I live in Chicago and I played a round this summer in Bratislava, Slovakia with two of my colleagues. One local and one from England. What tied us all together on the course? Talking about the latest (at the time) Break 75 video. Congrats Rick and team, well deserved!!!!!
Honestly love this show so much, the candid conversation that Rick and Guy always have is so entertaining. Makes it so much better that I’ll treasure a birthday shout out from Rick and Guy for the rest of my life!! Thanks guys (even tho it was a few weeks ago)
15:37 Shout out to Golf Mates - their Scotland Untapped and Hidden Gems series showcases just how amazing the golf courses are in Scotland. Break 75 Scotland Tour 2023? 👀
Big congratulations for making the list. Your many coaching videos have helped me improve my game. Keep up the good work. And I like the real emotions!
Thanks for the memories Rick. I visited Scotland 11 years ago to play St Andrews. The day before I was lucky enough to play 36 holes at Crail. What a great course. I would go back at the drop of hat to play there.
The breakfast ball is just when playing casual/recreation golf with your close buddies, it’s the one free swing you get after getting out of the car. Most people in the states don’t get to the course and go to the range before playing casual golf.
Looking forward to Fridays as I'm a member of silloth and pleased it's getting the recognition it deserves. As great as it is in winter it's stunning in the summer 👍
I've been listening to some podcasts lately where they talk about how the negativity can cause extra issues in your game. Think about the positive thoughts, don't mention the mistakes you make. I do love watching your videos either way!
Just felt like yesterday telling people watch your videos to learn the game , I think you had no more then 20000 subscribers and everyone at the range thought I was making this up that some guy from the UK was influencing a guy in the states, but I kept watching faithfully and finally broke 85.. and you broke into the mainstream golf world and the bank. Lol congrats 🎉 Rick maybe you can break 80 one day. Lol
I had the pleasure of playing both Crail courses this fall. Fantastic courses, and I had a wonderful caddie who happens to be Iona's dad. A great person, and he did say that Iona is the best golfer in their family. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed those courses as well.
Huge congratulations Rick, the team and all the other UA-camrs on the list. I hope the VIP bar at next years Open has this top 100 list….some others may be asked to leave the VIP area 😉🤣
Hi Rick I’m a 3 hcp golfer and suffering bad to the point of giving up but your vlogs have kept me positive your a massive inspiration to myself your a true professional thank you you show your rounds of golf uncut and and it can happen to the best thanks again I’m looking forward to the new season
As always guys this was a blast to watch and informative. The crazy banter between Rick and Guy is just hilarious. In fact, I hope Jonesy gives them a call and sets them straight , that he really drives a volvo state care ...LOL
Any advice on transitioning from heating irons off the mat to on the fairway? When it comes to duffing mats are obviously more forgiving but anyway I feel a lot more confident from hitting off the mats compared to real turf
As someone who uses the breakfast ball concept occasionally, I think it is more of a thing when you play a round with no warm up. I hit two off the first all the time. Unless it's lost I still almost always play the first, I'm more interested in getting an extra swing in to loosen up. Not sure about the UK but in my part of the US the local courses I play, only 2 of 7 have a driving range so that first driver swing can be pretty chaotic.
Loving the pod as usual gents and congrats on making the list. I played Crail a few years ago on my way to St Andrews and thought it was amazing. Very underestimated course
I've done a few 4 hour golf livestreams before. It's a lot more real and can interact with the audience whilst you walk to the next shot. 👍 It's great fun, honestly.
Congrats on your high ranking, very well deserved, i've been following you for years and still enjoy every video you put out. I think your genuine style of presenting has made you so popular. Well done Rik and big nod to Guy who has been a great co host 👋👋👋👋
Loving the content as usual guys. Keenly awaiting the arrival of Jonesy. Just a thought, have you considered giving people a RS branded item (ball for instance) for appearing on the podcast/filming with you 3 times.
Actually played Elie golf course on a whim when my friends and I were in Scotland 22 years ago. A bunch of Americans stationed in Germany took a 4 day holiday in Scotland just to play a bunch of golf! St Andrews Bay, the New Course, Eden Course, Elie, and the Executive course at St. Andrews.
Regarding the range balls thing. I'm not sure what the law is in the US but in England it is not theft. There is a need to prove an intention to permanently deprive the owner of the property. If he intended to hit the balls down the range the next day there is no theft. May be some kind of civil matter but it's not theft.
Firstly congrats on making the top 100 most influential people in Golf. Secondly thanks for doing videos at hidden gems in Scotland can't wait for that and the range night. Break 75... might need a break... time for different content. Cam Smith and LIV GOLF, being an Aussie I personally wouldn't have had much interest in watching if Cam and the other LIV GOLFERS weren't a part of the Australian PGA Championship. Shout out to young David Micheluzzi for finishing where he did as an amateur after winning the Western Australian Open a few weeks before, beating some significant players. David is a champ of the future and someone watch out for.
