    My uncle was a firefighter in Calgary and knew Keith Hart. He told me how he had told Keith that I was the biggest Bret Hart fan in the world. A week later, an autographed picture of Bret Hart arrived in the mail to Toronto where I lived. I knew it was really from Bret too because it had his signature three vertical dots after signing his name that I had caught in a documentary. I still don't know exactly how it all happened, but I always thought that was just super cool of Keith to coordinate, for Bret to bother signing, and for my uncle to surprise me in the mail.

    Bret is by far the best to ever throw a punch, headbutt, kick in the game - watch any of his matches everything looks legit real. Some of these guys who call themselves stars today are like too kids pretending to hit throwing fake ass haymakers (yes moxley you) bret was the guy that made everything look 100% real and gripped an entire generation whether you cheered for him or against he’s the guy that made michaels, Austin etc look even better than they already were…they were class but having bret to work with made their matches legendary.

      Literally everything he did looked smooth and believable, and he never hurt anyone despite making it look like he was genuinely killing them with everything. You can see the difference when people like CM Punk try to wrestle a "Bret Hart" match. No one looks as crisp. No one looks as legitimate. No one looks as smooth. He did it seamlessly and told the best stories in the ring.

    Also as a west Canadian in the 1970's it would be rare for for Bret to see any other wrestling. He was also known to always be home when he wasn't on the road, so catching wrestling on the road would be quite difficult. So when Vince took WWE national in the 80's that's all Calgary would be able to see.

    • @AlbertonBeastmaster
      @AlbertonBeastmaster 2 роки тому +1

    • @mattthomas1442
      @mattthomas1442 Рік тому

      @@AlbertonBeastmaster Yes also it's not the move set that makes the match and what Bret was talking about with Flair. It was the repeated formula of face on offense, then heel dominates, face gets a hope spot before heel uses underhand tactic(usually a low blow), heel goes back on offense before the hot finish. Bret would mix it up, yeah he would close with his moves of doom but even then it wasn't always the end of the match. He would get cut off sometimes before closing the match with something different.

      I mean the more realistic style should be a Stu Hart hallmark given he was both an Olympic level amateur wrestler and was taught by legit shooters from when matches were real grappling events like modern day submission wrestling (ADCC, NAGA, no-gi bjj, etc.). Bret being trained by his dad should mean that some of that old school realism from the grappling aspect would be a foundation for overall realism even if some other wrestlers did influence Bret.

    I’m not sure the Dynamite, Brett Hart comparison is fair or accurate. They both trained under Stu Hart so they were going to have some of the same moves on their skill set. Stylistically Dynamite was more known for his high flying moves and probably had more in common with Owen than Brett.

It's a big reason why Rick Flair's WWF run wasn't as huge as they though it would be, a lot of kids who grew up on WWF and Hulk hogan didn't know who Flair was, or Dusty, or the 4 horseman.

    First off no Bret Hart slander is acceptable 😁 I can't really say Midnight was better than the Harts. As a kid u pull for the good guys back then but reflecting to me the Hart Foundation with the technical guy and the muscle guy worked fluently. Bobby and Dennis were kinda the same wrestler to me. Stan had a little more flavor but they all were medium sizes 230 and under guys. U can't really say that either paired to either on the other team that Midnight was better. I know it's a team but still. Bret Hart my favorite wrestler of all time! When he went singles. That's when I caught up to his greatness 😁

Owen favoured more of the high-flying style.
