I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.
A good and fair reveiw. I have it for 2 years now. One reason I've choosen the brand is the 12v charger (optionnal) that allow me to recharge easily with a 100w flexible solar pannel when I'm off grid (the panel is glued on top of the car)
I’ve had the 18v whipper snipper for over 3 years now and been pretty impressed by it. Now looking at collecting more Ryobi tools. Honestly didn’t expect it to last this long, impressive battery life too.
I’ve had my 18v Ryobi whipper snipper for about 12 years now and still going strong. The 4amp battery it came with is still good also. I even run the 2mm line instead of the recommended 1.5mm 😆 no issues.
I recently bought the 10V saw, I love it. 2 big tree limbs came down in our yard, and I was able to remove them quick and easy. The battery sucks, but the tool works great!👏😁
They do make plenty of chainsaws that are comparable to small gas saws including some of the Ryobi 40V saws. I've had the one in your video for over three years now and I use it at least a few times a year for storm cleanup. The 9Ah battery would be a nice addition, and you definitely need to sharpen your chain plus maybe file the rakers (depth gauges), or just replace the chain altogether.
Great review of the chainsaw. I’ve had one of these four the past 3-4 years, its never mist a beat. I’ve other Ryobi tools and have 3 4 amp hour batteries, usually use 2 of them to cut enough firewood for a few days, agree you need to have a sharp chain reduce the power draw the batteries.
I was able to take advantage of a Bunnings deal about 18 months ago: four 4Ah batteries for the price of two. Another consideration for away-from-home use is that you can but a 12 volt fast charger for the One+ batteries.
Good review. I just bought one and im very happy with it! Uses it to clean up fallen trees over trails in the woods and it does the job. Ofc its not as good as a fuel one but this is much easier to carry and starts directly and no need to mess around with gasoline etc :)
Looked like the chain was a bit dull, didnt seem to lack power. I just got a bargain on two gas powered husqvarna and they run great but I had forgotten how horrobly loud they are. Looking to get a ryobi since I already got a few other ryobi tools
Interesting technique used, given you said that people run towards rather than away because it not so noisy! You need to treat a battery saw in exactly the same way as gas powered one.
Great to see this video. Just bought one to take down branches and smaller trees around the backyard particularly palm trees. Have you got any videos comparing it with the 36V one or the 2300w AC powered ones?
I have a number of Ryobi tools. Over time i found aftermarket batteries and chargers to be much more reliable and cheaper than the genuine Ryobi brand. But the tools are great 👍🏻
Does the bar oil leak? Do you need to empty the oil when storing and not in use? I take it you don't need to pump the oil the way you do with the brushed 10" version? thx
I got one from Bunnings last week and used it for the first time over the weekend.....and the chain slack tension is fully wound out already - the chain "stretched" to max in just under 1 hour. Is this normal or is it just a cheap chain bundled with the chainsaw?
If you're like me where most of your other bits are Milwaukee, you can buy an adapter to go from Ryobi to Milwaukee for about £20, can use the big boy 12ah battery's then
Haha yeh for what it is it does a great job. To be honest that log was too big for it really. It’s only really designed for smaller stuff. Sharp chain is a must
Good review and I'm going to buy one. Do you drain the oil when you're not using it, because I've never seen a chainsaw that doesn't leak oil. I have a Stihl petrol chainsaw that leaks oil and it's annoying. Thank you.
Hi Derek, yes best to drain the oil when your not using it. Like most chain saws it will slowly drip if left for more than a few days of not using. Cheers
Hey mate, Is this the HP brushless version or the non HP model? And is the 5ah battery you are using just a standard battery or an HP? From what I could tell, neither were HP? Cheers
great video mate, Im going out to Bunnings tomorrow to get one and will now have to swap over my other tools top Ryobi from Ozito but worth it I guess.
Only problem I've found is that the chain has loosened after a couple of months and can't be completely tightened any more. I've had it sharpened once only. It seems that there's not enough range in the tightening mechanism after the chain stretches. It's still usable but not as tight as it should be unless I replace the chain. Only downside I've found, really. The tightening mechanism is a bit plasticky but it was not too expensive. Remains to be seen if replacement parts are available if those parts crack.
Thanks for the comment. There is two points for adjust. One is the slide on the bar - this is the main nut/tension that keeps the bar in place. The other is a screw that allows for finer adjustments. If you back the nut off you should be able to adjust the bar accordingly. Hope that helps 👍🏻
To bad they discontinued this saw. I love mine so much that after a few years I upgraded to a 14 " bar and chain. It has enough power. My only concern is that it puts out too much oil and looks like it is leaking but it's only dripping excess. I found out that if you let it sit for awhile before putting it away it will stop.
@@mrspin3315 here is where I bought mine from www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-one-18v-hp-12-30cm-brushless-cordless-chainsaw-ocs1830bl-tool-only_p0152682?region_id=118182&gbraid=0AAAAADtbEB_5LJW7MtNE2zqm0d9Wi2FSy&gbraid=0AAAAADtbEB_5LJW7MtNE2zqm0d9Wi2FSy&gclid=Cj0KCQjw2v-gBhC1ARIsAOQdKY3yxnUjxM6nVew_bVrUwojP9VG6qSFx-lj3fSWCtFkr3VNJ05jdN3UaAqeGEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
I have this chainsaw and have used it a lot for cutting wood for the woodburner. I bought some third party batteries that work excellently with the saw and the ryobi charger - I bought 2 Vanon 5.5AH batteries for a third of the price of 1 ryobi equivalent ie the ryobi batteries are about 6X over priced.
How many years have you had the aftermarket batteries? I have had the original batteries for about 10 years now. One of those just now stopped charging.
The larger log you cut is more than recommended and it did it fine even though your chain needed a touch up so that says to me it does well. Fasted thing I have ever heard in a youtube video "I start my chainsaw and the kids come running" lmfao you may want to educate your children about what chainsaws do to flesh. Sit them down and watch Texas chainsaw massacre that outa do it lol. Thanks for sharing mate.
Haha thanks mate. It doesn’t help that they have a toy chainsaw and pretend to cut everything up🤣. They are educated now. Sure is a great saw and you can’t go wrong. Thanks for watching! 👍🏻
My P5452 (motor with brushes) quit 6" cutting madrone.. Bought from Amazon 1 year ago, "3 year warranty" only good if bought from Home Depot. I'm out of luck there. Found that a motor brush broke.. Motor no longer available from Ryobi... Now a throw-away. Brushless better, I hope.
Not much faster/or maybe slower.... than a quality hand saw from Silky😃 was looking at buying one since I have 5 other 18V tools from Ryobi but maybe the 36V saw is the one to go for🤔
I think it has a place in the market for those that don’t need a 18” cut. It’s perfect for the home owner that pulls this out a few times a year to trim trees. I personally have bought another saw with a 16” cut that I will be doing a review on soon. Thanks for watching
Power Tools are the Adult Pokémon cards. You many not necessarily know how to use them… but, you must collect them all! Great review.
Haha great analogy!!
Good point about being complacent because it doesn't sound dangerous.
Yeh exactly right

