    Great work Ana. I like how it takes a smaller footprint but allows for plenty of storage vertically as well as built to use a 3/4” sheet of plywood to make it a solid build. The Kreg 720 Pro is my favorite to date as well. 👍

    This video brings back so many memories of my grandfather who was a carpenter. I still own the dresser he made me 58, almost 59, years ago when I was born. The bad part about my dresser is my youngest daughter took a knife to the edge of the top of it & it really upset me. But the damage is done now & I can't do anything about it either. Wish I had a good carpenter who lived near me.

    Thank you so much for these very informative videos. Just got into doing some "basic" wood working and looking to advance my own skills. I notice you use a crown stapler a lot for your wood working, especially attaching pieces together like the back of the dresser to the frame. I don't own a crown stapler but have a 18ga Brad Nailer. Should I invest in a crown stapler as well? Thank you.

    May I ask...how much did all materials cost and total time of labor PLS.
    I've been trying to build dressers myself, but trying to figure out the total cost of something like this and time

    • @AnaWhiteDIY
      @AnaWhiteDIY  6 місяців тому +1

      Yes of course
      This dresser took me three days, each day about 4 hours. This includes ripping wood and gathering material and finishing.
      The cost is estimated about $150-$200. I use locally milled 1x6 and 1x8 boards and it is significantly cheaper, but plywood here is ridiculous, so hard to give a definite estimate. This dresser is inspired by a $1300 dresser, www.potterybarnkids.com/products/camp-drawer-chest/?catalogId=10&sku=8658914&cm_ven=PLA&cm_cat=Google&cm_pla=Furniture%20%3E%20Dressers&cm_ite=8658914_21215262696_aud-1187756525248%3Apla-2299963402265&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw4MSzBhC8ARIsAPFOuyV8-w9h3xc3qpXaubMphjdH5hnEuZl5wnV5uYHGyPKMVjHZtbh8FD8aArsnEALw_wcB so while not cheap, much less than buying!

    Finished design looks fantastic painted white. If I was going to build this, I would want to consider modifying the plans slightly to accommodate a 1/4" thick back panel, instead of leaving the back open. Ana, do you find that leaving the back open affects anything (e.g. keeping the frame squared up, etc.?) Or does it hold up fine with an open back?

    • @AnaWhiteDIY
      @AnaWhiteDIY  5 місяців тому +1

      Thank you
      In my opinion with the pocket holes and glue a back isn’t necessary. Of course adding a back will add considerable strength and rigidness. The easiest method is to cut a 1/4” panel so it covers just half of the 2x2 legs on the back, so it would be hard to see from the sides.

  • @feoxorus
    @feoxorus 6 місяців тому

    Why? A person can pick up a dresser for free almost every day of the week on the curb or shop thrift stores or the web for local ones dirt-cheap. Even if you get the wood for free you'll easily have $150 in the slides and pulls. Imagine all the extra time you'd save for making something unique by just refinishing a found dresser.

    • @AnaWhiteDIY

    • @markmeadows186

      OR....you find the joy in making one yourself. Not everyone wants to refinish a found or thrift dresser. You do you, but don't attack a person for wanting to make something from scratch either.

    • @someone2u28

      The ones on the curb and at the thrift store are more then likely built out of particle board and won't last.
