You have to wonder sometimes if wind turbine manufacturers actually test their products, you know, like in the wind.

Thank you for the video. The i2000 need to be further from the tower

Wow! I'm definitely happy I chose to make my own blades. Carbon fiber they flex 3 inches at the most. Thanks for sharing that's definitely useful info!

try increasing the angle of attack by putting a few shim washers under the front base mounting bolts... increase the pitch attitude

extend the top pole up 3 or 4 feet to give you more clarence on the blades from the tower.

Aww man that sucks. My wonky banana Tessup black blades, I have managed to successfully heat and straighten, I have actually accidently gone too far so now the blades are a gentle Gull wing curve away from the hub and pole. Could be to my advantage.
I am sure when I was comparing Tessup and IstaBreez I am sure I had seen a quoted maximum pole diameter at the top near the blades of 63mm, might be 73mm and I can't remember if it was Tessup or Ista. Both look frighteningly close.

Could you extend the driveshaft a little bit to increase clearance?

Need a 1/4 thick plate to bolt on out further

Good info! I have a 4m rotor HenryD about to land from china and it's a fixed pitch too. I'm terrified as it howls here constantly. How can they claim these things are engineered for survival in 150 kms/hr winds when we know the blades strike the mast at 100 kms/hr (sorry aboot the metric, I'm Canadian, eh).

I've a Futurenergy 'Airforce1' 48v, 1Kw turbine, and the glass fibre reinforced blades have gone thru 100mph winds without flexing that much. Killed the gennie, but the blades are fine.

My AF1 burned itself out as well, but got repaired under warranty, they put in thermal pads so that should help, and 14 degree pins, but with the pins it makes little power. I really think it needs some sort of feathering, theres a good video on youtube of a small turbine that feathers, its a diy downwind, but it tilts upwards away from the pole, I might modify my one. this design looks like it has allot of promise, less complicated than the SD turbines. ua-cam.com/video/hWRyLk4H8-s/v-deo.html

Can I ask, how loud is the Ista breeze please. Could you do a video?

I feel like it's pretty quiet. My house is a couple hundred feet away and I can't hear it over the wind. Even when I'm under it I can't hardly hear it over the wind.

    Hi,
As you may know i have the IstaBreeze i2000 as well.
One mayor problem for me is the noise it is making. It got a loud whistling noise that can be heard from pretty far away.
Is this something you have come across on any of your IstaBreeze turbines?

There's always going to be some noise, I can hear mine but seldom much over the noise of the wind itself. They don't tend to whistle quite like that. Usually whistling means there's a bit of a disturbance somewhere along the blades' surfaces. So long as the turbine is making decent power I wouldn't bring it down just for the noise, but the next time I came down I would hit the blades with a put of sandpaper and make sure there's no funny casting seams or burrs on it anywhere.
