    Interesting take on Stalingrad, looks like you need to place some thought on where and who you attack. Looking forward to the next episode.

    Thank you very much for these videos. I am a board wargamer and played a LOT of Turning Point Stalingrad (Avalon Hill) and recently the solo game of Stalingrad Advance on the Volga... I am very curious to play this now and just downloaded the content (if I can tear me away from my 4 characters in WOW CLASIIC HARDCORE now :) )...
    Great canal you have there both in board war gaming and this computer gaming.
    I prefer board wargames still (HUGE John Butterfield fan for 40 years already), BUT a GOOD computer wargame is always welcome (Pavlov's House and Undaunted on PC).
    Keep up the excellent work.

      I'm glad you are enjoying the videos and find them helpful. I too enjoy a blend of pc and board gaming, probably about even amounts if I think on it. I'm a big fan of Butterfield too, and had to quit WoW after 3 months many years ago because it was so addictive to me. And hardcore mode would be my preference too. :)

      So far so good. I heard they are tweaking some of the orders of battle, so the difficulty might change one way or the other.

    Looks like an interesting game. The newspaper is kinda funny. They change the picture on the right side and keep the same text, which has nothing to do with the pictures at all. :D

    • @ZillaBlitz
      @ZillaBlitz  Рік тому

      I enjoy the series quite a bit. And some things with the beta version might change, so the images/text element might be something that gets refined later. :)
      The text is always different, though, and unique to the stage of the game that you are going through. There is some redundancy, but for the most part the newspaper content provides information about short-term objectives, changes in order of battle, reinforcements, etc. To be honest, I haven't really looked at the images that closely, so maybe they are randomized a bit?

    The 4th Army is not the same thing as the 4th Panzer Army. The 4th Army was part of AG Center, & was at this time to the north under the command of GENO Heinrici. o/

    Thanks for the video and your great channel. For me, the only real way to play wargames is blindly, as this simulates the reality of not knowing where enemy forces are, where they are reinforced etc. and hence having to use reconnaissance and to make judgements without full information. After the first blind playthroughs, many wargames turn into puzzles, rather than strategy games. Unfortunatelly, though, many games are balanced around the 3-4th playthrough with full player knowledge (not talking specifically about this one).

    • @ZillaBlitz
      @ZillaBlitz  Рік тому

      Yes, I think that's particularly true with PC wargames. I've often said I could be a great general if I got to fight the same battle 5 times. :)

    Good video, this looks and plays very similarly to Wars Across the World. I wonder if the same game designers were involved in both titles. Edit: yes SGS have licensed the source code from WAW!

    At last a decent video on this, which may just get me to buy the game! (The default intro videos on SGS/Avalon Digital/Steam are done by someone who tries to go through the tutorials at super speed, ridiculously fast and impossible for one who is not a SGS veteran, to follow!)

    Ugh, remembering it from a prior series, BUT, that whole having to Detach things EVERY SINGLE TURN would get very annoying very quickly. At the minimum it should remember how you split them up after the 1st turn--so if you DID leave the 2 Stukas together and the other two air solo, they should come up the same way on turn 2. We'll see if they do or not--though via the magic of editing, you save us from that. ;-p

    • @ZillaBlitz
      @ZillaBlitz  Рік тому

      I actually like them all together. It only takes a few seconds to split them off and you're often pairing them up or grouping them differently each turn. It also helps to be able to see them all together at the start of the turn, because they'll have different damage levels.

    Are there NATO symbols? I personally dislike counters that don't use NATO icons. I know I am in the minority and probably unreasonable but, I can't change at my age.
    Anyway another great video.

      I'll have to check when I play the next segment, but I don't think so. The unit cards (that show up when you hover over them) have the NATO symbols on them, but it's a small part of the data card. I'm not sure if there is a way to toggle the NATO symbols on the units though.
