Nice video (especially for a first). I went through a similar experience in terms of promotion (carrot on a stick) in my first 2 years in corporate. In my case, my manager gave me false expectations twice. After the first false expectation, I grew deeply depressed (this was on top of existing mental health issues) and yet still continued chasing the carrot just to still fail my promotion anyhow many months down the line. I had only realized how bad of a condition I was in when I finally let it all go. Since then, I had decided to take the risk to pursue something I want to in hopes of quitting corporate altogether.

The old adage is so true: "What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger." I think most of us have experienced being laid off at some point in our lives-I know I have. Looking back, I thank God every day for that experience because it set me on the path to starting my own companies. Let me tell you, life becomes so much more fulfilling when you take the leap to do your own thing. Not only can you create something meaningful, but you also have the potential to earn far more if that's your goal. The opportunities are truly limitless. If you work hard, seize the right opportunities, and combine that effort with a little luck and good timing, the rewards can be extraordinary. Trust me, you have the potential to achieve a thousand times more than you might imagine.
I also got laid off too back in September 2021 after 26+ years being there !! I was lucky I got a Severance Package for a little over a year to decide what I wanted to do. It sounds like you are mentally landing on your feet!😊. Now, a detail: a carrot is positive reinforcement if the horse likes carrots. A stick is punishment. The term "negative reinforcement" is not obvious: it means reinforcing (encouraging) behavior by removing something negative. My cheng , Having previously experienced it, I can confidently say that the world is full of opportunities waiting for you to seize. Consider exploring Asia, where there is a plethora of opportunities available for individuals with your level of expertise. As an Asian individual, you may unfortunately be among the first to face redundancy. Getting laid off should make you hungry to challenge yourself from being too comfortable in life. Life is a game, and the goal is to overcome and win. As an older man now, I’ve gone through ups and downs, good times and bad. But I played my cards right and enjoy each minute on this crazy world we live in.
I partially blame our education system for not teaching up the hard truth in life. Life there is not test to prepare or study for and when you get 100 on the test, life throws you more curve balls. The only thing we can rely on is our own self resiliency, that is something I try to learn more about. Our human response is to do something to fix a problem, make bad feeling go away, resolve issues but often the hardest of life doesn't have solution or can't be fixed or maybe you will never find out the answer (why did my gf leave, why did my grandpa get cancer, why did this bad thing happen, why did i make that mistake), and you have to learn to be ok with it and move on.
My manager was the hardest working person I ever knew. He was incredibly smart and got two promotions. Then one day they restructured and security escorted him out of the building. Watch your back when you're working for corps. Have a plan because you never know. Don't ever be loyal to a corp because they're just using you and will throw you away for any reason.
Stastistically , in a corporate job Asians are the first one to get laid off. HR know they don't cause a lot drama. They just signed the paperworks, put the stuff in a box and leave.

I thought corporate would give more job security. Then i did more deep thinking and realized having a entrepreneurship route can also provide getter overall career security.
