Fun Fact: In the second one with the Ed Edd n eddy clip, when it shows the tv guide it says the episode is “Luck be an Ed Tonight/Room With an Ed” both 2 unfinished episodes that never aired! I think it’s a cool Easter egg since it kinda adds to the story with the creepiness
From what I'm told, the black squares showing up on a screen means something was too graphic for viewing. They put the squares in to hide the parts for normal people to view without too much discomfort
11:50 That "static" at the top is something known as the Vertical Blanking Interval. Basically it was a part of old analog television. Even on the old CRTs this would be part of the image, however it wouldn't really be seen under normal circumstances because of overscan. So here's the really cool part. The "static" is actually a data stream. You see, engineers found they could put data into the signal that's hidden in the VBI. The most notable use of this is that this is how closed captioning was implemented. If anyone's interested, there's some fantastic videos about analog television and how it works by Technology Connections, including one diving into closed captions.
What I love about the two videos in The Best is that the first video goes all the way with the concept of being a real hijacking and with malicious intent, trying to make it look realistic as possible while also embracing some modern analog horror elements, while the second video goes all the way with the concept of being an urban legend horror video, it really gave me early 2010s creepypasta vibes that would have spooked me as a kid, and the cheesy aspects only make it more appealing to me.
Personally for me i feel like remake #11 should've been in the best. I think it's a bit unfair to put in amazing just cause it's not like the first best remake on the list. I mean sure the kid's acting does seem like he's trying too hard to appeal but it's a little kid doing the acting you can't be too hard on the kid for that. But that's just me.
@@brandondickie3456 I mean I personally liked the blood part, it really caught me off guard, I was thinking it was actually gonna be a silly ass rendition of it. But I definitely get why you wouldn’t like it, it could be seen as cheezy and begging for a reaction.
Remake 6 actually does something that makes a little more sense than the other ones. The episode that plays when the technical difficulties screen goes away is Squid's Day Off which is actually the real sister episode to Your Shoe's Untied and makes total sense why it would play afterwards. Gary Takes a Bath doesnt make a whole lot of sense since it's actually a shorter episode than usual because it was meant to be paired with the extended episode Shanghaied instead. I feel like the story would have been way better if it didn't include Gary Takes a Bath cause that just doesnt make any sense to a hyperfixated Spongebob nerd like me
0:21 Happy birthday raging! You're profile is really cute! My sister's birthday is on the exact same day as yours! (And yes I know this comment is really late or really early lol)
Explanation about the random lines at the top of the screen: for older analog TV, vhs and DVD they had to encode the closed caption into the actual video feed so they used a technique called "overscan" which placed said "code" at the top part of the picture which the tv would receive but wouldn't display (under normal circumstances)

I will say that as someone who was born in 2002 that it wasn't _that_ unusual for someone to still be recording on VHS in 2005. My grandma would record me VHS tapes of Playhouse Disney as a little kid around 2005, and I don't think my family upgraded from cable to a tv provider that let you record directly to the little box thing until like, 2010 at the earliest, and we were still using at least one CRT tv until around the same time. I don't know if my family was unusual in that regard, but I can't imagine there weren't more families with a similar "if it ain't broke don't fix it" mentality about VHS and cable, until built-in recording capability and streaming services became more standardized and worth the expense.
My parents and I recorded with VHS up until 2009, a bit after that too. I knew a lot of people who still used VHS, because DVD and Blu-ray were still pretty expensive.
I have VHS recordings as recent as 2008 or 2009. I agree, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I stopped after my family got DirecTV. It felt like such a game changer, I left VHS in the dust, lol.
never recorded anything, but my parents had a VHS player up until Blu-Ray started to be a thing, and my paternal grandparents had a TV with a built-in VCR until a year before they moved (i even tried recording an episode of Adventure Time once).
Oh yeah for sure, my family primarily used VHS up until around '05, and even after we mostly replaced it with DVD, VHS was still used some for quite some time(Like watching VHS tapes we already owned, buying VHS releases because they'd start getting cheaper than buying a DVD, or also recording shows onto blank tapes before we had upgraded to the local cable company's digital cable service, where the set top box the company would give us included a DVR)
The little glitch at the top of a lot of old recordings actually does have a purpose, its the caption detection for old VCRs. When these were displayed in 4:3 Standard format on CRT televisions and such, the top bar wouldn't show but up behind the last line of the CRT was that glitchy line that the VCR playing the tape could read and display captions based off the sequence of lines shown inside the bar. A lot of networks never cut those caption lines out of old recordings when they switched to the 16:9 HD format so they're just there most of the time. Just a little tidbit I knew cuz I collect VHS's and such :)

