I though the same. But I think if he gets it running good, he might strip it all down and do a proper job of restoring it. I hope so. At the moment, he is still in 2 minds on whether to spend on it or not. It is still a 50 / 50 chance of it being good. I wish him all the best. :)

Flush the crank case with kerosene multiple times cylinder off
All that diarrhea in the crankcase will destroy the rest of the engine WHEN the bearings eat themselves
    Until it flushes clean
Then gas oil the lower end in 10:1

Sometimes spark plugs or often times spark plugs go bad. Try another plug. Denso is the best. Many times my bikes wont start just clean the plug or better yet get a brand new plug. But the coil probably got wet and corroded inside and is bad. But the wire on the coil could be not making good contract too. The wire could be corroded and not making contact. Some wires come off the coil and you can clean the end with a wire brush and sand paper. But a brand new coil or good used one might be the best thing.

You don't want to remove material from the head combustion chamber when cleaning carbon off. I saw quite a few glints of metal when you were done.

I understand your not trying to make it perfect and you don't want to put any money into it, But you don't spray paint over dirt... You could have taken 5 minutes and cleaned that had before painting it..

@@jodyhakamaki5602 I'm not going to restore this bike. I'll probably just end up keeping it for parts. I just want to see if I can get it running with zero money put into it. I cleaned the head but I did not scrape off the old paint. It doesn't make sense to do that on this bike. This bike is too far gone to make it look pretty haha. Thanks for the comment and watching though! I get where you are coming from!

that biscuit packet changes the compression ratio, i hope
it works it reminds me of fixing an old rm up when i was about 14 damn thing ran for an hour then grenaded itself big time. that’ll do mechanics vs precision engineering always ends badly. you must have a coil laying around somewhere but i’m guessing it’s a corroded earth or wiring issue with the birds nest from ignition

You should use Vernier calipers and measure a piece of the original base gasket and compare it to the cracker box as this will set the piston dome to top of combustion chamber height and mechanical compression ratio. The base gasket selection is somewhat critical.
