  • Rain. It changed so much about what we did and how we operated. From rain gear to rain locations to different procedures in the rain. When to operate a ride, when not to, when to put on a show, and when to just hide indoors.
A behind the scenes look at what a former worker at Disney World, Silver Dollar City, and Busch Gardens Florida experienced in his time working at the parks. From driving large safari trucks around live wild animals while cracking one silly joke after another, to spending 5 years as a #PhotoPass photographer at #WaltDisneyWorld and seeing and experiencing all sorts of things, to being a conductor and #trainrobber on the famous Frisco Silver Dollar Line at #SilverDollarCity. With 10 years of working in the parks, there's lots of stories to tell. Here is some of them...
Not only did I work in theme parks for 10 years, I've visited a whole lot of them as well. Here's some stories of great visits, not so great visits, favorites, reviews, and much more.

Once heard an SDC train engineer ask a patron, who had asked ‘Why don’t they stop the rain?” Engineer asked the lady: “Would you like a meteorological answer? Or would you prefer a theological answer.” SDC veteran ride operators are the best!

So fun watching this after seeing you earlier that day. Glad it all worked out and that you got to film while it was raining.

When I worked at Kennywood, we dreaded rainy days, not because of the rain, but because of the low crowds, which made for a long, long day! It was always exciting when the exit tunnel flooded Enough that we had to use an alternate exit behind the jackrabbit. Believe it or not, there were guests who would wade through the tunnel water almost waist deep, rather than walk a little farther to use the alternate exit.

Cedar Point in the rain is amazing. Walking the flooded low zones in the morning to try and open and knowing we’d only be running 1, maybe 2 trains on Vengeance. Watching everyone come back soaked from the ride. And it would move so slow in rain mode. That island place loves to rain and flood a few times a year!

I worked at a sister park of Cedar Point, when it was still being converted from Paramount ownership. Being friends with the characters, every ride could be down and we still would be out. Now, the lightest drizzle, the Peanuts are inside. Worlds apart.

I went to Disneyland last February and it was pouring rain both days--and when I got there on day 1 I made a beeline for Splash Mountain; rode it three times in a row; did the same thing the following night since Fantasmic had been rained out, and all six times I had the log boat to myself, with a combined wait time of (get this!) eleven minutes, and that includes all six treks put together from the queue entrance through the main line (no lightning lane) to the boarding dock.
Crazy part is I was wearing my six flags lifeguard outfit and my raincoat just for that ride. And before you ask, I slipped into the restroom at hungry bear cafe to take off my joggers and turtleneck, even though they were I was already wearing the lifeguard gear underneath it--refer to the most watched video ever (on this channel) for more context.

I used to work in pregamet home centers and it was raining so hard and the flooring department would get flooded and you could not get the tile and one guy needed a few tiles so I got a u boat cart stood on it and using the shelf's I pulled the cart in the water grabbed the tile he needed and pulled the u boat cart back to him

I love hearing the words "Epcot is now Weather 101 due to lightning in the area" when I'm at stroller parking out by the Land pavilion.

At SFSTL, being a lead in Culinary for carts and stands meant mine would close most often. If there was lightning close enough in the area, I’d be told to close what I had open(I never made that call) I decided to close my stands ahead of time if there was heavy rain very close or would be blowing in on my team members. From there I could send them to an indoor location in my Area if they wanted the hours or they could go home early. My park was never crowded after rain, so if things could open back up so only some or none of my locations would reopen. Sometimes the weather would look so bad for the whole day after all the management was already there and there would be talks of the park doing a half day or close, and there would be no need for that much dining staff(I had already clocked a million hours in any given pay period so I always volunteered to go first😂)

2 things. The ice cream store I worked at would have crowds disappear. We'd serve the masses while yelling over the yelling over the rain and end. My throat hated those hours.
As a travel agent I plan on having a plaque of Sir Willow's do not ask these questions for a little enlightenment for the guests. "Why can't you turn the rain off/where's the dome" is going on the list.

Hello I hated wearing the poncho in Disney when working there. It was big and to me plastic like that smells a lot to. I tried to get cover when working stroller parking but the rain in florida it blows so that was super hard. During Halloween parties working in Disney if it rains and your by cosmic rays you get to go inside which is nice but it’s rare though. The scary thing about Disney is Tomorrowland floods a lot and people run and you have to tell them not to and if your at the laugh floor guests crowd the door and if it’s a party night you can’t let them in. My socks and shoes got drenched a lot it was cold and horrible.

How does those costume and make up react with rain if it comes suddenly? Will the get soaked right away or do they have some rain gear qualities?

What! You can't just command " peace be still!" And have the storm stop? I'm teasing because your a pastor. I know, don't put the Lord thy God to a foolish test. Yeah....that " dome". Lol!!!!
