    I bought this exact bike for just the frame. For a 27.5 it's the best geometry I could find. The chain stays are a bit long, but I love how low slung it is. With a 140 travel Marzocchi bomber, the steer tube is more like a 65 degree. 66-65 is ideal for aggressive trail riding IMO.

    I picked this up in a size small for my wife. The gear range was a little lacking and the cranks just sounded like garbage. Ended up swapping a SX drive train I took off my Stumpy and it was a huge improvement. Thinking of throwing my 140mm RS Silver fork on it as well.

    I just bought one. It’s not perfect, but for the price point I think it’s hard to beat. I got rid of my Trek Marlin and picked this up because I wanted a 27.5 and I am not disappointed. It definitely needs a new fork but out of the box, it’s a good deal.

    For a $1k bike it is a great bike to get into sport with. The bike has no weird proprietary standards and is completely upgradable. Want to save some weight upgrade the wheels and tires and its a rocket. Want to go faster through chunk, upgrade the fork.

    Can you run 29 inch wheels front and rear on this frame?

  • @MikeinCC
    @MikeinCC Рік тому

    130mm steel coil fork. Yikes! That's gotta be 7lbs by itself. Good news is the wheels are serviceable with the Shimano hubs, and the drivetrain isn't completely horrible. Throw a 130mm Recon on this and it's a pretty capable bike.

    I love my 27.5 still... It's an XC bike but still a blast to ride.

    • @StainFPS

      Geo and overall build is far from an XC bike, that's an All-Mountain/Trail bike. An XC bike wouldn't have 27.5" wheelset.

    Pretty funny how Specialized dropped price of Fuse Expert from $2900 to $2500 when they are completely out of stock on their website and won't be any new stock this year. For $2500 I would have bought one.
    Besides the Expert you are better off buying just frame than getting those lower specs where you need to replace all parts anyway.

    if i put a 150mm fork What angle would i get in head tube angle and seat tube angle?

    • @FullKarenMusic
      @FullKarenMusic 3 місяці тому

      I have a 140mm that looks to me to be roughly 65 degree. So a 150mm might put it to 64. Also depends on the sag, but with the right parts and know how you can have it set to a lower height.

    wonder can you slam the dropper post due to the water bottle bosses.

  • @snowman22ism
    @snowman22ism Рік тому +4

    The problem with this bike is that you pretty well have to replace everything.. The brakes, drivetrain, fork, dropper post... brakes are weak, drivetrain is old, fork is meh, and dropper is too short.. I would say this bike at its original price was WAY too much money.

      Chisel for XC frame, faster on easier terrain, and lighter weight; Fuse for trail frame and more comfort; Advent > SX for me; both are excellent frames, the base chisel is just under 27 pounds the base Fuse is 33.5 (he might have had pedals on his)
