I'm glad to see Nuno getting some recognition lately! Those of us back in the day knew that Nuno was our next guitar hero but I think grunge happened around the same time and the whole industry changed. Glad to see he and Extreme are back with a vengeance .
Loved watching "Brian May" listening to and talking about the "Get The Funk Out" solo, saying what a work of genius it was and how he wished he could play like that, he wasn't wrong, and what a compliment to Nuno to have such royalty say such a thing! When I think about "Extreme" I always assume that was referenced to Nuno's playing style he is absolutely "extreme" the way he plays!
Brian May is a fantastic player. There’s a good chance Brian can mimic the solo. Just like Brian could have handled the Spanish, maybe Flamenco, guitar work done by Steve Howe in the Queen song Innuendo. All that being said, Brian’s a humble guy and recognizes great players. Nuno is an amazing player. And the genius shows in his playing but what’s better than his playing is conceptualizing of the music. Many guitar players can practice enough to be able to play the piece, but could never come up with piece originally. And that’s why I say Brian May could probably play it. With enough practice. Brian knows genius when he hears it.
@@AaronAbernethy Because a player doesn’t, doesn’t mean he can’t. May has been a player for many decades. We’ve never seen him play fast like Nuno. Ever. But I’m saying is that if May sat around and worked at it long enough, he’d have a good chance he’d pull it off. The genius is not in Nuno’s fingers, it’s in Nuno’s mind. Millions of fast hands that play. Millions. Nuno writes the stuff. That’s what I’m saying. May can figure it out musically. Note for note. That’s the easy part. And in time find enough dexterity to play it. Just the one piece. May would never be Nuno. I’m not trying to say any such thing. May understates his own gifts. But he loves to point out those that do have serious chops. Nuno being one. One above most. Nuno is in a small group of elite shredders that May is not a member of. Nuno is one of my favorite players, ever. Side by side with Steve Vai. It’s ok to have a favorite. Relax.
EXTREME...... THE MOST UNDERATED rock band in 50years.......NUNO has that something special same as JIMI, Jimmy,Alex,Eric,Joe...... I think you get the point ☝️🎸🎸🎸🎸 Guitar God's ALL

Paul Gilbert is the master. I'll never forget when I heard the Street Lethal album when it first came out. My jaw hit the floor. And still does to this day with this guy. Nuno is a close second to Paul Gilbert. Two of my all-time favorite shredders. 🤟🎸
Always thought it's so weird how Nuno's tone is so not pleasing to the ear, but he makes it sound so damn incredible! Anybody else playing with tone would not sound good. INCREDIBLE!
I admire the hell outta the guy, he's smart, is humble and pays respect to his elders, i.e. Brian May, has great tone and is melodic, and is severely underrated even though he is a true virtuoso. Guy even looks the part, total package. Life is unfair lol.
Genius. I knew back in 1991 I'd never be able to play like him but still inspired to this day. He stands alone. Extreme were late to the 80s hair metal party and sadly grunge and other rock styles took over. But like fine wine brought out of the cellar you know quality when you taste it!
@@EdCollects cool. I wanted to see them when they came to uk but the dates were midweek or Sunday so couldn't go. Hope I get another chance. Saw nuno with satellite party in 07 but not doing extreme stuff. He did a bit of kid ego which was cool tho

I assume everyone here knows this is the tune that gave Nuno his start. This is from Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure; Beet Oven in the Mall playing the shyt out of the piano. Oddly, it was Nuno playing this on guitar.
I saw an interview with Brian May after he watched a solo from Nuno. He was blown away and said he'd never be able to play like that! Now THAT'S a compliment!

100% nailed it.... great comment!
Yep, the early 90s were not kind to a lot of hard rock and metal bands.
Extreme’s music was always meh. Kind of cheesy, I don’t think the grunge movement was to blame.
