I am back with another cocktail book for the Sunday series and today is all about Whisky cocktails. Do you like highballs cocktails? Let me know if you are Whisk(e)y cocktail fan?
Also, I believe the rye and ginger came out of Prohibition. Rye was Canadian whiskey which was as close as Americans could get to straight rye at the time. The name stuck after Prohibition and on the eastern seaboard Canadian whiskey was a substitute for rye whiskey which was an American whiskey
Never knew the connection between Canadian Rye and American Whiskey. It is something I wasn't aware of, to be honest. I like the history behind it. Thanks for sharing.
Whisk(e)y cocktails are great. There is time for both straight whisk(e)y and cocktails, but I strongly encourage people who love this spirit to start experimenting more with the many great cocktails out there. Thanks for the book review and the cool recipe and video; Cheers!
I think the more neutral Canadian works best with ginger ale. Especially with its nuanced rye spice. I find it actually works better than a straight rye which overwhelms the ginger ale. Maybe a lime garnish or a 1/2 ounce lime juice or maybe lemon
I love Canadian because it is so smooth. Usually, when I make my highball, I use lemon slices or a little be of lemon juice. Like works as well. I guess it is personal preference, and find out what works best for you and your taste.
@@JSOS Yes, the sound seems a bit off... try getting it even closer. Maybe if needed reframe the shot. If not try getting a better microphone, but even them I would try to get it as close as I could. Maybe even a lav mic, or simply a boom mic with a longer boom arm than gets closer to me but still outside of the shot. ;) Have a great day! :D
@@cristianpuscasu1245 I think I used audio from my camera and synced to the videos in the episode. Maybe the syn is off. I am using ride video micro, but last week, I got the tentacle track E. It's a lav audio recorder syncing to the same frame rate, so I'll be trying this. So far, it works really good 👍
Nice video today. Back in my university days, rum & cokes and 7 & 7s were common... and sweet. Today I have less of a sweet tooth, so maybe I will try this drink with and without the simple syrup, in case the brand of ginger ale I have brings enough sugar to the mix.
We all had this moment of rum & cokes; I think-the evolution of life 😂. If you use dry ginger ale, you will need a little be of the sweet modifier. Otherwise, I found it too dry.
I think the London Essence ginger ale you used has about 4g of sugar per 100ml. Here in the US, the major brands have 10g sugar per 100ml. So I think I will try it both with and without the simple syrup and see which seems better balanced.
Love a good whiskey highball. I really enjoy simply whiskey + ginger ale (I like Fever Tree) just 2 ingredients but I’ll have to try your recipe. Cheers!
The simplicity of the Highball is amazing and many people don't understand how much they are missing. I recently convert my brother to a Highballs and now it's all he drink haha 😂
Yes, my friend. You got it correct. 1 us fluid ounce = 29.574 millilitres For easy measures, it's rounded to 30ml. I didn't know it would be a problem for 0.5ml.

@@JSOS Now th here were Canadian ryes and rye dominant blends but the style originated in Pennsylvania and Maryland
I would love a long history of the Highball. Something to listen while doing other work
I am on it. Must prepare all of the writing and record the video.

Thank you, my friend. I am with you on this. People should try new thing and be more open to new things.
I love whiskey and ginger. Great video Georgi and LOVE the new setup
Thank you, Carl. I am enjoying the new set. Much more space
Ginger Ale, Ginger Beer, or just Ginger in general is one of my favorite mixes in a cocktail.
Live it as well but it is so easy going it's a dangerous highball if you don't stop in time 😂
Scotch Highballs are good.
Simple and easy.

Get the microphone closer to you... I think the overall quality will improve! Great vid!
Cheers. The mic is 1 meter always from me. Do you mean the volume or the actual sound of the voice is not good quality?

I'm going to have to add this book to my collection, thank you for sharing!
You should get it. I have the link in the description. It is a cheap book but an excellent little read.
I think I delete one of your replies to Tim by mistake. So sorry 😩
@@JSOS no worries!
That's a great book, will have to look for it!
It is an excellent short selection. I have the link in the description. It is worth having it and it is very cheap.
Good one. I drink that a lot
Cheers Tony
Yes, will be great if you make the highball dedicated video. :@) Cheers!
Ok. I guess I have to start working on it

You cough in your hands an then take then touch The ice with the palm of the hand that you cough on it.
I hope the cocktail is for you.
This is my home bar and every drink I make is for me. Glad you enjoy the video and find something positive 😎