what's even more funny is that this is just meant for an ARG, and not a creepy/trollpasta entry, although it is funny that it did end up as a Trollpasta first
You should totally do a “Lies” ranking video! I love your videos and how they keep the creepy pastas alive. You are the reason I started watching creepy pastas and liking them. Thanks :)
Adult Swim has a bumper called "The Dawn Is Your Enemy" that was meant to scare away kids who stayed up late or woke up way too early, but it was so good at spooking people that someone wrote a Creepypasta about the version used from 2005 to 2010 being an abridged version, with the full version playing on the last day it aired pre-2020. Would you rank every remake of the alleged full version of this bumper?
I like this creepypasta for one simple reason, it isnt filled with creepypasta cliche’s and it uses eerie and still imagery instead of getting all up into your face with either sounds or visual effects. It just… rests, you know?
This is why I really dislike the first one. It started off so strong with the visuals but took a total nosedive and turned a pretty novel and unique concept for a creepy pasta into generic analogue horror schlock.
you have no idea how much i love these videos, dude. they're the perfect background noise, like im hanging out with some friends and watching some creepy vids together. and they're so high quality for being so underrated?? keep up the good work 👍
Hot take: Most don’t include “Gary Takes a Bath” because, despite what the creepypasta says, that isn’t what actually follows “Your Shoe’s Untied”, and the author legitimately made a mistake.
1:40:50 what i like about this remake it's how it's meant for you to see the thumbnail and you say wow this is going to be bad, to immediately put on something that can really make you uncomfortable.
So, as a kid who grew up on the low end of middle class in the early 2000's, I can confirm VHS tape recordings were how I used to watch a lot of programs, especially if they were on late at night after I went to bed. I think we only stopped using VHS recordings when we got our first widescreen TV.
Happy birthday raging :D you literally just told everyone in the beginning to wish you a happy birthday but they dont care and they just care about their own birthday and they just want people to wish them a happy birthday but they dont care about others. but i love everyone and im not judging. happy birthday rage ;)
Great job with this one! I gotta say, the banter you and Raging had in this video was really good, you two work pretty well together, really made me appreciate your chemistry a lot more. I had a thought about Remake #8 as I was watching you react to it... There are a lot of elements in it that remind me of analog horror, but they weren't used very effectively in my opinion. The constant use of that black censor square almost felt like a parody but other things felt serious so... I feel like maybe it was made by someone who'd seen some of the tropes of analog horror, but didn't really understand WHY they were used, or what made them "scary", but wanted to use them anyways. In Mandela Catalogue for example; A black square itself isn't scary, but in the contexts that it's used in during the series, it implies that it's censoring something too horrifying for anybody to handle, and of course the distorted nature of the video helped, and as a result, it played with the fear of the unknown. There was subtlety to its usage. In remake #8 though... Unfortunately, not. It's just copy pasted in there all over the place, and has no subtlety. Just a thought I wanted to throw out there. Looking forward to the next ranking video!
1:37:57 this got me so much it’s still unnerving after knowing it’s gonna happen and the fact that this could be an actual frame from the show makes it’s more creepy.
Happy Birthday Raging! Regarding TapeWorm's video; the context to why the person is recording is provided through the rest of the channels uploads as this is actually part of their ARG! The ARG revolves around a television cable company with a rather...interesting box that isn't exactly typical of cable boxes.
I’m not kidding when I say this, one time my brother was watching SpongeBob and the tv glitched and made everyone in the show’s voices super low pitched. I AM NOT JOKING
I absolutely love basically everything to do with the 2000s (especially when it comes to older UA-cam videos), so I instantly fell in love with the second remake. I could say the same for other remakes that use content from that time, but the second one is arguably my favorite out of all of them, simply because of how much nostalgia I get every time I think about it. Also, happy very belated birthday to Raging! 🥳
I'm glad you're making one of these videos for 7/25/2005, I've always been a fan of weird lost media and other broadcasting-related stuff the early 2000s, so this creepypasta and its main idea kind of drew me in Also, happy birthday Raging! Best wishes 🎉

