    I'm a Marine Corps vet and honestly, I love the genuine MREs. It's all dehydrated though so we added water and used the chemical heater to eat them when we had enough time to do so. I preferred the turkey breast MRE.

      Unless you were eating RCWs or LRPs almost no MRE components require water for preparation. The only components that require them are drink mixes.

      @@BWIENS789 You may be too young but the original MREs had dehydrated pork patties and mixed fruit. We used to just eat them dry since re-hydrating them didn't really make them any better. Those didn't have the heaters and we used heat tabs under a canteen cup.

      Navy here, since when did MRE's have skittles??? I know if I had to take an MRE out and I found some skittles in there, part of my humanity would be restored. The best thing I remember in an MRE was the blackberry cobbler-- and even then the breading tasted kinda like it was in a can and full of preservatives... not the greatest but hey, it still went down better than some of the other stuff.

    So funny watching civilians figure these out. You get the hang of it though. This is how I always did it in Iraq. I ate these for 15 months straight (perk of being infantry lol). You open it and drop the two food pouches inside the heater bag (it's a tight fit), fill till the water line is twice the height of line marked on bag. It's the same amount, but since both food pouches are in it, they displace water, and raise the water line. Fold the top of bag closed and shove all of that in the cardboard box that the one of the food pouches came in, lean on "rock or something" to heat. While that's cooking, eat all the other shit. By the time you finish with that stuff, the main meal is cooked. Then eat that. Simple. After you do it a few times it's as simple, easy, and fast, as opening the fridge and throwing a ham sandwich together.

    TFF is trans-fat free, the mints are latitudes that are meant to counter the primitive butter, which makes it so you can’t poop. The stuff in the bag is the dessert, which is likely a cobbler of sorts and they don’t feed the soldiers like hogs, they are mostly balanced meals and aside from a few bad apples, mre’s are not that bad, at least from my experience Edit: if you want me to explain more, give me a sign of some sort

    I’m in the military and I’ve eaten my fair share of these.
    MREs aren’t horrible, but when you’re in the field and have to eat them every day, they get old after a while.

      Your entree go down into the bag. Then pour water in the bag to the line. Fold over the top of the bag and place them into the small box and roll the box edge over to seal it. Place them at a 45 degree angle and wait about 10 min or so.

    I'm surprised you can get the real military ones on Amazon. I've been eating these things for years and the real military ones are the only ones I buy. My grandpa introduced me to them as a kid, he was a veteran and liked to collect military surplus stuff and he would often eat an MRE for lunch. My dad told me that he used to eat C and K rations for lunch before they got replaced by MRE's but that was before my time.

    • @garethbaus5471
      @garethbaus5471 4 роки тому +1

      They are engineered to keep you alive and functioning, although the k rations actually weren't really very successful at this.

      @Impactjunky 3 роки тому

      @@jackfruit420 These are the real deal, the civilian ones are usually in clear plastic. At 0:11 he holds the bag up to the camera and in addition to the Department of Defense logo/seal at the top it says "Government Property, Commercial Resale Is Unlawful" near the bottom. You can also do a quick image search for "soldier eating MRE" and you will see a bunch of real soldiers with bags just like this.

    Just to let you know (as I learned post-Katrina) that “napkin” you unwrapped in the brown wrapper, can also be emergency toilet tissue! Lol Nice video. I was pregnant post-Katrina so I used to guilt trip my friends into giving me/the baby the very rare packs of Skittles/M&M’s we’d get. Seriously, only 1 out of every dozen MRE’s actually had name brand candy. 👍 🍬

    Pour the heater powder into a plastic bottle mix with Tabasco sauce which used to be included in the MRE and a pinch of water and place cap on shake and set on ground and run this will make an MRE pepper bomb we used to make these in the Army all the time lol.

    The cocoa beverage drinks are the best when you get coffee in your MRE. Just make the coffee, add the creamer, then pour in some of the cocoa drink, mix and enjoy you a nice mocha-ccino. Even good when it’s cold👍🏻👍🏻

    Back in 2004 i was deployed overseas for Operation Iraqi Freedom, we got served MRE's a couple of days in my division because we were not able to leave our command center during heavy operations (Air Traffic Control) for lunch. I can assure you, as I was blessed by the MRE/RNG gods and received a pack of M&M candies in my MRE and was indeed "The Man". Traded those bad boys for a wheat snack bread and half a can of wintergreen dip.... I prefer the snack bread anyway, something so satisfying about the way it chews and it stores well in the pocket for a snack later.

      They let off Hydrogen. It’s not toxic and it says on the heater how many you can use inside at once. This is so you don’t blow up if there’s too much hydrogen built up in the room.

    If you read in the instructions, which you clearly haven't. It states to keep the heater and meal pouch out of the water till you have the correct amount of water. MRE goes in the pouch.

    Could it have been like a water chestnut (referring to the crunchy thing in the beef strip one)? Also should you see this you should try a MRE with a "Beef snack strip" basically tastes like a dog treat its in a southwest beef and black bean MRE #24 I believe and it comes with a mocha that tastes amazing based on my experience
