What a trip down memory lane! Always great to see people from the past show up!
Thank you all for the support!
Fun to watch along with you guys, like watching with old friends now. Thanks for all the vids.
@@marcuscato9083 that’s awesome!
OMG, ive been waiting all day for this, il love the the Kobra Kai, Rocky, and Hard To Kill reaction series you guys have, keep up the awesome work guys!
You are the dynamic duo 🤩 your reactions help me through my PTSD so much fun 🤟
It's a pleasure Schmitt & Samantha, cool reaction as always, you both take care
One of the best parts of this show is when they bring back a character, they don"t recast. It's great to see these actors reprise their roles.
I still can't believe the child actress who played that little girl Daniel saved in Part II came back. Those are always the easiest roles to recast, but props to the producers for sticking with the same woman.
@@doughbafett Word.
The only one they recast was Ali's mom.
@@doughbafett Character wasn't even given a name in KK2. I just looked it up to make sure and she was "Girl Bell Ringer." 30+ years later they track her down. Their desire to do it right and attention to detail is incredible. The actress won Miss Hawaii in 1995.
@@2Takki Oh yeah, true.
I doubt Ralph had to do much acting when Kumiko was reading those letters. Ralph and Pat remained so close that his family had Ralph speak at his funeral.
Actually, Ralph spoke at BOTH of Pat's funerals.
@@katemaloney4296 Don't know how I missed that. Tyvm
The actor who play Sato passed away a long while ago. I think one aspect that makes Cobra Kai work is that it's a celebration and honor to Miyagi and Sato.
16:20 such a subtle thing but I thought it was interesting when Kreese says "when our boy comes back" and johnny immediately thinks he's talking about Miguel and Kreese is referring to Robbie, later leading to Kreese going to see Robbie and Johnny to go see Miguel at the hospital. This show is so freaking good!
It's a double entendre. Kreese said things like "help him get back on his feet" and "when OUR boy comes back" which pointed to Miguel. But in Season 2, Kreese never liked Robbie learning under Daniel, wanted Johnny to take Robbie back, and simply referred to Miguel as "the Mexican kid" to Johnny.
Yep, clearly Kreese was talking about Robby but Johnny thought it was about Miguel. You even see Kreese face when Johnny said "stay away from Miguel". Kreese looked at Johnny as if he wanted to say "I wasn't talking about Miguel". What annoyed me most was that Johnny basically took Kreese's words and said them to Miguel instead of going to Robby. All it did was leave the door open for Kreese to get to Robby. It was inevitable anyway since Kreese has been harping on Johnny to make amends with Robby and bring him "home" to Cobra Kai since season 2.
TBR Schmitt: I don't know how this will help Daniel sell cars
Mr. Miyagi: Patience, TBR-san
The actress who plays Kumiko showed such strong acting skills in this arc. Her emotions are literally written all over her face in every scene.
Pastor Bobby (Ron Thomas) is a 6th degree black belt IRL.
This was the episode that set the course for many things to come. You could literally see Robby’s heartbreak in that scene with Bobby. Tanner acted that perfectly. Here Robby was opening up to give his loser father another chance and Johnny as usual let him down. The sad part is that Robby wasn’t even surprised. I think he was more disappointed in himself for having a little hope regarding Johnny. This kid let his guard down only to be smacked in the face by his father.
It is tough to watch the father and son dynamic between Johnny and Robbie... when Johnny explained to Miguel about how he could not even cross a street to go see Robbie being born because he was so wrapped up in himself... that was hard to hear and I bet he never told Robbie about that . Johnny has not yet behaved any better than he did when Robbie was born but he is slowly showing improvement in other areas of his life ; he just needs to turn that focus on Robbie .
@hippie Agreed. And my issue with Johnny has always been his lack of effort concerning Robby. He’s never made his son or their relationship a priority. I also hate when Robby is perfectly within his right to be angry at him, Johnny doesn’t take that medicine and accept it. He lashes out at Robby acting like he’s the wronged party in that relationship. He doesn’t listen and accept the consequences of those actions for being a terrible father, Johnny rather turn it back on Robby. How can Johnny expect reconciliation when he’s doing the bare minimum to make it happen? Robby’s forgiveness and trust are not just going to land in his lap. It has to be earned. I don’t care how many times my child pushed me away. Johnny is doing nothing but proving Robby correct in his thoughts by staying away. Imagine if Johnny hounded him, visited him, etc. regardless of Robby pushing him away. It would go a long way to earning trust because Robby would see that he cares and that he’s actually trying and making a genuine effort.
