Same. The mouth burn was something I could easily handle, but the searing pain I felt INSIDE of my body was something else.

Doing Jonny's suggestion to eat a peanut a day from the Tube of Terror. On day five I think, but may go to two peanuts instead of one. Hope to do the challenge soon. His suggestion for building tolerance works. Habanero's don't burn much any longer and I ate my first ghost peppers, red and chocolate. They were small peppers though but were great. I am now addicted.

Nice work. All kinds of new flavors open up when you have the tolerance for them. Its also nice that those tubes are huge, for $15 not a bad way to get adjusted.
Awesome dude I did the same thing when I first started watching chase the heat like 4 years ago. Don't fool yourself though while the mouth can handle more and more peanuts the stomach will need way more time to get acclimated to that type of capsaicin flowing through the gut. If you're gonna do the whole tube then you will be in for a ride on the pain train lol cheers brother!
@@danimayb thanks for the reply. Digestively I've done good through the ghost. Had bad capcramps once early on by making a salsa with Dave's Insanity original, but I was stupid and ate it on an empty stomach after drinking coffee and smoking a cigar, not ideal prepping I guess. Since then just basic digestive irritation, nothing bad. Not sure how that will be affected moving into the higher shu peppers.
In a way they opened a door for the independent challenge makers.

I've done this challenge and I agree.. let it be known I'm not a chilli head but I like spicy food. People were surprised on how I reacted to this challenge I was cool about it but like 3 hours later it messed my stomach up. I wouldn't suggest eating a few chips or more because of the stomach aftermath. Love your channel. Peace Brother..

It's sad because of the coverage of this story, I know people that started bringing the bags of Ghost pepper chips back to grocery store because of this story. The same grocery store has hot sauces on shelf 5x hotter than even the one chip for sale. Misinformation sucks
The person drowned after drinking too much water. Excess water ingestion lowers the body electrolytes (salt, potassium ect) and the heart, kidneys, liver and nervous system collapses. So technically the chip didn't harm but trying to quench the heat did. A new warning advising what not to do after eating the capsaicin rich foods might be necessary.

I absolutely love the haunted ghost pepper chips by far the best chip on the market. I had that chip once and i had bad cap cramps still a fun trip.

I'm a chili head. I did the 1 Chip Challenge. My tolerance is nowhere near yours, but for me, it was about 6. It was pretty hot for about maybe 5 minutes and came down very quickly. No stomach issues. It was on the weak side of many challenges I've done.

Not trying to be a tough guy but i consider myself a Chili Head of Sorts. I enjoy putting " The End " Flatline sauce on basically everything, and i enjoy hotter than most enjoy things, but i gotta say... the Pacqui 2022 chip.. i EASILY ate and went the hour without water, No Problem... UNTIL about 20 minutes later... it Turned my guts into a Knot. Worst i have ever dealt with. Do not know why. Kinda why i have my 2023 still in the box. Something about the Pacquis just knot my guts up
Here in Australia I got the paqui haunted ghost pepper chip bag about 2 years ago. I could eat about 4 or 5 before it cooked my mouth. This African guy i worked with ate half the packet like it was doritos cheesy. Didn't crack a sweat..

Johnny - Antacids is what they do. I had The Last Dab out on the table when a relative was over for dinner and I told him not to put more than a tiny drop on his food. He didn’t listen. It burned him pretty good, but the next day - while he was on a flight to go on an Alaskan cruise - is when it hit. He thought he was going to have a heart attack and went and went to the ER in Seattle. They quizzed him about what he ate and gave him some antacids and sent him on his way. I couldn’t help but laugh. I warned him, he ignored it and paid the price!

I fancy myself a chili head so a few months ago i bought myself a paqui chip.....i was surprised how hott it wasn't. It was hott, just not as hott as i was expecting it to be. However, after about 15 mins i felt the chip in my stomach and let's just say it didnt stay in my stomach for much longer. I don’t regret doing it, but it's not sometning i ever plan on doing again. So hats off to you brother and thanks for the great content. 🔥

I used to be a chilli head. Then I had my left lower saliva glads removed. It's damaged my trigeminal nerve and black pepper gives me mini seizures.😒
That chip looks far more brutal than the ones I've eaten in the past.
After I did the 2022 one (that blue dye) I swore it off. I didn't have issue with the heat, I had issue with the flavor and the dye! I've had the cap cramps, and the dye chewed up my stomach in ways I couldn't fathom. The flavor was terrible too. Didn't even bother looking for the 2023 one... I did quite enjoy the Chip Duel though, it was actually flavorful. As an EMT, I've run a few to the ER after doing the OCC too.
Dude you are a champ! I tried my best when I did this same thing to hold out as long as I could . Sh*t, I prob made it two minutes and I went right to the ice cream because that’s all that worked!!!! And you are like it’s nothing :D! I was hurting for hours from this!

