Man it would be awesome when you make diy baits if you could show us a fishing trip when using them
My grandpa used to make something like this, best bait I’ve ever used
I love your enthusiasm. It is AWESOME. Will be making this soon. I've tried the strawberry Wheaties. Very sticky.
I've used Wheaties years ago . They work great in current . They are like a dough bait
Very cool. I tried making some one time and just ended up making a mess. Thanks for sharing this. I’ll give it a try.
Just got back into fishing after 25 years drt spell .. caught 1 20+lb carp in s local pond on corn .. love your videos and currently making my first small batch of forever rice for the weekend.. keep making those great vids now that i'm hooked .. i'm just sayin
I made 2 different batches and I caught fish on both at the local paylake. Fixin’ to make a 3rd batch and try out a new flavor. Appreciate the detailed instructions and video. Tight lines, sir 🤝🏼
Looks like Dollar General has everything we need for Carp bait 😋
I'm just getting into carp fishing. Thank you for the tip. I just might experiment with making my own type of bait. Thank you for sharing.
That last carp bait recipe was pure fire! If nothing else is biting, I'd throw that out and just fight big carp until my arms were nice and tired. As soon as my bucket of that first forever bait recipe is gone...nah...I can't wait that long, I'm about to have 2 forever bait buckets!
My dad and I really enjoyed the videos
He has a head injury and bass fishing is hard for him but carp fishing is perfect
Thank you for posting these video!!
I hope he gets better .
@@FishinNStuff
Thank you.
Nice video 🎣👍. You can also use Red-bull in the mix , instead of soda pop. It almost has the same effect on Fish, sending them into a feeding freezer. I don't put sugar in my mixs , molasses or corn steep liquor. To much liquid, then add some ballis # 1 horse feed or panco bread crumbs. Pigeon feed is good as well, tho you have to per-soak it for a day . Don't waste the juice, as that will go into the next batch you make.
you never stop amazing me with new content!!! Another great video my friend
Thank you Lyle. I watched your show last night on break at work
I used some that was 3 years old I guess and made with moonshine,it worked so well the owner of the lake came checking my bucket!!
I had that happen to me once too lol .
I used to mix Wheaties and big red soda pop for carp fishing.
That's good bait too
That's a really good idea we're going to have to try that bait. And I promise everyone who reads this everyone of the DIY'S on Fishin N Stuff is well worth checking out
Thank you Sir I appreciate that
Another excellent tip. I live in a carp and catfish paradise........ Thank You again
If you can find a mullberry tree that hangs out over the waters edge this is a ((free bait) to catch carp and once in awhile a cat fish. Simply pick some mulllberries - worm a mullberry on your hook - n fish under the tree. This can't be beat, sitting in the shade, drinking a cold drink, n catching one of the toughest fighting fish around.
Will be trying this out today. Your 30oz. blend fits ( after blended ) into a Folgers 3lb. storage container. Keep up the good work.
How did it go?
big thanks from Slovakia! can't wait to try it.
Back when I was around 10 through 15 yrs old I was big into carp fishing just off the Delaware River about a 1/2 mile from the mouth of the river into the Neshaminy creek. They called it a creek but it was basically a small river lol. But anyways I used to make a bait back then out of corn meal creamed corn sugar vanilla extract and flour. I would work it into a nice thick dough and eventually I would have about a 3 Inch around big ball of this bait and boy oh boy did the carp love that stuff. And for catfish I used to as a kid wake up around 3am walk up to the Delaware River boat ramp when nobody was around with a ultra light rod and size 8 hook and catch me some eels. Then I would walk back home cut them into like sliced up hot dog looking pieces toss them into a zip loc bag freeze them then go back to bed till around 6am when I would get back up then grab my eels oit the freezer and go catfishing all day long and again boy oh boy those channel cats loved them some cut up eels.
Great story Sir. I had similar adventures a couple hundred miles south of you. Still Fishin.
@@paulmoss7940 I'm still fishing to just more into bass these days and lure fishing. Fishing has been apart of my life as long as I can remember and now my children are huge into fishing aswell.
You sound like that story was last week. Aka can’t write for Shyt and sound like a little kid
I think we all have that story a get the save feeling about fishing . I grew up going fishing with my dad for catfish and Carp using the same dough bait for the carp . The bait I made on this video is designed to break apart. My rule of thumb is no current pack bait, if there's a current use dough bait
@@FishinNStuff I agree with current pack bait is ideal. The bait you made here is still a great bait but not river bait unless no current.
here in Texas people still use both types of Wheaties cereal to fish for carp and they catch pretty big one. your carp bait work here to. but try using wheaties where you live at and let people know if it work there so other people in other states can try it
I have used Wheaties before . But I use it in the river or in current . The bait I made is a lake bait , it's designed to fall apart and chum the area
Just tried this one out works well caught carp 2nd cast
We always used a box of bran flakes and big red soda for our kids fishing tournaments
You present QUALITY Information my friend. You are a GREAT Fisher-neer (fisherman + engineer) !