Not sure what deserves more respect, 24th on the list or playing Silloth in November. Make sure you do go back to Cumbria in the Spring, it’s amazing!!
I think your emotions are perfect. They are real, and you allow yourself to enjoy the highs when they come. If DJ tried to do what you do, he’d be lucky to have a few thousand subs. I imagine it would be boring to watch. Keep doing you!!!
I'm watching this a couple of days before Christmas, so I've seen all the episodes you referred to and I can tell you that your Break 75 at Crail is the best episode you've ever made and because of that episode, I have placed that course quite high on my bucket list. Ione was just an absolute joy to watch and the course looks like one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.
The commentary around Cam Smith was interesting. Here in Australia he is loved, regardless of playing for LIV or not. We love the fact that him and Leish and Scotty have all come back to play our tournaments. I think it will be interesting to see how he plays in the majors as his golf ranking drops because if he keeps challenging and even winning sometimes, at some point the OWGR will become a laughing stock because he is definitely one of the best players in the world but he won’t be even in the top 10 eventually. He will always be welcome to play in Australia though, and he draws the crowds. Plus the other Aussie players like Scotty and MinWoo don’t care about him going to LIV, he will still be one of the guys. Plus I expect he will still be selected to represent Australia at the Olympics regardless of world ranking. Not sure how they will handle that because they used to base selection on the world rankings but surely he gets selected still.
Most of the time I go to the range you will see 1/2 full buckets of balls laying around. Never have I seen someone just walk off w/ what they had left. lol...blows my mind someone would do that. Pete Finch #63, Dude Perfect #90
Rick you should feel very proud of your achievements. Always enjoy your content. Tell me how quick will a current liv top 50 golfer fall out of the top 50 if they cannot earn ranking points because they are on the Liv tour
I’m from Canada 🇨🇦and had the pleasure of playing Elie. According to the Starter, the submarine periscope is from a Sub that was removed fromm service in the British Navy because it was kerosene powered which made the sailors sick. 😢 This round was part of our bucket list trip which included The Old Course, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns 😊
Life conspired against me the past week so actually got to your break 75 last week before this. Keep a stiff upper lip. I know you know this but when you are making some changes in your game sometimes things get worse before they get better. Keep at it, you will eventually get the results you are looking for.
I saw Jonesy pull into the driving range with 3 alloys on his mazda, on the back drivers side was his black metal spacesaver wheel on, he walzt into the range with his red green black G30's, he bought 50 balls,............he ordered a bud lite , he was crap! slicer, shanker, snowballer, .. poor old Jonesy!!
If Ricks up there it’s bang on 😂 A lot of golfers I know don’t even really watch golf - other than the majors. And even then it’s probably the Open and Masters. But they do consume a bit of this sort of content.
I worked at my local course for almost 10 years and people steal range balls all the time. People actually think that because they paid for the bucket of balls that those balls are their property.
Why are we in an environment where many people feel like they have to express outrage at the why other people live their lives? Rick said it: the winner in the LIV/DP issue is the player, Cam Smith. I support people’s right to make decisions about their own lives and careers, and what makes people think they have any valid basis to criticize? Do I ever take range balls home, for any reason? No. Do I were golf hats inside? Sometimes, and I don’t consider it a major issue, that I do. Support the Pro golfers you want to, watch LIV or don’t, I’ll respect your decisions, but also respect other golfers decision, particularly when they don’t affect you directly.
Hey Rick, I have shanked the ball 3 times, three putted 5 times and lost a ball creamed down the middle ( due to all the leaves), however Idid not steal any grange golf balls!
OMG...I 'temporarily stored' range golf balls in my car once. I accidentally got too large a bucket of balls and after hitting about half I knew there was no way I would hit them all....I put them in my car and finished them 2 days later. I didn't feel bad about it until now.. Granted there is no attendant to get balls (just a machine)...and also this place would never give a rain check....but still I probably shouldn't have removed them, lesson learned.
Yeah, two off the first tee is pretty much a casual round thing and most of the time it is because you haven’t had time to warm-up on the range before your tee time.
There are SO MANY RANGE THEIVES and they all act EXACTLY the same way at courses Ive worked at or frequented as a player. Courses all need to police things more strictly
Regarding the Top 100 list from your "Today's Golfer", I'm not sure if Americans would view Rick in the top 100 golf influencers much less the top 50. I'm in the U.S. and always mention Rick with regard to different golf topics/subjects and I'm always surprised by the response, "who?" and I work at a golf club! If anyone knows Rick, it's the younger golfer... but to be honest, it doesn't matter. The Rick Shiels Empire is already established whether you wear blinders or not...