@@bestgirl726 It's annoying how quickly Johnny gives up on trying with Robby but goes the extra distance for Miguel. Clearly he has the capacity to go above and beyond.
@@LuckySmurf I think Johnny feels that his relationship with Robby is already a lost cause. Like, he’s already programmed to have a rough relationship with Robby. With Miguel, he has that clean slate he’s basically molded Miguel into who he is now. What started off as simply teaching Miguel karate turned into a real friendship.
I will maintain that Kumiko is Daniel's true love and only circumstance made it that they couldn't be together.
Yes
The first time I watched episode 4 I was crying trying to hold in my tears as Kumiko read mr miyagi's letter, I love every moment in each season when they bring back mr miyagi in any form, but this time it was way too much, that letter really broke me haha one of my fav moments in season 3.
I didn't think we'd see anything from KK2 when Cobra Kai first started, so I was pretty surprised when certain people showed up. Hope you guys and everyone else enjoyed this mini-twist as much as I did.
It was awesome! Can wait to see how Chozen impacts the show!
@@TBRSchmitt Whatever you might expect, it's probably wrong
This mini twist is a major twist. The writers are true fans of the Karate Kid universe. They have made the show with the ability of sucking in the casual fan as well as throwing Easter eggs out constantly for the true fan. The entire premise is based off of an episode of “How I met your Mother” and a UA-cam fan theory video, and a music video called “Sweep The Leg, Johnny”. Everything is on the table, even deleted scenes as flashback memories.
To get full enjoyment you should go down the UA-cam Karate Kid rabbit hole for several hours and every be ready for the references in this show to hit you.
@@PixelatedH2O or right, twelve episodes later.
@@thebluecollarbibleguy5114 I was trying not to say when to expect anything, as that could be considered a spoiler
"This school sucks!" Another line from the first film.
Sam laughing about the "soup kitchen/food court" thing was so funny and adorable. Your wife and you TBR are so great and bring others so much joy :) I love you both.
Fun fact, the actor who plays Chozen has a Hawaiian restaurant 20 munities from my house.
That’s awesome! How’s the food!?
@@TBRSchmitt I've never had it personally but I hear it's fantastic. Re watching this series makes me want to try it though so I'll have to make plans to do it. Love the videos by the way!
You should go! Maybe you will see Chozen there!
I'll admit I cried twice when watching Season 3, Episode 4. When Kumiko saw Daniel-san after he saw her first and when Kumiko read Mr. Miyagi's final letter he wrote before he passed away. It was great they got the same actress who played Kumiko over 30 years ago and the actor who played Chozen. The Karate Kid Part II is my favorite in the trilogy, so I loved that Daniel went back to Okinawa.
Also to note is the actor who played Mr. Sato, Danny Kamekona, passed away in 1996 and if I am correct, this was the last time Ed Asner played Johnny's stepdad as he passed away in August of last year, 2021.
Out of everyone who popped up in Cobra Kai I was most excited to see Chozen. You're in for a hell of a ride!
I love that you can totally hear Mr. Miyagi's voice when Kumiko is reading the letters. she did such a great job during that scene and I tear up every single time! I'm so excited for you guys to see the rest of this season, you're not ready ❤️
Season 3, Episode 5 is my very favorite episode of Cobra Kai.
11:50 Yes, Miguel already had the surgery. In an earlier scene, after Johnny gave the money for Miguel's surgery, they showed Miguel's surgeon (a blond woman from behind) that the writers meant for fans to think was Ali Mills, but when she turns around it is revealed that she is not Ali Mills. The writers knew that at the time of season 3, most fans were predicting that Ali Mills would return and operate on Miguel, as it was known that Ali grew up to become a pediatric surgeon. So, the writers of the show trolled the fans and teased her return, only to subvert fans' expectations. The writers of the show will do this bait and switch several more times in the series.
The reintroduction of Kumiko and Chozen is epic. More to come!
@3:17-@3:33 Samantha has her share of the blame, but at least she had the heart to visit Miguel even after everything that happened between them while Tory ghosted. Even if she weren't busy, Carmen wouldn't let her anywhere near her son.
As for Miguel, he could have kept the details about his condition to himself, but he chose to confide in her. He wouldn't share that information with just anyone.
Lastly, that card Sam got for Miguel may have been just a card to her, but you can tell it means a lot to him and that there's still a chance for them to put the pieces back together.
We haven’t seen past episode 4 but I have to imagine the love square between Miguel, Robby, Tory and Sam is far from over lol!
Kumiko always helps Daniel get to who he is.
A fun bit of information is Karate Kid II was filmed in Hawaii, but in Cobra Kai, it was filmed in Okinawa, so the actor has actually officially been to Okinawa now in real life.
