It's an absolute delight to see three of my favourite Goodson-Todman shows being represented within the same episode, with Tom & Kitty representing TTTT and Peter & Mary namedropping Bennett Cerf from WML!
@@mrpuniverse2 The great Moss Hart, winner of the Pulitzer Prize, Tony award winner for directing MY FAIR LADY, Academy award nominee for the screenplay GENTLEMEN’S AGREEMENT, author of the best seller book ACT ONE (a great read), died in Palm Springs California on December 20th, 1961. This was 2 years later. Kitty Carlisle would still go on to sing DIE FLEDERMAUS at the Metropolitan Opera and head New York State arts funding for 20 years among other achievements. A Great Lady and sorely missed.
Kitty Carlisle was like Arlene Francis, in that neither of them were beautiful, but their charm and style compensated so completely that many viewed them that way.
Mary's face at 14:45 was very telling. Peter was known to cheat on her throughout the marriage. Watching this is remarkable when you realize that Mary still had almost 53 years left to live. She died at age 96.
Allen Ludden always says Dr. Reason A. Goodman, author of the forthcoming World Book Encyclopedia Dictionary. I wonder if that dictionary ever came forth.
Allen Ludden married Margaret McGloin on October 11, 1943. She died of cancer on October 30, 1961. They had a son, David, and two daughters, Martha and Sarah. Betty White and Allen met in 1961 on the set of his game show, Password, when she appeared as a guest. He proposed to Betty White at least twice before she accepted. In 1963, the couple tied the knot two years after meeting. Betty and Allen were married for 18 years until Ludden passed away from stomach cancer in 1981. Betty never remarried. When Anderson Cooper asked White in 2011 why she never remarried, she replied, "I had the love of my life. If you've had the best, who needs the rest?"
I seriously doubt that Kitty had a face lift because I've seen interviews with her and she has a lot of wrinkles! Though she aged well, she didn't age as well as Arlene Francis because even in her eighties, after an Alzheimers diagnosis, Arlene looked as lovely as she did on her What's My Line days! I don't believe Kitty wore wigs either.
I always liked Kitty Carlisle. She carried the glamour thing very lightly and just loved her smile.
She was always so pleasant and appealing.
Total doll
And her exclamations of "Marvelous!"
Intelligent, stylish wit trumps every other factor in making this one of the most delightful Password episodes ever.
This was the most hillarious episodes of Password I've ever seen! Only knew Kitty and Tom though.
Okay, no question about it, this is the funniest episode of PASSWORD, ever! Kitty Carlisle plays this game like an animal out for a kill.
Tom and Kitty are adorable
Kitty was the definition of the word elegant.
I love how she showed up for work, wearing a simple house dress.
Huh? Never saw Kitty wearing a "simple house dress."

I love Allen’s “Hi Doll!” when he enters. He’s saying hello to his mother-in-law, wife Betty White’s mother.
His FUTURE mother-in-law. He and Betty didn't marry until June 1963.
No, he wasn't! They weren't even MARRIED yet
both Kitty and Mary lived to 96 year old both charming and both had long successful marriages and both outlived the husbands
Wow that's a great little bit of trivia!
PASSWORD Thanks.. Also Kitty's husband had died almost a year to the day of the shooting of this episode

@@password5737Yes, very little to only point out their age of death.
I just about died laughing when Kitty blurted out the password "butter" instead of the clue
Mary looks so beautiful with the shiny dress/gloves
Like Ann Bancroft. kitty, full of Life and passion.
This was really fun! Wish the 1st ever epi of Password with Tom & Kitty was on UA-cam
lla788 some of the very early ones are on here. I have them in a playlist
lla788 Who was on the very first episode?
Tom poston, got it in one, intelligent !
And he seemed like a very nice man, too...
This was a fun show!
"I feel like Jack Paar playing this game!" lol
Kitty's very famous husband, Moss Hart, had only been dead a year when this epidsode broadcast,
This was a fun show.
Kitty Carlisle was like Arlene Francis, in that neither of them were beautiful, but their charm and style compensated so completely that many viewed them that way.
Kitty and Arlene both had that darling mid-Atlantic accent, too!
They were unconventionally beautiful
Brilliantly funny
What a blast!

As some revenge, his career basically ended around this year...
Was Mary married to the man who was a contestant on this episode? I thought he was hillarious!
Gilda Radner did a great Kitty Carlisle.
20:58 excellent clue.
For remember I woulda said forget right from the start

not yet
He changed his name to Google...................
Evidently it did as in later episodes Allen would omit the word “forthcoming” when referring to the doctor’s Dictionary.
Allen announces it here

This was really a lot of fun!
Did they do more of this?
Kitty was really out to win. Not at all reserved like on TTTT.

Funny episode....Allen Ludden completely lost control of the show....lol
I would have said "agreement" for "contract."
Once again, Allen showed his ignorance by questioning Tom Poston's pronunciation of flacone. What a dope!
Silly...
"What do you do for a living?" "Her"
How did that get past the NAB Code of Good Practice?
kitty and that same wig she wore for decades.....wild.
to whom is allen Ludden sayin 'hi doll'
don't know what kitty is on but I will have some of it....
Allen says "Hi doll" to his wife, Betty White...
Lol nice try

I think they all had a "few" before the show....lol

When AMERICA WAS GREAT AND CLASSY AND STYLISH. NOW???? DANGEROUS AND DOOMED
Just tuned in...Tom Poston isn't married to Kitty Carlisle is he?
No!
Think he was a fellow panelist with her on To tell the Truth.
,
After 5 face lifts, and new wigs, Kitty still remains a drudge.
