That is a power car that is owned by NS. It contains a generator for powering passenger cars. TVRM was returning it to NS after we did some repair work on it.
Norfolk Southern is awaiting final approval for the ok to go ahead and repair the bridge before they can let steam trains use the line. I have friends that work on the Chattanooga -summerville line that keep me updated. Norfolk Southern is in no hurry to fix the bridge because they have alternate routes around it, so it's not affecting their operations.
No, the execs blamed the steam trains for holding up their revenue trains. The steam trips were hated by the stockholders as well, because being non-revenue for the railroad, it didn’t look good on their bottom line.
4501’s comfortable top speed is between 55 and 60 mph, though as a freight locomotive, it spent most of its time between 30 and 45 mph. And there is no update on the bridge.
I love how the freight crew just had to stop and admire it.
Love how the other train crew stops to take a picture of 4501!
Excellent Video and Chase.
I loved how the crew member got off #3398 and used his phone to take some photos.
It was a fairly smart move to avoid those pesky rule violations about having your phone turned on while on the locomotive itself.
Awesome
Song right at the Beginning? Some powerful brass!
Not sure of the name. It was a song included with my editing software.
Gotta love 4501's lonesome moan!
Southern Railway 2-8-2 Mikado 4501 was on ferry moves
What's up with the boxcar behind the steam engine excursion

What if 1551 can do a tripleheader with 630 and 4501? I think it'll be awesome to see that happen but it takes time, only time will tell!
nice vid
I always wondered what railroad employees on passing trains thought when they passed a steam locomotive, now I know.
Probably thinking that they wish that dinosaur would get out of their way.
Don't know about that, I think they would be fine with it as long as it's doing the limit.
NS restricted the steam trains to 40 mph, so when you throw one out onto a 50 or 60 mph mainline....
@@TravisDGordon, then they'll blame NS for the restriction probably.

ferry move nice
Is the only option short rides right now on TVRM with the line to Summerville not useable at the moment?
TVRM is currently offering the Missionary Ridge Local (1 hour), the dinner train (2 hours) and Hiwassee Loop (4.5 hours).
Sii😊
How fast is 4501 speed
What is the update for the bridge for trains to go Summerville and chickamauga

Which route was this
Chattanooga to Knoxville
They don't do this anymore right
Correct. The final mainline trips were in 2015
Thanks
Travis Gordon isn't the Summerville special a mainline trip?
*Sigh*
Oh hey it’s you
