I have to say it seems a nice gesture from Prince Philip, the only one to greet and smile at the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.
Tbf the queen mother had resentment towards Edward since she blamed him for the early death of her husband and Wallis because she used to called the queen mother cruel names, same with queen Elizabeth ii she said she still had love for her uncle since he was her uncle but she had resentment towards him for giving up the throne and throwing her father into the spotlight even though he wasn’t trained or ready to be a king
@@oceanfive8201 I have heard that argument but it holds no water. Are we really expected to believe the following scenario? Oh no, my husband has to be King and we will be forced to live in all these large mansions and palaces. We will have to endure people bowing before us and waiting on us the rest of our life. Oh the tragedy that we will have to go around wearing the best and most expensive clothes and jewelry. If The Queen Mother and her husband didn't want the job then he could have abdicated too. See the Queen mum glide past the pair of 'em like a galleon in full sail. Head turned completely away, to greet the old dear beside them. Cut 'em down like saplings in the path of a diamond encrusted bulldozer.
There's a perhaps apocryphal story of how some fawning royal journalist had said to her once that it was extraordinary how Edward VIII had abdicated to marry a commoner and the Queen mum replied:

@@RONALDB62 Maybe, maybe not. If being king hadn't been thrust upon him, Prince Albert may have lived a lot longer; its fairly well known that the stress of being King during the war lead to his increased drinking and smoking which contributed to his illnesses and early death.
The bloody duke of Windsor.
Queen mum ignored Duchess Windsor on arrival.
Interesting only the lady in the second row curtseyed to the Queen and Queen Mum. Maybe the other ladies had encountered the Queen or Queen Mum earlier in the day. Wallis only showed this honour/respect when Elizabeth, Philip and Charles visited the Duke in 1972, a few weeks before his death,.
The small hat perched on the head of the Duchess of Windsor reminded me of the small crown worn by Queen Victoria.

For what they did to the Windsors, the last thing the Queen Mother needs is a curtsey.
I like Wallis's hair like that.
I feel sympathy for the Windsors, especially Wallis, no saints , by any means, but not the villains they have been made out to be. A campaign of vilification has been waged against them on every level, no blow too low, even up to the present day. I can’t help feeling the Harkles are the perfect revenge, what goes around comes around .
Have the Harkles actually done any damage though? If anything I feel like they've entrenched support for the royals by portraying pro-Harkles as 'woke traitors'.
I mean they only offered to help the Nazis conquer Britain, in return for the Throne, but sure the were vilified
@@Ater_Draco Utter Rubbish, with not a shred of proof, but I suppose it appeals to the gullible !
They were literal Nazi sympathizers and their is decent evidence that the Duke was colluding with Hitler to be reinstalled on the throne as a puppet monarch should Hitler win the war. That's the reason why they sent him to be governor of the Bahamas during the war, HM Secret Service could keep an eye on him and he couldn't do too much damage as the governor of a remote colony.
I feel bad for Wallis but not David, who gave the Nazis crucial information and endangered many. He was a traitor and if he hadn't been a royal he'd have been shot for treason.
She didn’t even look at Edward
She wasn't a real Queen. She was a queen consort (the wife of a real King). Historians say she was a cold hearted woman that didn't even really care about her children.
A Queen Consort is a real queen, hence why the word "Queen" is in the title. What you mean is that she is not a regnant queen, but she was a "real" queen. There are no fake queens. There are different types of queens. Queen Mary was a consort, not a monarch, but she was a queen.
