Great work..... How did you find out the datasheet by reading the crezy wierd printed number on the chip ?

Yes, I did look up the markings and also was able to confirm that the pinout was the same by looking at the PCB.

For the soldering, is there any reason for not using hotair instead of soldering iron?

I noticed my st link is not showing a red light when I plug it in, the light is blue. It won't connect to the target unless the light is red, do you know how to change that or what causes it? I have 4 st links and 2 have red lights and 2 have blue lights. I have upgraded all but the the oldest link (about 2 years old) its light is red and it works fine it has J34 on it and the other ones are J37 or newer.

To be honest I'll have to look more into this. Do they both work? Because the I had the same thing happen where one of my ST-LINKs has a blue light and the other is red. Both work. I've seen many different ST-LINK clones and they have all worked well for me.

@@mycrostartelectronics no, the blue lighted ones won't connect to the target. It is only when the light is red that it connects to the target. Once it connects and I start the program flashing the light on the link flashes red and blue.