Actually had a show glitch out on Air before. I was just watching Disney XD and finished up a gravity falls episode. When the next show came on, the screen was stuck on an black background with the bill cypher image from the intro of gravity falls on it. The audio for the show still played. Lasted the entire episode.
I remember watching one of those dvds, probably pirated, that played children's music that seemed to be made by just a group of teachers. From what I remember, it was simply psychedelic what was going on and it was difficult to describe what I saw but it was some images of chickens (the thing I remember the most was an orange one), cows, flowers, children and other things drawn similar to a kitchen tablecloth, something very simple, the strangest thing was that the screen distorted every second of what was going on, in a way that barely mattered what resisted I had seen it in my parents' car and now I lost hope of finding it because the dvd that could have had it was thrown away and as that was extremely obscure I don't expect anyone to remember this media This message was written to be that something at least remembered this thing. I hope you answer me clearly
I think the pasta did meant the episode skipped parts because the "I'm ready!" Part is from the first half of the episode but spongebob and the shoe is from the end of it
I never expected it to make it on this channel twice but I am sooooo happy for it Wonderful feedback and thanks a lot again for it and I'll keep the criticisms in mind. And compared to the Max and Ruby 0004 video I made (which I'm still grateful for the feedback you provided on that video but I think is a little outdated for me editing wise), I think it goes to show how much I greatly improved on my videos in terms of editing from my earlier works. Your content itself is S tier and you earn all the respect from me, and everyone else here. Also, sry if that was your house lol, I actually just looked for a random house off the web.
Side note: I used the name Brian in the first Movie Maker interval as a sort of nod to a Max and Ruby 0004 remake by someone called Diamond World, he's an analog horror creator that has a series called "The Nick DVD", It might not be among the best analog horror series I've seen but it's a decent watch and actually was a huge inspiration for me when making the Max and Ruby video
i'm surprised there's SO many remakes of 7/25/2005 because it's so short and so simple like i would expect a 2h video on stuff like squidward suicide or suicide mouse.avi, but damn
@@twindrill2852 not wrong, i was just thinking since it's so short and basic to be kinda "forgotten" and unnoticed. but i guess people really love this one
Wow it feels like only 2 hours has passed, between the previous one And this one, its insane and im very happy for another episode in this series Also please do plankton got served next, its a bit underrated imo
those little white dots at the top of one of them are actually a part of the vertical blanking interval, and those white dots store caption data. a CRT would hide them since it was outside of its scan region, but digital recordings would show them.
Love this video dude, I'll definitely be coming back to watch this a LOT because your videos have a lot of rewatch value, and in my opinion have one of the highest rewatch value out of any channel I've ever came across on UA-cam so far lol. I absolutely love how some of the remakes for this creepypasta incorporate the culture of the old internet as well. I grew up on the internet during the 2000s, so seeing these remakes use old internet aesthetics make me all giddy on the inside, and not to mention make them feel more realistic too. Also, happy extremely belated birthday to Raging!
When you said "why are they recording a random episode of SpongeBob" it reminded me of this distant memory where I recorded an entire episode of family guy on my Sony Ericsson phone from like halfway across the room so I could watch it later (I was about 9?) Then a few days later it said I wasn't allowed to watch it due to it being copyrighted material even though it was only saved on my camera roll? It scared me a lot as a kid and I've never been able to make sense of how that would work considering I don't remember uploading that video anywhere. Banger video by the way and the second one is literally unmatchable imo ❤
It's weird how when they recorded that video, the Spongebob Bootleg Ranked video didn't scrape 100K views. However, only an hour after the full video is live, it's over 200K now.
Hello, SoraThePanFloof from Remake 9! I like that you included my video in the tier list and it makes me happy to see that video here. I apologize about the jumpscare being too loud, I initially thought it would add into the creepy factor but I don't think it did... I am planning on saving Gary takes a bath in a later video since the original video had a different nickelodeon watermark so, who knows how big that's gonna be. Thank you so much!!!
I just kinda wanna know if you can confirm what's going on with Spongebob. Is he going through a huge stress disorder or suffering from PTSD when he asked himself "What's wrong with me?" Does it has relation to any other SB Creepypastas like Red Mist and Spongebob Bootleg. I'm just curious
@@bethanythemulti-fandommodd1218 It doesn't have any relation to those creepypastas. It's more of "spongebob realizing that the world he's in right now isn't normal and he wants out of it."
I think the main issue with the decent list is that while i technically think some of them are low good tier i feel like they tried to stay as realistic to the story as possible. It's hard to find that balance between staying faithful to the story but trying to the push the boundaries of the story and not make it seem like another cliched lost episode creepypasta. I can't really fault the creators of those videos for not doing enough.
I think there is a mistake that the editers of SpongeBob for the of SpongeBob episode your shoes are untied Patrick's house is supposed to be next to Squidward's house if you look closely they forgot to add Patrick's house

"pre-2020"
Do you mean 2019??
@@Franuccino No, the last time the first version aired was in 2010.

