They remind me of yin and yang and given yangs name it's very appropriate

Maybe effect was intended, because now we can say, that both songs were about Raven: in first she was talking to Ozpin: "you wont take my life, i'm not your sacrifice". This volume she told Yang that there is no defeating Salem. She probably learned something about grimmqueen, something that made her give up.
As for the second: she was talking to Cinder, but there is a catch (there is always a catch). In this song she says "dont fear demise" but at the same time she was planning with Vernal to flee from Salem; she propaganded "strong live - weak die" but at the same time she did behave herself like a rat: attacked undefended villages, used on them cheaty maiden powers, attended academy (with Qrow) not to defend, but to kill... It all goes to the same conclusion, which Yang smartly worded: "Are you merciful, or are you a survivor?".
Raven just wanted an easy, peacefull life and was "strong" just enough so nobody dared to rope her into some $hit.
But Ozpin did, and thats where her story started
Yang has mommy issues way more than Ruby does since Ruby never even met Summer.

@@hdns4 Explain what you mean by Ruby has mommy issues? I don't understand what you mean. She doesn't even talk about or mention her mom like almost ever. Summer only gets mentioned maybe like 5 or 6 times in the entire show and most of those times are in Volume 1-3.
Yang definitely has "mommy issues". She clearly had a grudge against Raven for a very long time for leaving her.

@@peachesplums She breaks down over her mom twice and I don't reveal spoilers so I'm not going to reveal anything about them but there were existential circumstances that caused her breakdowns not "mommy issues" and Yang was part of the breakdown the second time.

I would hold off on Chibi 3 until a Volume makes you feel like you need it (which may or may not happen).
Rewatching RWBY is so satisfying, multiple times even, and especially the Beacon arc (V1-3). It's great to see the seeds of some later plot points being planted so early and to know that, in some fashion, the vision has been there from the start. Also music cues existing in the soundtrack before the full song exists yet.

- The art for "Triumph" looks really close to if its not straight up Shirow Miwa's in his RWBY manga adaptation. Which if its a fanartist goes to their credit cause I love Shirow's style.
- "I don't know what else to do." hits so damn hard in 2022 (mostly as a progressive/left leaned type). Also Smile really does give a look into why Ilia went the route she did xD
- All Things Must Die is definitely the music I put on for when I need a hype rush, such a great "fk you' song towards an enemy xD
- This Time goes in-line with the recurring theme of songs of Blake's always having 2 parties in them, though this lyric vid art (no shade towards the maker) does get it wrong in who the 2nd party is going by lyrics that match Ghira not Sun.
- rofl, catching the soul-mate eyes aspect, though there's also another layer to it that's been shown if you catch it xD I'll prob elaborate when you get to a particular part of the show xD That's not even diving into stuff in DC comics that basically slap you in the face with the soulmates setup xD
- Imo the "lies" the lyrics reference would be Blake's mentioning that she's not going anywhere, cause Yang is essentially in cynic mode. All That Matters is basically a gayngst filled "I am absolutely head over heels for you but think its one-sided" love song xD
Anyway I'm totally with you in regards to having places free from the negativity, where people can just enjoy the damn show. Like that's the whole point of media (aside from expression anyway), an artist putting out something that others can enjoy. My threshold for being "nice" to people, especially in regards to LGBT+ or RWBY overall has been thoroughly drained out, because of my spaces being constantly overrun by that kind of garbage.
That being said and not to bring too much negativity, just as a means of conveying info that you may not know from someone that has been in the community for years now: Judgemental is one of the HTDM that basically exist to shit on the show, its characters, and even the crew because it didn't do what she (or her sister) wanted. The increase in hate, if there was an increase and not just a continuing trend of it, could easily be because of her shout out; since the ones that follow her would very likely be of the type that can't stand someone praising the show and not slamming it. This is also me legit biting my tongue hard cause otherwise I'd be going into scathing commentary territory xD

Personally, I would disagree about Critter being part of the HTDM (though I definitely think a lot of her fans are). Back when V7 and the first half of V8 were airing, her reviews of those episodes were very positive, and while her reviews of the latter half of V8 were negative, I don't think she bashes the show like other HTDM creators.
@@yelloturkey The vids I've seen from her and the stuff she's said on socials = she's HTDM easily in my book. She's even put herself alongside her sister, y'know the one that acted like Ruby cutting off Tyrian's tail in v4 was villainous, as well as her commentary towards the crew. She's not the worst but definitely in the vein.