Watching this show pay homage to the original Karate Kid movies gives me goosebumps every time. Watching your reactions when your Karate kid journey is quite fresh is priceless. The writers really know how to tug on the heart strings of all generations. Keep up the great work Daniel-San.
Finally!!! These are some of my favorite episodes. But, this series is just 🔥
Cobra Kai hasn’t had a miss yet!
Oh I’m so glad you guys are caught up to these episodes. I think episode five is my favorite because as you see in the end of episode four an old friend shows up. 😂 💕 “How does this help with Doyona” you ask? Oh you’ll see! 🤗👏
I grew up with The Karate Kid and Mr. Miyagi so the letter scene makes me cry every time.
"Rock and Roll All Over You" by Moody Blues plays in soccer game. Same song from ice break bar scene in Part 2.
15:44 While that is true for the actors, it is not quite true for the characters. In 1983 (when KK1 was filmed) Pat Morita was 51 and as of filming this season, Macchio was around 58.
In the fictional world, Karate Kid 1 took place in late 1984 and Mr. Miyagi's was 60 years old while Daniel turned 16. Season 3 of Cobra Kai takes place around 2018, so Daniel would be 50 right now. So he's still 10 years younger than Mr. Miyagi was when they met.
It's interesting how so many people like Hawk as a villain. That's never really been the case for me. He just keeps taking things too far.
And it's not even the furthest he's taken it yet. It's true though, people hate on Sam & blow up pretty minor faults on her part into something major to fuel that dislike whilst they love Hawk & try to excuse/downplay really messed up things he does. Background definitely has a lot of influence on it as Sam is the privileged rich kid & Hawk was a bullied character with low self-esteem whose confidence has grown throughout the show.
Yeah, it's like a TON of pent up rage and insecurity; so worried about being back and socially ostracized that he's gone way too far. I like all the characters, and I enjoy the arcs. I thought this and season 4 were excellent for character development. So far the show has been 4 seasons of great entertainment.
Same for me. There's being a badass and then there is being as asshole and Hawk is the latter at this point.
Hawk is very misunderstood!
I am not a fan of villain either.... he uses all the negative energy he got when he was bullied and turns it on others.... totally loosing focus on a balance . He expresses a lot of inner hostility and uses his past bullied experiences to gain sympathy from Counselor Blatt.... who somehow is always taking Eli's ( Hawk's ) word over anyone else . As long as people keep letting Hawk get away with things he will keep pushing them to far . He will learn a high price to pay as much as Johnny has.... if he doesn't learn from his mistakes soon .
Just to let you know, you guys are responsible for getting me signed up to Netflix again. Grr! :)
This was a great way to wake up with my coffee.... Loved this one so much. Through out these two episodes your reactions and comments expressed what I was feeling as well . I was moved to tears when Sam teared up while Kumiko was reading letters to Daniel... that was such a great scene . I get such a kick out of watching both your reactions and hearing what you think about what's happening so far ; it is a good thing you are not caught up yet and more seasons are coming .
It was such a good moment when Sam visited Miguel and gave him the Octopi card... they are so cute together . Then when Johnny visited Miguel and started giving him Johnny's version of a pep talk and it helped ; that was a cheerful scene for them. I am excited to see you both respond to what is going to happen and who is going to surprise you the most . I really like how the series has teamed up characters in both the romance and friendship areas ; there is a real sense of comradery with the cast .
I like how Demetri has really grown in his personality and being forward on and off a soccer field and Yasmine has mellowed out and not as rude as she was in the beginning . There is just a lot to relate to and root for with this series . Thanks TBR& Samantha ✌
Was never expecting the show to bring back so many people and its awesome. I just enjoy going on this journey again with you two.
My life has been pretty eventful as of late but this is something I really look forward to every week. I can’t wait for you guys to to see Season 4,probably the best since S1. Got the best reviews of the series so far. Also I just made the connection that you guys are Daniel and Samantha, how did I not realize it before?🤦🏻♂️
Great reaction video. Remember you guys got to watch in weeks what we've had to ponder for decades. Anyway cheers I enjoy your videos
It’s definitely been a big help and advantage to watch everything so close to each other or else we would forget more than we already have over the course of 3-4 decades haha!
Great and fun fact, and I FINALLY GET TO SAY THIS, The Karate Kid 2 was filmed in parts of Hawaii as Okinawa. In Cobra Kia, IT IS FILMED IN OKINAWA THIS TIME. And 14:10, IT IS!!!