I like this creepypasta for one simple reason, it isnt filled with creepypasta cliche’s and it uses eerie and still imagery instead of getting all up into your face with either sounds or visual effects. It just… rests, you know?
This is why I really dislike the first one. It started off so strong with the visuals but took a total nosedive and turned a pretty novel and unique concept for a creepy pasta into generic analogue horror schlock.
honestly this might be a hot take but I really don't find this creepy.. hell I found the technical difficulties screen more unsettling lol
i see whatcha mean
1:26:25 Maybe this tape was a little bit damaged for entertaiment to add a climate to a 7/25/2005 VHS version remake.
you have no idea how much i love these videos, dude. they're the perfect background noise, like im hanging out with some friends and watching some creepy vids together. and they're so high quality for being so underrated?? keep up the good work 👍
Hot take: Most don’t include “Gary Takes a Bath” because, despite what the creepypasta says, that isn’t what actually follows “Your Shoe’s Untied”, and the author legitimately made a mistake.
Doesn't the author say they switch channels from nickelodeon to nicktoons tho?
The shoe part is the scariest to me
I’m always thinking this is adorable ❤❤❤❤
17:37
(But his laugh tho I like it how SpongeBob and Gary are in the shoe it’s cute)
*27:52** For some context, the sound clip of SpongeBob saying “I’m SpongeBob!” from Flats The Flounder has became A meme lately.*
It’s such a great moment
1:40:50 what i like about this remake it's how it's meant for you to see the thumbnail and you say wow this is going to be bad, to immediately put on something that can really make you uncomfortable.
I honestly didn’t expect 1:35:44 or 1:37:56 at all. That was scary.
1:37:56 HIS PUPILS ARE DILATED😨
The thumbnail and description are probably meant to lower your guard

So, as a kid who grew up on the low end of middle class in the early 2000's, I can confirm VHS tape recordings were how I used to watch a lot of programs, especially if they were on late at night after I went to bed. I think we only stopped using VHS recordings when we got our first widescreen TV.
If Spongebob didn't forget how to tie his shoes this wouldn't have happened
Yea

7.25.2005 is so fascinating to me. They are so well made yet unsettling. (PS. Happy birthday Raging)
1:37:57 this got me so much it’s still unnerving after knowing it’s gonna happen and the fact that this could be an actual frame from the show makes it’s more creepy.
You should make a tier list of the resignation tapes, there's some really good recreations out there that needs to be noticed!

Recently just found this channel and I am glad I did. Thanks to you I found creepypastas and things I never knew existed which is pretty epic

Actually had a show glitch out on Air before. I was just watching Disney XD and finished up a gravity falls episode. When the next show came on, the screen was stuck on an black background with the bill cypher image from the intro of gravity falls on it. The audio for the show still played. Lasted the entire episode.
idk why but that sounds kind of creepy 💀

happy very late birthday dudeee, I hope you have a great day to raging, and to everyone else.
That sounds weird if you find it upload it.
that is the problem. I lost my old cds because of moving house. The only option I have is to look for my cousin's dvds
30:42 yo thanks for the shout out 😅
I think the pasta did meant the episode skipped parts because the "I'm ready!" Part is from the first half of the episode but spongebob and the shoe is from the end of it
I never expected it to make it on this channel twice but I am sooooo happy for it
Wonderful feedback and thanks a lot again for it and I'll keep the criticisms in mind.
Also, sry if that was your house lol, I actually just looked for a random house off the web.
nah we were kidding LOL that aint even close to my house. also thanks!! keep up the great work
@PigPigGamer oh okie then lol.
And you got the best in both videos :D
Congratulations on getting "the best"
I can tell how much work you put into this ranking video😆

To be fair, I remember VHS’s still being used EXTENSIVELY in the mid-late 2000’s.
The "I'm spongebob" one has got to be one of the most scary creepypasta's I've seen
1:03:45 another innacuracy nobody noticed is that neither that bumper nor that nick logo were even made until 06/07.
i'm surprised there's SO many remakes of 7/25/2005 because it's so short and so simple
like i would expect a 2h video on stuff like squidward suicide or suicide mouse.avi, but damn
That makes sense actually. Since it’s shorter, it means less effort to remake (or retool)
@@twindrill2852 not wrong, i was just thinking since it's so short and basic to be kinda "forgotten" and unnoticed. but i guess people really love this one

Also please do plankton got served next, its a bit underrated imo
Oh and of course, happy birthday my guy!
I think he should do dead Bart extract explained 2 hours
It would be so funny if one of these remakes or retakes did the shoe scene but then it randomly went “IVE GOT A FEELING”
those little white dots at the top of one of them are actually a part of the vertical blanking interval, and those white dots store caption data. a CRT would hide them since it was outside of its scan region, but digital recordings would show them.
Banger video by the way and the second one is literally unmatchable imo ❤
this video officially turns a year old
It's weird how when they recorded that video, the Spongebob Bootleg Ranked video didn't scrape 100K views.

The creepy pasta isn't a "cliched lost episode" that's why everyone enjoys it, because of how different it is