The Path to Isolation is coded language about Weiss losing her mother to alcoholism, in part.
The way Schnee Manor was depicted in Volume 4, it feels like a physically cold and very unwelcoming place....many grand empty halls with just Weiss wandering through them...a physical representation of her isolation.

Glad you feel the same way about the toxicity as many of us "normal casual" fans do - Its honestly quite disheartening to read comments on many reactions where ppl are just trying to poison the well no matter what and I have honestly never seen this amount of this kind of toxicity in any other fandom. I have seen ppl who deliberately write spoilers just with the hope of ruining the good moments for someone for example.

Being a RWBY fan for awhile now and watching it for awhile now I know how toxic this Fandom can get from certain people. I will admit this is one of the most opinionated by some fans to ruin it for the diehards that just want to share a beautiful piece of art. you said it when you told everyone that you just enjoy seeing what comes next instead of being told watch this. just sit back and enjoy. the haters are very vocal especially after monty passed and the show took a turn. believe it or not to this day they take montys ideas and add them to the shows fights. example is the raven and cinder fight. one of montys ideas from way back. so there is no merit to bash this show.

I'm late too, I joined soon after volume 7 ended. I do have some cool news though, they will sometimes go on galaxycon, basically free livestream Q&As. I've seen so many good questions, like their character's Halloween costumes and other fun stuff. And you can get autographs from the voice actors too! They're expensive but it's cool to have one

Ice Queendom is a side story that I predict will wrap up before the Fall of Beacon; you could probably watch it now but I respect your instinct to hold off until you finish Volume 8.
Ice Queendom is done recapping as of episode 3, and is primarily an original story taking place between V1 and V2, so I don't think it'll make it anywhere close to the Fall of Beacon.
We've been discussing it in the community that writes those reactor guidelines, and we're thinking of putting it in "watch V4 first" for now, but that may be updated to "wait until after V7" depending on events.

That's very true. For a long time I've thought about making a post on like reddit or something about why Sun and Blake is a better pairing than Blake and Yang, but I fear that it would just get scrutinized so I've never committed to it.
But part of what i want to talk about would be spoilers for anyone not caught up. But just... Sun is objectively better for Blake as a romantic partner than Yang would be if those were the two options.
But it's a fictional show. No need for anyone being offended. Just giving my opinion.

@@destroyerofnirn3537 If I'm being honest, I think the reason bumblebee is shipped so hard is because RT likes to please their audience. So I think writing wise, they've been going that path because of the community. As someone who writes romance stories to send to a VA on UA-cam, I spend a lot of time creating characters, what they're character needs are, etc. Not saying I'm a pro, just that I've spent time on it.
Sun fills more boxes and would just be better for Blake for other reasons. I honestly don't think any of the main four should be in a relationship by the time the show ends just due to their current struggles.

I couldn't stick around for the whole thing but I did see the first 30min or so of the stream. I just have to say I can't wait until you see the Adam Character Short. It's by far the best short ever released for RWBY. I also want to discuss Adam more but I have to wait at least until you're done Volume 6 before I can say what I want to say. Love all your reactions but for me personally Volume 4 and 5 were the weakest in the entire show both the actual episodes and the music did not live up to what we got in Volume 1-3 and what we get in Volume 6-8. I still liked it but it's just not as good as the rest of the show.
Also I don't know if anyone's told you this yet but Volume 6 is where the show really begins to take off. It only gets massively better both in story quality and animation from 6 onwards.
I blame RWBY for my depression. It’s what got me into anime and anime got me into stories and then I started writing, and depression and inspiration is like two sides of the same coin for me. And my favorite part of anime is how depressing and deep it can get, which really causes me to think, and then I’m in my head for hours on end. So, that is how one of my favorite shows ever gave me depression. That was my TED talk.
That's not really what depression is but it definitely sounds like you have something to get diagnosed. It could be ADHD. There is a symptom of ADHD where you end up overthinking things a lot. I have both ADHD and Depression (among other conditions caused by PTSD) and having inspiration block or constantly overthinking things is closer to a sign of ADHD than Depression. Again though you should get diagnosed by a medical professional to know for sure.

