    After arriving in Lombok I had a few days to get Trade Runner ready for her 4 month break alone. My list of things to get done was quite long but luckily this isn't the first time I've winterised a boat. Hopefully some of these things will be of help to those of you who've never done this.
    Thanks for watching

    The only two other things i do is to fresh flush the outboard and spray some lanolin onto the anchor chain. Great vid 👍

      Yeah good points. I normally flush the outboard but it totally slipped my mind this time.

      No problem if you remember to do the flush when you come back. André

      I know that I could have made a dramatic video like, "OMG, I've got 2 days to winterise my boat, can I MAKE it?" I just cant make myself stoop to that.

    Excellent video Vern. Got Trade Runner all safely put away for your 4 month to France.
    The beer you left behind in cooler/Fridge hopefully still drinkable on your return after cooler them down. Yes what a difference the hair cut made the difference between day and night. Yes looking forward to next video and seemed as though you took 4 flights from Indonesia to France. catch you later cheers hope family is well

    Some very practical tips! Protecting the prop a good one (Id have to put a note on the throttles reminding me to take them off :-). Curious to see the state of the underside when you get back. I guess you have to leave the masthead on and its sunny so the battery should be ok, I just dont like leaving the boat with any switches on. I wonder if theres some tech that could be put at the mastheadled (led, battery and solar panel).

    • @SailingLearningByDoing
      @SailingLearningByDoing  8 місяців тому +1

      The mast head light is LED and uses 1amp in 24 hours. I turned off 2 of my 3 solar panels but still have 180w panel topping the batteries. No problems. I left the bilge pumps on too as it a shaft drive boat.

    Hi Vernon and Marie, I think there is a few things that some one could learn from your 'winterisation' . I hope you padlocked the tender. Cheers André

    • @SailingLearningByDoing
      @SailingLearningByDoing  8 місяців тому +1

      Thanks mate. Nah, didnt lock the tender. It's funny, no-one will steal a RIB here, well, they will but only to get the outboard then mostly the RIB will be slashed and sunk.

    @stuartlennox66 8 місяців тому +1

    Well done, you did it, well of course we know that you did but it was good to watch, so when you get back it will be nearly time to toddler proof the boat.

      Glad it was helpful!n Its really a simple thing to do(if the water is not too cold) and works perfectly, zero growth after months