Subscribed straight away, greetings from Australia.
Thank you very much Mate
Nice recipe, I add freeze corn to mine! Works wonderfuul
I’m making the other recipe as we speak! 😂 I’m taking my daughters Girl Scout troop fishing this weekend.
I how yall catch a bunch
Wow I’ve never thought of doing that ever genius idea going to smash it next week at the pond
Way back in the day. A box of Wheaties and a bottle of vanilla, and I had a fun night carp fishing.
They work good too
So do the carp eat the rice bait? Or do you use it to bring them in and the carp eats the foam bits after it falls apart?
Well I don't use foam when fishing , you use puffs or cereal. I talked about that on my other carp bait video . But the carp eat both but the rice is used as a chum to attract the carp
Any particular cereal or puffs work best???
Never been much on carp fishing, although I did live in Southern California for a bit and had a lake there (Irvine Lake in Orange County) that had 20-90lb cats and 40lb carp...nice treat to play with when the bass slowed down.
I’m in Southern California, riverside county, I’ll try Irvine lake. Any more spots you had down here?
@@Angel-wi5pu for cats or carp?
I just made both forever rice and oats. The both smell so good,I want to eat it! I used strawberry fago soda, grape crush kool-aid, and r&w red grape carp juice in my rice! I have a 8hr tournament tonight,I'll let you all know how the baits worked out!
I hope you crush it . Good luck
Unfortunately I wasn't able to catch anything on either baits, but that's not to say that they are not good baits to use! I caught all of my carp on trout chow. I think the forever oats will work better in the warmer months and the rice pretty much any time of the year, but as of right now, trout chow for me is the way to go!It will vary from pay lake to pay lake, not all carp in every pay lake prefer the same bait, but with that being said, you would have to check with some of the locals that fish the lake you're planning to fish. I hope this helps anyone for what it is worth! Tight lines everyone, tight lines.
Just peanut butter oatmeal and alil bit of river water is the ultimate dow bait for cats and carp its cheap easy and the amino acids and fatty acids in the peanut butter draw the fish in from miles
Looks like a bait I will be using in the future, good job Keith.
Luv the ambient sounds in the background you live with lol
Lol
Good stuff Keith, carp are a blast to catch and great catfish bait.
I agree , very good fighting fish . The Asian carp are the best for bait but we don't have em around here
What brand of strawberry snow cone mix do you use and what kind of oats
Thanks for your always striving to save a buck so we can continue fishing.
There is one thing that also attracted me to your channel ,,,beside your handsome good looks ( no I don't have limp wrists) and clever wit ( now you know I'm suckin up.) Most channels are always in the beginning of their presentation ask for the like and subscribe...you always wait till you have presented then ask....it's like how do I know I " LIKE" what I have seen before I seen it, You know what I sayin???you know!!!!! Thanks
Thank you very much . I've got to where I don't even ask on my newer videos and people still subscribe . I figure if they find any value in it they will . Even if they don't I'm still glad they watched
Strawberry drink mix and molasses worked for me way back when to add flavor and binding. My wife and I just watched the video, and she was like, "He didn't say how long it took to break apart?".
Well...
Another great video sir!
Tell your wife I'm really sorry I forgot , it took just a little over 3 mins
@@FishinNStuff lol, no worries. She won the bet!
I always used non iodized salt. I thoughts the iodized salt would dry the bait out to where it wouldn't pack.
Try putting grave; and rock in your aquarium. Be nice to see how the flavor spreads in a more realistic setting.
I feel like the red color of the flavoring packet helps at least as much as the actual flavoring itself.
Awesome thank you.
Can you use sea salt? Love all the videos keep up the good work thank you
Looks like a great carp bait, usually I make the dough balls. How long did the rice stay together in the tank before it fell apart? You didn't say in the video.
It broke up in 3 mins which is about perfect
As rice is common in my country, I'll give it a try
While your waiting for this to set up... does it matter if its covered up? Like in an air tight container/bucket? Or, is it better to leave it uncovered?
Heck, I remember using my Mom's vanilla and strawberry extracts. That was for an oatmeal dough bait and in caught the carp and a whoopin'.
Lol
What if you added a cup of flower to the mix to make a binding agent so it won't fall apart as fast.
You could try that . It would be great for river fishing . But in a lake it falling apart is the secret . It turns into chum
ive been using Big Red soda since i learned to fish for carp in Texas.
Yeah big red is the BOMB!!!