With the people I gave played with it was always 1 mulligan per nine. Off the tee only though. Have always tried to not take it but I have. Usually only off the tee and into water or the trees. In competition we would never do that. But casually we would.
The Australian PGA is a co-sanctioned event, meaning the PGA cannot exclude LIV players unless both in agreement, and the Aussie PGA would never exclude Smith or other Aussies
The PGA Tour of Australasia control the Australian PGA Championship and the Australian Open. The DP World Tour just co-sanctions the event, and have no say on whether LIV golfers can play events on the Australasian Tour.
Rick Shiels, what do you think of the various PGA related companies and entities all of a sudden posting all kinds of golf videos on UA-cam? For example, I've been watching LPGA final rounds (2 hours plus) on UA-cam from a year or two or more ago. They are still pretty stingy on PGA events like the PNC event I think it is called where Tiger Woods and his son are playing. They give you five minute clips give or take. No hour long clips of course. Now you see the Golf Channel and other channels showing all kinds of PGA related stuff. I give full credit to LIV for this! Thank you LIV!
Lmao maybe it’s different here in the states but I live on a golf course and bring a giant bucket of balls with me home every day and the rangers wave and say see ya tomorrow .
Important never to forget that as educated and experienced one may be at testing one will always be handicapped by a) ability or lack there of, b) mental and physical state at time of testing, c) conditions (a, b and c strongly supports the need to test on 3 separate days) and d) the fact that club fitting is becoming the normally and not the exception so tweaks can change performance. #TourExperienceGolf @TourExperienceGolf go into great detail.
Full court press against Greg Norman - that will be another backfire for the PGA. Ouch! Tiger came out and said he needs to go (kind of arrogant), Rory and the head of the R&A I believe as well. Full court press!
Love hearing about all the “old” courses. Living in the US I would be interested in knowing what the courses cost to play. Not what u pay but how much it would cost me if I went there to play. Just a thought!?!?
I can’t tell you exactly how it is in Scotland or England (I suspect it’s identical) but here in Ireland the the way it works is this. The members pay their yearly subs (variable. Could be €400 a year, could be a few grand. Depends on the club). Visitors who are members elsewhere in Ireland (Golf Ireland membership included in your yearly fees) normally get a better rate which isn’t advertised very clearly. Winter rates are less expensive. But overseas tourists pay the full whack. Clubs use it to subsidise their other incomes. They reckon that if you’re going to fly from another part of the world with your golf clubs, pay for a bus or car hire, hotels, restaurants and drinks etc., you can afford to pay for the golf. So at a historic course you will need to book well in advance and a round will cost €200-400. The good thing is that, while pricey, they’re all open to anybody. Unlike in the USA, there’s very few courses which are members only etc. So you can rock up to any of them with a booking and play. So one of my local courses (County Sligo) is €205-€225 to play the championship course during the summer season. In winter it’s only €50. As most of the famous courses are links courses and playable all year around, you could save a ton of money by braving the cold windy weather and playing them in winter. One tip if you prefer summer golf is to read reviews of other courses. Often there’s incredible courses you’ve never heard of that haven’t the profile of the big names and you could play a few top courses and loads excellent “hidden gems” and save a fortune.
Thanks Dave! An additional question.........do ur “municipal (read local/city) courses” work on that principle? Pay the yearly fee then get reduced rates. Taking out the “upper echelon” courses what would average local daily golfer have to pay for a round of golf walking at a “city” course? Here in central Iowa a senior golfer can walk 18 holes at a dozen courses for $18-25. Appreciate ur input! Interesting to get a little insight on another part of the world.
@@ronkarr3113 We don’t really have municipal courses here. The U.K. have municipal courses and the costs are similar to US prices. In ireland you pay your yearly subs and then you play without further fees. But you have to book your tee time online because during busy times, between other members and visitors, you are not guaranteed a tee time. Courses vary from €20 and up for a round. The standard of course tends to be very good for the most part. Grass grows well in the climate so you don’t get dirt patch courses like in warmer climates. For example, there’s a Darren Clarke designed course 20 minutes from me that you can play in high season for €65 daytime and only €25 in the evenings. My local course (links) varies between €40 and €150 depending on the time of year. Most people walk here. Most clubs have carts but only in the last 20-30 years or so. Before that you would rarely see courses with carts. Walking is the norm.
Wonder if all the other professional sports team will make changes 🤔 Football: can't tackle anyone Baseball: can now use corked bats Hockey: 3 on 3 NBA: shorten the court lower the net Soccer: free kick on every penalty Poker: you see each other's hand
At my course were closed to the public on the range unless they are either playing or staying on property. Guests get range privileges otherwise for an all-you-can-handle day pass for a larger fee. Solves a ton of advantageous behavior