Need a replacement bar any ideas ?!

That's the only thing wrong with my saw, it Poor's out fast. I got a can of chain saver and spray the chain every so often and have not had a problem.
Good morning what oil do u recommend for this chain saw
Any chain and bar oil will do.
As already advised. Any chain and bar oil
I chose this one for all the same reasons. I also live in a suburban apartment and go adventuring.
Nice! Great little saw
Wrap some foam pipe insulation around it and hang it with soft rubber bands at an incline
Thanks for the tips! I’ll give it a try!
Hey mate,
Is this the HP brushless version or the non HP model? And is the 5ah battery you are using just a standard battery or an HP? From what I could tell, neither were HP? Cheers
Hey Ethan, it’s the non HP version saw and battery. I think the HP version would be better again. Cheers Adam
Brilliant review... wasn't sure until I watched this and went and got one!
Awesome thank you 🙏
great video mate, Im going out to Bunnings tomorrow to get one and will now have to swap over my other tools top Ryobi from Ozito but worth it I guess.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed.
Love your pros and cons mate
Thanks for watching
My chainsaw will not start up again after putting in baar and chain oil.. how to remedy?
Not sure sorry. Maybe contact Ryobi.
My Ryobi chainsaw is 14” blade and cuts way faster than yours, then again a sharp blade makes the difference. I love me some Ryobi tools…😎😁💯🇺🇸
Wow! That’s great. Chain could have been a little sharper but still impressed for those smaller jobs. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Привіт.

Ryobi 18v or Greenworks 24v chainsaw?
I haven’t used Greenworks so I can’t comment

Is that the standard battery or the one that’s 30% more powerful?
Just the standard battery. Not the HP
@@GetCampingOz oh cool I have both
Might buy this chain saw now then
Did you end up getting the 9ah? If so, what are you're thoughts on it?
I bought this chainsaw and 9Ah battery. Works great, highly recommended.
Nah I havent yet! Its definitely on the list of things to buy!
I have a silky saw that would cut small stuff about that fast. A touch slower maybe? Cost about the same as the battery though.
Its not bad and does a decent job. Definitely better out there

I don’t know about it being discontinued here in Oz. My local Bunnings still has them for sale. Where abouts do you live as they may not be available

You mentioned there is a brake, does it work like a chain brake like on a traditional chain saw if you do manage to get kickback?
Yeh its exactly the same as a normal chainsaw. Cheers
Nice presentation gonna check out the other videos you have
Thanks for the comments! Hope you enjoy 👍🏻
Nice review. Nice fridge in the back of your car too.
Thanks!
Great review thanks man
Thanks mate 👍🏻

How many years have you had the aftermarket batteries? I have had the original batteries for about 10 years now. One of those just now stopped charging.
@@mrspin3315 about 5 years now. Still going well. Actually just ordered some new ones as I have more tools now

That’s no good to hear. Yeh the brushless is amazing.
Hi how do I sharpen the chain
You’ll need a chainsaw sharpener or a file.
Not much faster/or maybe slower.... than a quality hand saw from Silky😃 was looking at buying one since I have 5 other 18V tools from Ryobi but maybe the 36V saw is the one to go for🤔
It holds its own. I’d still rather use this than a hand saw 🪚. If you can go higher voltage then you’ll get more power
Pop one of those 9.0 ah batteries in that puppy!
I think you have sold me on this chainsaw
They are a great chainsaw! Glad i could help
Can it cut through oak wood
Not sure on oak wood as we don’t have it here in Australia but it cuts through red gum which is extremely hard.
It's too small. They should've made an 18 incher using 2 of the 18v batteries.
I think it has a place in the market for those that don’t need a 18” cut. It’s perfect for the home owner that pulls this out a few times a year to trim trees. I personally have bought another saw with a 16” cut that I will be doing a review on soon. Thanks for watching
Sharpen chain next time before doing video I could saw quicker with a handsaw

If you smell fuel… you’ve got the wrong cans
That’s right!
18V Battery pack from their Weed Trimmers DO NOT FIT...
Oh bugger. Is it one +?
battery back pack :) I got 100's of cells, ryobi battery suck and the price is ridiculous for the quality crappy cells they provide.
Yeh the batteries 🔋 are expensive
I have had my batteries for about 10 years and they are not crappy!
