The Flex Seal one bucket was better lined up than the Rubber Flex bucket was. But it did bother me that the Rubber Flex bukcet wasn't lined up better, which could have caused problems with the strength test.

You added water weight to the rubber flex over and over trying to get the scale to work... that gave it a disadvantage over the Flex ...I think you should redo.

there were 2 problems with the test, 1 the misalignment of the bucket when putting it together, if he had properly realigned it, it would improve the chances of both products working, the second problem is that the knockoff brand had to deal with seperate refills which the flex seal didn't. ultimately the experiment isn't very good at telling the strength of the 2 products.

I think you need a scale that doesn't zero itself automatically. Maybe that's why, as you've said, the weight wasn't being scaled when you were gradually adding water. 🤔
On the second test the rubber flex stuff was at a MAJOR disadvantage you put water in the rubber flex bucket multiple times and stopped multiple times giving it time to slowly stretch more than the flex seal was able to.

I've noticed that if you heat it up with a torch while it's applied fresh, it'll sink into all the smaller areas sealing it better, and it cured it once it's cooled down.
The strength test needs to be redone because the rubber flex you filled the bucket multiple times before the final test which could have weakened it before the final test was done. Not that I care I dont use either product but in all fairness the rubber flex was put to a disadvantage with the multiple fills.

The reasom the first test failed on flex seal is because the flex seal doesn't stick to the bucket sticker. The rubber flex had more raw bucket exposed so it was able to hold on better. The surface was not properly prepared for the test.

But.....clearly the branded flex seal can hold stuff together where weight is involved after numerous coats and several days of drying. however, isn’t the purpose of the product to quickly seal something that is leaking and fill in the holes and cracks for a practical and immediate fix? The generic brand seems to have done a better job at temporarily stopping or slowing leaks in a pinch than the brand name did. So, I guess my question is, why are you using this product? I’m betting that 90% of folks are trying to quickly stop a leak or drip and not looking to spray something down and wait several days to see how flooded their boat can get before it falls apart. I have used the Rubber Flex on battery boxes after I ground the corrosion away. It worked great. Tonight as I am listening to this video I am Rubber Flexing my snowmobile windshield. I repaired the cracks with auto Goop and now will cover it in Flex Rubber. I ride thru a lot of brush here in AK. And break a lot of windshields on my widetracks. They are $200 a pop to replace. The Auto or Plumbing Goop works great after stop drilling a crack.
Your methods would yield inconsistent results due to the lack of control. The holes in the bucket didn't seem to be uniform. If the holes aren't the same, products wouldn't be exposed to the same pressures, which would skew results. It would be best to drill the holes in a line going up the bucket in exact intervals, or just drill one hole. Also, as some of the other commenters said, you filled the first bucket three times, then the flex seal bucket once... That would also skew results as well.
I dont mean to hate but there is a chance that you couldnt do the Flex Seal right on the first test because i watched CrazyRussianHacker’s video about Flex Seal and it works fine
The sealants should be put on the inside of the buckets because the water is trying to push out the holes. On the inside the sealants are not being separated from the bucket due to outwards pressure and thus it would provide a better result. Also, the half bucket competition should be redone due to the flexing caused by filling and emptying the bucket on the rubber seal most likely caused the bucket to fail. In addition to that, also make sure tat the buckets are lined up so that the gaps in the seam are little to none or else the test results may be skewed.

i use this dollar store brand rubberized spray to seal up my o2 sensors because when it rains, my car sputters & every few months-6 months, I have to repeat the whole process! Glad to see your test, I have often wondered which brand works better?
How long does it last and how frequent do you have to re-coat? One bucket lined up better than the other when cutting in half and spraying together. Depending also on the duct tape inside and where each was placed equally or unequally distanced might have caused more separation pressure in one bucket than the other support/unsupported areas. You didn't show the inside of the buckets after drying seven days? A manual scale would work better vs. digital. Hopefully you put a kiddie pool underneath the leaky buckets?

Depending also on the duct tape inside and where each was placed equally or unequally distanced might have caused more separation pressure in one bucket than the other support/unsupported areas. You didn't show the inside of the buckets after drying seven days? A manual scale would work better vs. digital. Hopefully you put a kiddie pool underneath the leaky buckets?