We played Balcomie earlier this year, a real hidden gem. Can't wait for the video!
Summer 2023 the epic tale of "Jonesy Watches Break 75" in theaters everywhere!
This should be titled "I caught Tigers Covid"
Brilliant banter as always 👏

Silloth the best place I’ve ever played. Love it up there. Well worth the trip from Bolton. My brother drove from Portsmouth to play 😂
I had the pleasure of playing both Crail courses this fall. Fantastic courses, and I had a wonderful caddie who happens to be Iona's dad. A great person, and he did say that Iona is the best golfer in their family. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed those courses as well.
Hopefully we get a Rick Schiels/Bob Does Sports Collab. Rick and Bob Vs Cold Cuts and Fat Perez.
Huge congratulations Rick, the team and all the other UA-camrs on the list. I hope the VIP bar at next years Open has this top 100 list….some others may be asked to leave the VIP area 😉🤣
Best pod cast always entertaining and interesting look forward to each one thanks chaps. 👏👏👍
You Matt Andy and Pete versus for good good players in an array of challenges would be amazing viewing!
Hi Rick I’m a 3 hcp golfer and suffering bad to the point of giving up but your vlogs have kept me positive your a massive inspiration to myself your a true professional thank you you show your rounds of golf uncut and and it can happen to the best thanks again I’m looking forward to the new season
Happy Tuesday! Always look forward to Tuesday afternoon for this 😀
As always guys this was a blast to watch and informative.

