    ::SYNOPSIS::
    "Deck of Delirium is a PvE deckbuilding card game where you build your own misfit crew full of animals, pirates, animal pirates, pompous sailors, and even cultists to make your way through the perilous journey across the sea battling rogue pirates, sea monsters, and other uncanny enemies."
    REVIEW
    the short of it
    Overall game is okay. Since it is so short and minimal I hope it is more of a proof of concept or demo for something more substantial that is coming along the way. At the very least a player vs player mode would greatly enhance the experience. Besides being small and singleplayer my only real complaint is the amount of dead time inbetween turns. There's a sort of unskippable buffer time after placing cards or moving turns and it can feel like a drag.
    Hi, I'm Scurvy Banana and I made this youtube channel so that I had an excuse to talk about PIRATE themed games. If you want to see more pirate game content then sub. What game do you think I should cover next?
    the long of it
    Deck of Delirium is a roguelike card battler game that released for free on steam as of April 8th, 2024. It was developed by this list of people and published by DoD INC. I think DoD INC stands for Deck of Delirium Incorporated?
    In total you'll probably get a bit over an hour (maybe two) of play if you wish to play each of the three deck choices all the way through each of the three enemy battles. Potentially you can extend your gameplay while playing in draft mode which is essentially the same but it gives you a sort of randomized deck.
    Each deck choice is built around its own unique playstyle, in general, the cat Kibbles is based around FISHing in which case you will draw more cards. The mutant goat Morgreth plays to mutate and manifest while the makeup wearing man Brightside plays a bit opposite of Morgreth in which case he needs to avoid manifesting.
    Each card has an insanity cost to play and each turn grants you another insanity point to spend. Once ten turns (without mutations) have passed your insanity bar fills and you've manifested. When this happens all the cards change, including the enemies. I think this is an interesting mechanic however matches didn't seem to last long enough for this concept to feel fully developed.
    Once you bring your card into one of the 5 field positions it'll have seasickness for a turn before being available to attack. There is a 6th slot available for charm cards. In order to win the match you must destroy all the enemy cards and avoid letting them kill your chosen deck captain. Your captain has a lot of health and I feel it is difficult to lose in this game.
    As far as graphics go theres some nice digital painterly backgrounds and cartoony card art. I think it looks nice but nothing is mindblowing or standout-ish. I might find this artstyle enjoyable because it is so nostalgic to flash games I played in my youth. Perhaps thats my whole opinion on this game in general, it reminds me of a late 2000's flash game on something like kongregate or miniclip. Music is virtually nonexistant but theres some sea sounds in the background. When cards are played they also have quirky voicelines.
    Again, game is pretty short and feels very easy. It's hard to have complaints though since it is free and objectively isn't bad or broken.