@@WolfZBB People often pretend to have mental conditions online without actually having them so I have to always check. Saying "you sound depressed" is not a diagnosis. Did they actually say you have depression? You should probably see a psychiatrist not a therapist as they'd be able to identify exactly what you have not just general conditions. Saying this as someone who's been to many doctors.
The funny thing about the RWBY Fandom's toxicity from my experience is that it's in every faction of the fandom. Every group has it's own subset of toxic people, and they all seem to have this tendency to be towards the show, and then immediately blow up on another toxic group of the fandom which just causes this cascade effect of some forums and threads devolving into these toxic cesspools.
You got writers, animators, artists, fans of individual characters, shippers, people who can't accept even the slightest criticisms towards the show/company no matter how valid said criticisms may be. The latter two are the worst, at least in my experience.
I rarely meet a BMBLB shipper that isn't toxic for example(If y'all are good ones please talk to me, I'm dying to meet some of y'all cuz you're elusive as hell for me lol), and that has thusly led me to... "hate" the Blake x Yang ship, in most cases anyway. Even when I explain that to them, they still yell and whine about how I should like it anyways or how if I don't like it, regardless of reason, it makes me a homophobe.
The white knights or whatever ya wanna call them are just the same thing, but they almost exclusively go after people who give criticisms of the show as a whole or Roosterteeth as a company, valid or not. I've seen some of them get into these arguments that essentially become them trying to gaslight the people that agree with even some of the criticisms not even all of them, and try to drive them into shunning the person giving said criticisms. Frankly, a perfect example of this are the so-called "fans" of Unicorn of War, that being the person who coined the term "Hatedom" to describe all the needlessly toxic people within the fandom(who see themselves as the fandom,and everyone against them as said "Hatedom" ). He, one day, basically decided to, paraphrasing his own words, "stop being willfully blind to the shows flaws" essentially, and instead decided to take a more critical approach to the videos he made on the show. Not even really saying the show was bad, but more so just pointing out how some things could have been done better. Basic, simple, honest critiquing of a show he loves. How did a portion of his fanbase respond? They proved that they themselves were a part of the "Hatedom" and had the audacity to say HE was a part of the "Hatedom". Needless to say, the very person who coined the phrase, now hates it. As he should,it was honestly a stupid thing to do in the first place because all it did was divide the fanbase further by creating a term with no concrete definition which devolved into something people throw around to say "this person doesn't agree with my opinion so that makes theirs wrong". I can't blame him though. Again, paraphrasing his own words, he was blinded by his rose tinted glasses at the time, and rushing to defend his perception of the show, however flawed. We've all been there at some point in our lives.
You also have people in my group, those of us that have become mostly apathetic to the show and the company, both the good and bad aspects. How are people in my group toxic? They lash out at the other toxic people for trying to drag them into their own toxicity, even if said person wasn't actually trying to do so. Basically, they become the dog on a chain connected to a post where, unless you're someone that they know implicitly, they bark growl, and bite at you if you get too close.
I, personally, have just grown tired of all of it. Thus, I dropped the show halfway through Volume 8, and now gain all my enjoyment of it from enjoying the reactions of others to it. That, and the music, because if there's one thing the fandom can agree on no matter what, it's that Jeff and Casey are more or less musical gods.
All in all, I still love this show, but the toxicity within the fanbase really has gotten completely out of hand since Monty passed away. It's basically drained me of all desire to keep up with it on my own time because I can just tell that somehow the fanbase will keep finding ways to hurt my enjoyment, even indirectly. It's a shame how this show that got so far because of how much the fans love it, is now being ripped to pieces due to a twisted version of that very same love.