53:33 "I'm sorry, I'm trying to get my words mixed up here" hahah hillarious. I am gonna use that one. Love the work guys!
You guys basically just described the British version of me, name and nick name are on point with jonesy
I've done a few 4 hour golf livestreams before. It's a lot more real and can interact with the audience whilst you walk to the next shot. 👍 It's great fun, honestly.
I did a 9 hole one the other day, played a 2 ball scramble with myself
In America we do have breakfast ball but also mulligan. I play one mulligan on front and one on back but also breakfast ball on the first
This was a great podcast, really enjoyed Guy and the back and forth banter and had a few good laughs. Congrats to Rick top 25! 🎉
I Googled it as I live in Northern California. I love ANY coast! Really beautiful. Love you!
Congrats on your high ranking, very well deserved, i've been following you for years and still enjoy every video you put out. I think your genuine style of presenting has made you so popular. Well done Rik and big nod to Guy who has been a great co host 👋👋👋👋
I've been to Carlisle twice, once on purpose, the second because we got on the wrong train in Newcastle and went right back from whence we came :)
Loving the content as usual guys. Keenly awaiting the arrival of Jonesy.

Next time you go to Siloth, you should head round the peninsula and play Southerness, its a great course too!!
@rickshielsgolf Rick and Guy come and play at Morley Hayes golf club, Lee Westwoods academy school for break 75!!
10.30 the word is vicariously Rick 😂

Jonesy'e Friday was an emotional rollercoaster.
Always the best thing on UA-cam.
Thank you!!!
Excellent conversation. Thank you.
Rick and guy , you both need to play Bovey Castle in Devon , What a great course that is , would love it

There's a Stanley Thompson designed 9 hole where I live that has 2 parascopes to see over the hill on 2 holes.

I would kill for a mark crossfield/ rick video.
winter practice. blanket on wall with spots marked. wiffle golf ball. surprising how they react with true strike.

Do you have any plans to play at Adare Manor? Incredible course
Congratulations Rick! Holy moly. What an honor.
Dreamt of seeing Rick at Silloth (hometown) for probably 8 years but missed it👎🏼 let me know next time😂
Chevy Chase and Adam Sandler are my top 2. They know what the game is-fun.
Always a great listen. Thanks gents.

Am going to tell this story to my kid tonight at bed time.
Bravo.
Shout out to good good golf! They made the list
Totally should do a live break 75! Have Lee Westwood and Dan Whitaker do commentary.
Why those people
Full court press against Greg Norman - that will be another backfire for the PGA. Ouch! Tiger came out and said he needs to go (kind of arrogant), Rory and the head of the R&A I believe as well. Full court press!
Break 75 live, as in go and watch.. would be amazing
Wonder if all the other professional sports team will make changes 🤔
Football: can't tackle anyone
Baseball: can now use corked bats
Hockey: 3 on 3
NBA: shorten the court lower the net
Soccer: free kick on every penalty
Poker: you see each other's hand
The thieves game sounds like yours Rick 😂😂😂😂
Iona to fill in when Guy goes on one of his many many holiday ;)
At my course were closed to the public on the range unless they are either playing or staying on property. Guests get range privileges otherwise for an all-you-can-handle day pass for a larger fee. Solves a ton of advantageous behavior
congrats on being number 24 Rick. You're number 2 on my list buddy. Obviously behind Tiger Woods but it's really close. Keep up the amazing work.
Tiger is acting like a moron lately
There's a little Jonesy in all of us...
The title got me and I waited 45 minutes for the list??
A "Break 75" live on UA-cam would be great!
Lol. Guy said with a straight face..."Paige Spiranac, got a nice spread in there as well" Good grief.