Yup, did this challenge a couple of years ago and absolutely nothing happened and I am not anywhere near your level of tolerance. I expected to have at least some discomfort, but I thought that their Ghost Pepper chips did a better job bringing the heat. Oh, well. It was nice of Paqui to send out that kit and it was some damn brilliant marketing.

It wasn't the chip that was fatal for the young man, it was "water toxemia"...he drank too much water after eating the chip looking for relief from the burning sensation.
The first part of your sentence is correct. The second part is bulls4it speculation.
It may not be deadly but I had a hiatal hernia repair and thought it wouldn't be a problem. The night after I ate it I could feel it tear my repair and follow up imaging confirmed.

I spent a year working up the scale until I got to the carolina reaper. I then made a curry with A reaper, scorpion and ghost chilli, that curry was the only time I have nearly failed on a chilli challenge. Along my chilli journey a couple of things I learnt(the hard way) where:
1-a decent cheese helps cool down the burn, something like a mature cheddar or red Leicester.
2- most fluid make it worse, although milk or yogurt help.
3- learn the process of the bodies reaction to eating hot chillies, that way when certain symptoms arise you can teach your mind to think logically about the process, the worst thing to do is panic.
4- it will be unpleasant, it will be painful and for a short period you will regret it.
5- before you try super hot chillies build up a tolerance. Dont go from crying eating a jalapeno to feeling like you are dying from a reaper. Start with a jalapeno once you can comfortably eat that move up to the next on the scale and repeat this process until you find your limit or reach your chilli goal.
*This is just my personal experiences and what helped me achive my aim but it might not be the same for everyone.*
Definitely a preexisting condition did that. Johnny you would be proud of me, kinda, I'm a school bus driver and one of my kids from highschool who sits first seat with a few others bc we joke around and they are pretty funny, says hey Zach want a chip, I said okay what kind, he said lime tortilla. I said sure, and reached my hand back. You guessed it, it was the same thing your doing now. I think I am the only person in the world to do the one chip challenge while driving a school bus, now that wasn't my intention for all the freaked out parents out there, that was definitely not anything I was thinking about nor would I ever do. But I survived as the did the kids. It honestly wasn't that bad and I was shocked bc till this I had never eaten anything that hot before
I agree with you. It's telling to me that no autopsy report has been released although an autopsy was performed. The family has to consent to the release of the autopsy report and they really have no incentive to do so particularly if it shows that the chip was not the cause.
This year I ate this chip in the 7/11 where I bought it (just to entertain the workers who were really cool and appreciative); I ate it when my tolerance was extremely low and it was no worse than a 2 for me (resulted in one tear in the corner of my eye and I did have to blow my nose once 10 minutes later)
As of a few days ago the family says they are still waiting for the report.
An autopsy can take up to 12 weeks to get the results. It doesn't happen overnight.

So how does it compare to the haunted ghost pepper chips, because I eat the large bags in one setting. The worst is don't breathe until chewed so you don't inhale dust, and don't rub your eyes, which I always seem to do! 😅
Yep last 1 chip I had was fine… maybe 4-5 for me… did get the Cap Cramps after 20min or so lol that is never fun!
I almost regret never having eaten one of these, but I know where I can find superhot chips from other companies. That said, it was fun watching people's reactions while it lasted. And I figured you'd eat it like it was nothing.
I also did not like the flavor. I of course did not handle it like a beast like you did lol. I kept saying.. this tastes bad and all it is, is pain. Enjoyed watching you slay the chip!
I can't wait to try the tube of terror. I plan to anyway.

The Tube of Terror is awesome! I would recommend buying two and using the first tube to try a few at a time to build up your tolerance to the point where you're comfortable attempting the whole tube. It really is a great challenge!
I've tried this. As a new 'Chili Head' I'd give it a 4 out of 10. It's nice because the heat lingers. Chips get stuck in your teeth, unlike a pod or hot sauce. I'd love to try a 'Tube Of Terror' I'm assuming they'd have the same lingering heat effect.
I did this year's chip and felt like my stomach was on fire for almost a week. It definitely could be dangerous if eaten by kids or anyone with major gastro issues
I mean, it literally had warnings all over the package that it's insanely spicy and shouldn't be consumed by everyone lol. I just don't understand why it got all the blame.