Ole Texas boys shared recipe with me years ago!!!...👍
Brand flakes cereal n Big red soda pop!!!!!!!
@@mattharbison2011 yup, thats the mix i use, sometimes bran and corn flake. i mix a lil bit of sweetcorn juice in there if i have it and press some kernel on the ball or on the hook depending on the rig.
Cream soda and Wheaties makes great carp bait. Sometimes mixed in some over ripe banana in there too.
Can you show how you tie your rings? Wanting to try carp fishing in my local lake
What if your rice dries out since it was sitting during the cold season can it be brought back to life?
Love your videos brother great job keep up the great work my man see you on the next one
Love your channel bro showing you some love from Cali!
Thank you
Perhaps you could use sticky rice.
With ingredients suggested and it may stay packed a little longer.
Just a suggestion 🙂
You want it to break apart as fast as possible so your pickups float out from the bait. Your hook is attacked to a “pick up” or a corn pop cereal
Is there any particular way you need to store this? Or is room temperature ok. I love this video and cannot wait to get home and make it.
I'm not saying you have too . But I always like to Sir mine at room temperature
Great looking bait cheers
I really like the bait with the corn syrup as it stays on the hook well when I cast it. Would you say this bait is better than that?
Certain times of the year different baits work better . The rice stays on the hook good while casting but nothing beats the bait your talking about for casting . But the rice is not the worst by any means . It's goid
what about those finger gauze ,add bait inside gauze tie to hook
The "right temperature", to use it multiple times?
Love this recipe!
Great recipe.
If you can use any liquid . Collect a bunch of mulberries and extract the liquid from them ! All carp know what a mulberry is .
It might work . You might need that stickiness that comes from the soft drink drying out . But im not sure
That looks delicious!
I'll probably never go fishing for carp or catfish, but when I saw the notification I decided to watch anyway since it had been a while and I was just wondering the other day when you were coming out with new content.
And to prove my cred as a viewer, as I watched you start combining the ingredients, my brain immediately yelled, "Another 5 gallon bucket hack!!" 😂
Good stuff nonetheless, as always, and I'll see you on the next build! 👊
Lol hey good idea 💡
I put out a video last though lol
@@FishinNStuff oops. Missed that, we were out of town last week so I wasn’t paying attention to my notifications. My bad. 😎
I eat this for breakfast. It pretty good.
Lol
lolz with or without miilk/JD/coconut?
Great video. You do a great job
I love this channel! How do I tie those leaders?
I should make a Viewty on that
I followed this to make bait to use this coming week (vacation time, going to finally catch a carp!). I couldn't find any strawberry, OR cherry soda though! I'm not a soda drinker anymore so I don't know when that stuff disappeared. All I could find was orange, so that's what I'm running with. Orange soda, orange Koolaid, orange jello mix. Then I threw in some borderline stale Cheerios to bulk it up a bit. Hopefully this works!
Lemme tell you, making this stuff got me so hungry... All that fake orange smells so dang good.
How susceptible is this stuff to heat? Spring is here and it's already getting in the 90's where I live (and it's not done rising, not even close). I fish out of a kayak (mobile battlestation, I use it to find inaccessible bank spots to fish from) so room is at a premium. I don't have space for a lot of coolers.
It should be fine . The baits with the syrup ingredients are more likely to get soft . But I would keep it out of direct sun light . I have a video with a syrup recipe that I've caught 100s of carp with . Just make sure your bank fishing and there's no current . Because these baits are designed to break and fall apart .
Love your stuff, bud!
Thank you buddy . I appreciate that
Where did you get the snow cone flavor mix? I've looked on Amazon with no luck.
I bought it at a fishing store , this is the brand it was
www.whatspoppinup.com/shop/Snow-Cone/now-Cone-Syrup/p/EeZee-Concentrates-Snow-Cone-Syrup-Mix--1-pouch-sku-EzEzz1pouch.htm
Love you dude! How long did it take for that bait ball in the fish tank to fall apart?
I'm dirty I forgot to say lol . It took a little over 3 mins
Make some of the rod holder that you where showing in this video for enclosed reels because they're still lot of people that don't use open reels like the ones you use in your videos
You can make the cups more square and they will work for closed face reels too . Ive used em for my kids
Thank you for sharing 👍
How well does it stay on if I were to cast it? We have grass carp in our city lake that would be a blast to just catch and release..lol
It stays on pretty good . Not quite as good as the last bait , when casted but they both breakup in 3 to 5 mins
Wonder if you could use the juice from a can of corn... 🤔
I don't see why not .any liquid will work
Video suggestion. How about a catfish cooking video
Hey Keith Iodized or non Iodized salt?
I’m looking to use a liquor in my forever rice to give it a try should I still use salt and sugar? How much liquor should I use in a 28oz box?
