The cinematography in this film is absolutely brilliant. Almost every frame could be a postcard and when you add on top the cast and story.... just perfect.
It was mis-sold as a comedy, when there's no humour in it at all. The storyline isn't believable. 15-y-o bullied outcasts do not get to kiss - let alone have sex with - pretty girls. Why wasn't there a sex scene?
One of the best coming of age movie. Its so underrated though. I perfectly enjoyed the movie & Its something what i'd like my kids to watch. I cried, smiled & happy to accidently stumbled upon this movie. Tsk. Simply brilliant film. OST is the best too .
studying this film in gcse film studies. I’d seen it before but i feel it’s better each time you watch it. once you analyse it you really understand the film more. great film, very underrated. highly recommend.
I recently watched this film a few day's ago it was a masterpiece I loved it. Richard Ayoade thank you and those who helped promote and make this film thank you. Yes this channel as well.👌👏✌☺
+Olga S. His films are great! We worked with him on both Submarine and The Double. And we interviewed him about that film, too: ua-cam.com/video/e7VwdrJekn0/v-deo.html
+Film4video Thanks for the reply. Amazing that you have the opportunity to work with & meet such talanted ppl. Maybe you have some advice on where I could apply if I wanted to do an internship in the film industry in the UK?
+Olga S. Definitely check out 4Talent - they handle all internships, work experience and so on at Channel 4, Film4, E4 and so on: 4talent.channel4.com/

He also co-created and directed Garth Marenghi's Darkplace - which is a comedy series, but I'd say one entirely in a category of its own.
I just finished this movie about 3 minutes ago. I don’t really know how I’m supposed to feel about it. But I know that I loved it and that I’ll be thinking about it a lot in the coming weeks.
This film was definitely not what I thought it was at all, but then again no new film will ever be how you think it will be. It was purely fantastic, showing a boy struggling with his parents relationship and also his very romantic relationship with a girl called Jordina, in his whole life in general but what he died and what happens over the course with it. Such a fantastic superb film by an equally fantastic superb actor/director.
I just wish the movie had suck to the books chronology and details more, the characters and ambiance in the movie are so fun and nice but they feel like completely different stories to me
I'm waiting for him to tell a joke I have a hard time with him not actually being dean learner movie was great though it just needed a Cameo by mat Barry to be legendary
If you can't cope with listening to his voice I suspect you are watching the wrong video. Or perhaps you have ADHD? Either way, maybe just stick to Disney Channel.
Man, I wished Richard Ayoade kept directing more movies.
HIs film The Double was pretty good
Submarine is really a gift to the world
exactly
Me too
It's a damn shame that he only has two movies
The cinematography in this film is absolutely brilliant. Almost every frame could be a postcard and when you add on top the cast and story.... just perfect.
Great film, highly underated in my opinion.
HGaho The Double even more so!
Yeah but The Double didn't have much of a plot really.
didn't it? I found more plot in that than Submarine...
Maurits I couldn't find anything from it to take a plot forward. But it's a great film visually, which I will probably watch again.

My absolute favourite film. The soundtrack is sublime, the performances were marvelous... i loved it!
Did you love the fact that it was mis-sold as a comedy when there's no humour in it?
Andrew Smith it is a comedy. I frequently laughed out loud at it. Its just British humour.
Of course the soundtrack was good the goat Alex turner made it

Better than Fast Times at Ridgemont High?
He said that it's one of the best.
Came for Alex Turner, stayed for the movie
and Alex Turner.
That goes without saying. He deserves an Oscar for those songs
Came from Alex Turner, stayed for the movie, Jordana, & Alex Turner.
it would have been great that alex turner would have appeared for few seconds
@@lentejuelasazules8320maybe as a future Oliver Tate 😂
Ayoade is just such a loveable person in so many respects!
Richard Ayoade... WHAT A DUDE

This is the most serious I've seen Richard ever
This is one of my favorite movies of all time
Amazing Film! Well worth the watch. Incredibly nicely filmed, really enjoyed different perspectives
Ayoade, such a magical human being!
richard looks great with a beard
I just finished this movie about 3 minutes ago. I don’t really know how I’m supposed to feel about it. But I know that I loved it and that I’ll be thinking about it a lot in the coming weeks.
Underrated in so many ways! But, I think he revels in that, a bit.
He is quite brilliant!!! I would like to see more from him!
I wish Richard would drop the IT Crowd act and be his charming self more often. Any time he's on a quiz show he has to act like Moss
I just want him to keep on talking. Such a great director, and an amazing film! :D
great interview, wonderful movie
never knew he directed Submarine 👏🏼👏🏼
i never even knew he was a director
@@jevari7 his first film
A simply wonderful film (and book as well)
Who wrote the book? and is it also called Submarine? Sorry, I couldn't quite catch what he said in the video.
Such a humble genius
I've just finished my milk.
and now I'm going to kick ass ^^
LucyRJ Cecil so true!
LucyRJ Cecil then your lips taste like it?
Nice countdown it crowd reference.
I saw the movie just because of Alex Turner, cause he made the soundtrack but I really like it.

Simply amazing film.
One of my favourite films , incredible soundtrack and great story line.
Oh how I love Richard Ayoade!! He is funny, so creative and just so gorgeous!
He is SSSOOO adorable !!!!
Love it! Richard you rock! Great film, thought-provoking, a creative one giving rise to new worlds ; )

Zazie dans le metro is one of my favourite films as well, dead chuffed! I love his style. Great cast too.
Wonderful film. Something about it reminded me of Harold and Maude. Totally different story so possibly the direction.
Note: just did a quick Google search - apparently I'm not the only person to see the connection.
probably the haircut
this movie is really really beautiful in all its aspects
His voice is satisfying
What?! It's painfully boring.
@@andrewsmith74 why are you shitting on the movie and Richard in every video I've watched about it so far?
Love this film so much!
one day ill make a film like submarine
kd I’ll wait my love
Yeah!
lemme act on it🤷
And get Alex turner to make the soundtrack again 🙆
You got this! Can’t wait to see, kd.
Did anyone else catch what his favourite film is? Something "on the metro"? Some help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
+crashbashify Hello! That's Zazie dans le Metro, the French film directed by Louis Malle: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zazie_dans_le_M%C3%A9tro
+Film4video Thanks for that, good to see active communication from you guys.
Very true. Aren’t many british coming of age films
I love Richard 😍😍😍😬
1:54-1:57 what are the movies he mentioned about? 🙏
I love u , Richard.
The guy from the IT Crowd directed a great movie?!
Two great movies
I can't take his commentary seriously after watching Darkplace.
I LOVE THIS FILM. Thought I’d let you know.
i felt so bad for his poor father 😭😭

Why was this serious drama film falsely promoted as a comedy?
Its both
Love this movie
Favourite Movie
He forgot Gregory's Girl.
Gregory's Girl?
Translation please in Russian
vocal audio is over compressed
thank you Tom
Jordana Bevan. love you
hey its jamarcus
AJ Rajan you mean Jerome?
Jamarcus is Ayoade’s character from “The Watch”.
sorry, but after it crowd i cant take Richard Ayoade seriously :) great movie tho
It wasn't a comedy???!
Good film not great tho
You need to have a certain type of mind to understand it
And the prize for most boring, droning voice goes to ............... Richard Ayoade!
If you can't cope with listening to his voice I suspect you are watching the wrong video. Or perhaps you have ADHD? Either way, maybe just stick to Disney Channel.