I did the 2019 challenge, it was spicy but not hot.
Once I drank pre workout every day for a month. After a while my stomach started hurting when I would, so I stopped. After a while I figured enough time had passed, maybe a month or 2, I drank 2 monster energies because I wanted to try the flavors. I put baking soda in to reduce acidity. My gut started hurting so bad I thought I was having a kidney stone. Bending from sitting made it hurt more, so I was planking in the car. Doctors just told me to take some drug that reduces stomach acid production. My gut hurt for 3 days afterwards. I still can't drink any even if I take the pill and put baking soda in it

I also learned too much baking soda can increase acid production as your body decided it's too low.
I have a reasonably high tolerance (not compared to yours honestly) but we did a massive wing night, finished it off with the Reaper Squeezins extra hot and the Mad Dog Silver (big amounts). Someone surprised us with these chips after. I figured why not, can’t be hotter than a massive Mad Dog Silver dab. The chip was fine technically but definitely hot. The issue is I ended up getting extremely light headed. I was ok and after 2 hours, I vomited multiple times and had the most painful stomach cramps. It was an absolute disaster. I wouldn’t recommend this product at all, it doesn’t taste good, isn’t particularly hot and absolutely destroys your stomach. Reaper Squeezins is hotter and it has never caused any issues other than the ring of fire haha. Cheers!

I gave one too my friend after I ate one and it put him in the hospital.
I did the paqui. Did the one chip. And recently the duel with pepper x. Nothing compared to a grown pod that i also grow every year in the garden. Thats just show with the chips or tortillas or whatever. Nothing compared to a fresh fruit. My worst was a 7pot bubblegum, i will never forget the felt heat. In comparison the reaper felt way weaker. For a chilihead theres alot personal tolerance speaking and the type of capsaicine. When you're adepted the stomach ist the prob, not the mouth.

Loved doing the one chip challenges. The burn wasn't the bad part for me. It was the cap cramps after. But like you said, it does pass!

This video reminded me of a story that I've been meaning to share with the channel for a long time but would always keep forgetting. I used to make my own hotsauce using various dried chiliest amongst other ingredients.
One night, I had a pack of dried ghost chilies laying around and a friend of mine said that chilies had absolutely no effect on him. I was in disbelief and stupidly told him that if he had one straight up, then I would too. So he ate his ghost without so much as an eye blink and looked at me for my turn. I took it down like a champ, but within two minutes, I wanted to die.
BNow, it wasn't so much the pain that hit me, but it was realization that neither of us planned this out. There was no milk in the apartment nor dairy of any kind. Like you said in this video, 911 nor the emergency room would do much for me, so I started eating bread, which didn't help at all. I knew that capsaicin was not water soluble, so water wasn't going to do much good, but out of the corner of my eye I saw a fresh bottle of Trader Joe's extra virgin olive oil. I grabbed it and must have chugged at least 1/3 of the bottle and finally found some relief. Now that was well over 10 years ago, and I'm happy to say I'm not so stupid now 😂
This was well before I found your channel Johnny and I'll be the first to admit that I'm not on the bus YET.... if you can recall an action movie that has a car chase with any character that's so determined to get in the vehicle that they're just hanging on to the hood of said vehicle with the tips of their fingers.....yeah that's me 😂

I honestly don't know what this year's chip tastes like or how hot it is, because I did it right after doing Mikey V's Gator Toes and a Scoville Slammer. The hardest part was not puking after doing those back-to-back-to-back. 😅
I ate one of these. The heat wasn't really the problem, it was the cramps in my stomach an hour later. That and it tasted like sand.

I just don't get it, I've tried these and the duel chip and I don't even find them hot??? Like im find the 2x spicy noodles are hotter than these. Am I missing something? What surprised me, was how hot it wasn't. I don't have your tolerance but Reapers are fairly easy for me. This chip, I figured it would be hotter than a Reaper... not even close.

Thanks for calling BS on this one, Johnny! Not just because of the lawsuit but because it just isn't that hot. It isn't good either. Still have 3 left and I'm not eating them, not because they're too hot and I'm certainly not afraid of dying. I had high hopes cuz that Naga Viper is a stinger. Sigh...I wish they would make another one like the first two that tasted good and just ramp up the heat a little.
