I was so touched by this video and the movie made of him, that I am driving down to Pall Mall TN in April 2019 from my hometown of Washington DC to visit his grave, and his home area. . A true great American hero!
Thank you neighbour, just dowloaded the Seargent York movie again from youtube, but he was a great memory from past old movies. Family was the enemy at that time... but that is what is truly the dilemma for most folks.... thanks for teaching me more......
Sadly the " thou shall not kill" commandment is so misunderstood, it's more accurately translated from the Hebrew as " you shall not needlessly murder" Sargent York and Audie Murphy are just 2 of our greatest heroes.
York was a hero to me, just as my Grampa was to me. He was red cross, on the enemy side, and when he tried to save all those still alive, from both sides, something just told him, get the heck out there, and grab em all.... save them, he was conscripted.... and never volunteered, even when others around were for honor and shame.... he fought against that, all the same. When he got back to the trench... all were dead from gas. He never went to church, after that. He knew, that god was there, for all of us..... and for all that fell. Even today, I get a bit sick, everytime rememberance day comes... 'cause most folks don't want that at all, governments do.....
He was AWARDED the Congressional Medal Of Honor. You don't win it.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
I love my great state of Tennessee and it's amazing history..............
