Just goes to show with the right skill set and patience these budget pipes can be made to sound very pleasant.

You did a fine job setting them up Ray. I know the work involved getting them to function to an acceptable level, especially tackling the tuning issues on the chanter. Cheers.

Thank you for this. You've proven that this can be done! I feel much better now 😁

good job, but it sounds like they are still very pressure sensitive, the drones are a bit dominant. but it´s a nice experiment. yesterday i´ve ordered some cheap uilleann pipe drones as an experiment. i´ll see what they are worth.

Thanks ! I've been trying to find time to do some updates. I intend to lower the pitch of the pipes with a different chanter and will make the drones more manageable.

Have you a detailed write-up about what you did to get them playing? I've had friends tell me that the Pakistani Pipes are almost unplayable, but I think it is a case that they just can't be bothered setting them up correctly and getting good reeds for them.

I haven't done a write up on setting them up, but it wouldn't be difficult, it's just a matter of having the time to sit down and get it done. Thanks for Watching !!!!

They sound more like small pipes, interesting

My wife just got me a set of pipes similar to these. They probably have a bit bigger pipes. She thought I could learn them. I am a drummer that knows some piano...Anyway, they do require a lot of work as they are way out of wack out of the box and I am not a piper. Pretty much the same issues. I think I will try to send them back. I think I would be better off with some Macallum poly pipes. I am handy fixing stuff, but I don't know if spending money on it for reeds and trying to fix the chanter are worth it. That said, you did well with them, but you know what you're doing.

Good Choice ! That was the main purpose of my video. In the end, for the time and effort these little pipes will cost the same as a set made by a reputable firm. Thanks for commenting ! I was waiting for some one to actually catch on.

@@RayMainBagpiper There's another piper out there from Texas that did the same thing and he didn't get as far as you did and he seemed to have quite the setup. He just couldn't get it working.

they sound alright if you don't play any G's or B's lol

LOL... actually B is supposed to be "discordant" but... not that bad, high G is a weird note and hard to get right. You can tune it straight and it doesn't match the other notes or for the harmonics and ... not quite. Thanks for the input !!

      Don't forget.... that's a practice chanter to boot !