I'm not 100% sure but I believe it's worth trying . My dad use liquor years ago in dough bait and it worked good
I would like to feed the fish in my pond. What kind of fish food is good for this?
They sell pellets for feeding fish
Thanx. Just subscribed. Just getting into carp. Can an Octogenarian (that's really old) learn new tricks? This bait looks better than the mess I have been using. My head is full of rigs. I want something simple. Is there any video that gives details on the pop up rig you used, and the how our pack type worke without a a method weight? BTW, I saw on another channel a way to make a pack bait rig from 1 !/2 in wall anchors. Works.
That British style fishing , we just use short leaders and pack it around the hooks . It falls apart and the pops pop out
I use a variation of your original bait video. It's AMAZING!....I mean AWESOME...
Lol it is awesome
Im sorry to ask this but..... Being in Canada we might have different terms. Could someone please explain what the Styrofoam on the hooks was supposed to represent? Thanks y'all
It was a puff which is heath food . Kind of like pops cereal , which by the way also works well . The bait is designed to fall apart after 5 minutes of being in the water . Then the pops float out and they are on the hook . It's kind of like chumming a spot . The carp swims by ducking up the bait which is every where like chum and sucks up the pop ,,,but there's a hook in it lol . It works great caught 100s of carp that way . But it won't work in current , it'll just get washed away and not work . It'd more of a lake bait..........I hope that helps
Awsome man love the channel
Thank you Sir
You never said how long it took to break apart. Could you add some crisco, lard or bacon fat to help hold the rice balls together longet
You generally don’t want them to… pack bait is made to break down; the carp come in and hoover it up along with your hookbait…
You want it to break up , it's like a chum . I'm sorry I did forget to show the time. It took 3 mins to break apart , which is about perfect
I love your videos brother, how do you store this bait?
It keeps a long time . But ive found the only change of messing it up is in a building where it gets cold then hot . So if you can keep it in a controlled temperature like in a closet in your house , it'll keep longest
I'm getting ready to make this and I have everything in the video except the snow cone mix. I have one little problem though: my box of rice is only 28 oz and math was never my strong suit so I don't feel like doing it at nearly 2 am. I'm going with the biscuits & gravy rule, except I'm going with chocolate gravy. (Man-o-man, my aunt Ruth used to make some chocolate gravy so good it'd make your tongue reach up & slap your brains out- lol!) I'm adding 2 oz. sweetened, shredded coconut to make up for the rice. It's the only thing I have that I think might mimic the rice for absorbency, plus it adds a little more sweetness. And I can always "fix it" tomorrow if I need to, right? At least I hope so....🤞🤞🤞
Experimenting is how we learn lol
How does this type of bait hold up to river currents?
It won't , this type of bait is for noncurrrent conditions. It's designed to fall of the hook and chum your spot
Need a good trout dough recipe. Cherokee NC, locals have some dough they use that's brown but smells close to Berkely trout dough, except it works 1000x better. Spent all day caught nothing. Guy gave me a bag of it, caught 9 monsters (10 is limit) under 2 hours.
I've never used a trout dough but now you got me thinking lol
cool vid thanks keith
I always put some ladies stockings around breakup bait.
You don't have too
Can you use vinegar?
Mine came out to stickie and would not break. Help
Try to put some flour to keep that together in water
It's suppose to break apart .
I think I missed how long it took for it to fall apart under water. How long did it take?
It was just a little over 3 mins . Which is pretty good
I love this, thank you. And it looks like you made your own pick up rig?? Have you made a video to show how you made that yet? Because I need to know ;)
No but I talked about it more on my other carp bait video
Thanks. I'm learning a lot from your channel :)
Dollar tree has 3liter bottles of soda at a unbelievable price of 1.25$
My fishin hole (river) is about 6 hours driving away. So I'm making baits, and saving them in the freezer. But I have a vacuum chamber and I'm interested in saving my bait recipes in mason jars under vacuum. Have you ever tried canning your bait for use when you can get to a distant fishin hole? I wanna make some of your Forever Rice, can it (cold vacuum), and use it when I can get to the river (Colorado River). Do you think this crazy idea might work?
I think vacuum sealing it with work well . I know it would work with the millet bait I make , that's a different video
@@FishinNStuff Thank You! I'm going to give it a go. I went to the $1.25 dollar store and got me a bunch of stuff to make up some bait. I made some up and vacuum sealed them in 1/2 pint jars. Now that the Grandkids are home from school I wanna make some Forever Rice to try out. (I'm going to get them to do the math. ;^) )
I'm making some tonight for tomorrow I'm going with Kool-Aid and Fanta cherry I'll post my results tomorrow and ill @ fishin n stuff
Man it would be awesome
I bet the Asian carp love it. 🤪
