them behind their ears, or in their armpits. I would usually remove the mites by pinching them close to their mandibles so I could pull them off without leaving bits stuck in the lizard. The alligator lizards were generally similar to this glass lizard, but not as smooth, and with legs -- slightly more lizard shaped. They could move like snakes, with a side-to-side undulation.
Welcome back. It seams a while from your last vlog. I've always enjoyed your videos. Maybe you can do another Eastern Indigo video again. They are my all time favourite snake. Looking forward to your next outing. Stay Healthy and Safe
Garter snakes are one of the most beautiful snakes they have so many different colors and patterns it’s absolutely stunning. I own 6 and breed them. Love them and they are especially unique in how active they are all day everyday which make them a great display animal
I keep seeing “them” every year around my garden, “they” always seem to make a home under or around the wooden boards next to the fence, and then evacuate for a few months once “they’re” aware I know where they live, but then come back in a few months or the next year. The reason I have “””they””” in quotation marks is because I’m 90% sure it’s the same individual that I keep seeing, not different ones. Maybe he or she is like “da boss man” or the “dame of the realm” for my neighborhood, and my neighborhood is it’s territory, or just what it thinks of as his/her domain, and is the entire word as long as he/she is concerned.
That glass lizzard was amazing looking! Did you manage to be able to remove the tick from his ear before releasing? Thanks for the video. I always love your content!
Never even knew about a glass lizard, what an amazing creature! Love this channel and learning about all the things I don’t see in Ohio, you know your stuff sir!
One time while fishing in a Pond for Crappie in South Dakota, I had set my pole down on the bank while looking for something in my tackle box, and a BIG BULLFROG jumped up and bit the little Beetle spin I was fishing with catching himself! They can e pretty aggressive creatures they've been known to take ducklings and garter snakes even!
Today when I went herping I found 2 plains garter snakes, 1 common garter snake, smooth grass snake, central fence lizard, five-lined skink, 1 western painted turtle, 4 red eared sliders, and 2 ornate box turtles! It was a pretty good and nice sunny day to go herping and they sure were active! Unfortunately I didn’t have my camera, if I did I would definitely had recorded all the reptiles!
I love how you help the animals across the road. It's very sweet. That Glass Lizard really calmed down after you held him for a bit. Did it like being handled?
Awesome video. I was cleaning some debris from some work I had done on the house, and found a beautiful Northern Copperhead. I relocated her to a state park, because my neighbors would have killed her for sure.
Best thing about glass lizards for me ? You get the excitement of catching a snake but with No musk!! Haha it’s the little things . but really they are a real cool find here in coastal NC ❤️
When I lived on Hilton head Island we would go to the store and get our lunch and sit on the curb and eat and glass lizards would come up to us and beg for food they would eat anything we would give them
Aye we both seen something unusual today I got a video of a very large black racer catching and eat a decent sized skink out in the open. Definitely something I will remember.
I think the lateral folds extend when they breathe, eating a large meal and carrying eggs. At least that's what I've read. Very cool animal. And fyi 13:53 those are some yummy looking huckleberries
@@yellowtang9770 I have huckleberries on my property. There's a couple different kinds but the confederate variety is my favourite. I live in Georgiab just for reference
Have you ever seen an albino glass lizard? Several years ago, while removing debris from our yard, we stumbled on 3 or 4 albino glass lizards, and yes, they moved just like the one you found. Scared the crap out of us, cos we never saw one before. This is in the Glynn County area of Georgia. They were about the same size as the one you found in this video.
I have never seen a glass snake which is really surprising to me. I live in a very diverse habitat, from dry Sandhills and pine Flatwoods, with many swamps and creeks. I would love to find one though
I caught the king of the bullfrogs once as a youth..swear he was so huge you couldn't cover him with a five gallon bucket!..found your channel and i'm a big fan of it..Have hunted snakes all my life in SC and have caught loads of kings and have had several Black rat snakes too. The biggest eastern king i've caught was over six feet!..:) Strong too!!..Even had a female lay eggs and i hatched them all..
Alligator Lizards also have that fold where its sides meet the belly, and they are very closely related. I grew up on the central coast in California in Coast Redwood habitat and on the west slope of the Santa Cruz mountains the Redwood forest gives way to shrub and grass, and every town between Monterey and San Francisco has a multitude of Alligator lizards of 3 different species, and the same over in the San Joaquin valley and Sacremento valley and north to oregon they are quite possibly the most commonly found lizard in California. The Runner up would have to be the little western fence lizards that we call Bluebellies! The Alligator lizards on the west coast are from light to dark brown with a spackling of squarish black and white checker that are quite small, they have eyes that vary from yellow to gold, on the east slope of the Sierra Nevada mountains is the Panamint Alligator lizard and it's the same color only the black and white speklings are closer together and form bands or cross stripes across the body, much like the Alligator lizards you caught in Texas and New Mexico, The Northern Alligator lizard is my favorite as is larger in body size (bulkier) though not as long as some of the others, they have Golden eyes and they pay very close attention to what you are doing, I had one that had two tails because it almost dropped its tail but not all the way and the new one grew back where it split giving it actually a forked tail! I named him George and had him for almost 3 years, he was very interactive and would eat mealworms right from my fingers and after the first day he never tried to bite or squirm away, he would sit and chill in my hand and fall asleep and like being gently stroked on the top of his head. Very cool lizards!
I think it's a 50/50 shot that the grumpy snake at the end was a cottonmouth. I would have still moved it, but I think I would have gotten a few sticks just to help move it along.
Great video I’ve noticed that you don’t find many Dimondbacks it would be cool if you came down to Panama City and go over to shell island(they changed the name from snake island to encourage tourism) it’s a barrier island on the gulf that has more snakes that anywhere I have ever seen in my life 90% are Dimond’s and some giants too
can you answer me this I learned that a rat snake is different than a pine snake. But are corn snakes different than Oak snakes or are Oak snakes also pine? LOL I'm old and confused. I like snakes though. Ty

The climate is being destroyed by China and India, but nobody says anything.
I love these videos so much. Blown away by the diversity you have around you. Could watch these all day
You don't know how bad I needed this video today. Thank you!
That glass lizard was absolutely gorgeous.

Did you pull the tic off the glass lizard?
That frog was trying to commit suicide 😂
That is the most beautiful glass lizard I’ve ever seen! The spots look almost turquoise!
I've only ever seen glass lizards in field guides! It's so colorful! It looks like it belongs in the ocean.
Ok. King #2 wins on a few levels. The way it was found and dang what a stunner!

Big bullfrogs are so under rated. Nothing compares to a bullfrog screaming 😂