I'm going to be so sad when you two get caught up. My favorite thing to do for the past couple of months has been to come home from work on Wed morning, have a cocktail, and watch you two enjoy Cobra Kai. Btw may I suggest Citizen Kane, it changed my life when it comes to enjoying great cinema. ✌️ & ❤
For me the following episodes is where S3 really kicks into gear. Cant wait for you guys to get to the next episodes.
Been waiting for this! You guys are absolute legends.
Hope you enjoy! Thanks for the kind words but we are just a couple of average Cobra Kai fans haha!
This show and the riders are so fantastic at callbacks to everything in the karate kid universe. And the ability for them to get all of the old actors and actresses back is great. You are right Sam is just like Daniel. After Daniel got into the fight on the soccer field he screamed this school sucks as he ran off just like Sam
Season 3 episodes 4 and 5, I think are my favorites in the entire series. I LOVED KK part II. Loved these episodes!
Okay see, THIS is what I loved so much about Season 3; they really did a fantastic job of bringing back minor characters from the films and making them meaningful and realistic and show that Karate Kid is a WORLD and every character is meaningful and has their place. Good sh*t man, good sh*t. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Look how angry Dimitri got when Hawk pulled that provoke a fight by verbally pushing buttons, and then pulled the puppy dog eyes to make himself look the victim. You know why he was so upset, Dmitri knows that is his schtick and he just got beat at his own game. He is angry that someone else wised up to that trick he considers his. Dmitri knows what he is doing when he is winding folks up and then acting the victim when they push back.
Great nostalgia in this episode, but it's not just for the sake of nostalgia. It forwards the current story line and has huge ramifications going forward.
I’ve been watching you’re reactions for a bit now. You are both a joy to watch. Great thoughts and perspective, really appreciate all you guys do.
Always a joy watching you guys! My favorite UA-cam reactors!! Warmest regards! Jeff
Thanks so much for the kind words Jeff!!
This show is nothing but perfection. This is how you make a sequel.
The good IS coming - and it's really worth the wait. You guys are doing great - just keep waiting just a little longer. Cheers from Canada!
I was looking forward to both of your reactions not Chozen coming back and you didn’t disappoint
“How is this guy not in prison?”
😂
There is a deleted scene from season 3 with Daniel and Kumiko. You should watch it, but only after you finish season 3. I think they should have left the scene in the series, it's really good. Not sure why they deleted it from the show.
What really killed the dinosaurs?
Hawk: ME!
I love how they honor Karate Kid II.
These were some of the best episodes , good to see the old characters return.
Oh the surprises keep coming this season guys! I very much look forward to your reactions to the second half of the season. It's a great one! Of course as you've said TBR, Cobra Kai really can't miss!
Some trivia for you. The fake Toyota head office is actually the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building in Tokyo that has been heavily CGIed and Tomi Village is actually filmed in Atlanta Georgia.
The next episode (s3e5) is probably one of my favorites if not my absolute favorite one.
I JUST REALIZED THAT MIGUEL'S ASTHMA WAS GONE
With Daniel in Japan you now see why I love this season
He wasn't talking about Miguel he was talking Robby, because he wanted him since Season 2 when our boy gets back up on his feet was figure, because he knew Johnny would instantly think Miguel.
Johnny, once again choosing Miguel over his son. That was painful to see.
The Cobra Kai guys didn't need to beat up that kid. Isn't it enough they stole the money. :/
I don't think Demetri is anywhere nearly as bad as Hawk. Demetri stood up for himself against his bully for once.
I agree. Demetri's my homie.
Your reactions are fun to watch....Knowing what I know, I love your speculation and wondering of how things will play out. And I will leave it at that.
u know what tho? i'm really glad bobby became a priest
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE!!!!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 IT'S HEATING UP EVEN MORE AND I CAN'T WAIT FOR YOUR REACTION!!!🤭🤭
Hope you enjoy and we can’t wait to continue!
@@TBRSchmitt 😁😁😁
I felt really bad for Johnny when Miguel’s mom asked him to stay & pray for Miguel’s surgery. If Robby wasn’t the one who kicked Miguel, he probably would have been brave enough to say “I’m so sorry. I have to go see my son. I promised him.” But how do you tell Miguel’s family you can’t pray for him because you have to go visit the person who put him in the hospital
I LOVE IT 💘...can't wait to see more of these Cobra Kais reacts..I love you guys
LET'S GO HAWK!
After all he want through in his life, he sure over-corrected... and he has a bad teacher (like Johnny and Daniel had with Kreese and Silver) but he's still a kid and I'm proud how far he has come. Now just hope he won't get worse.
Love Hawk.
Hawk attacks Dimitri because he sees the old version of himself in him; and he hates that version of himself.
Loved seeing the Return of Kumiko and Chozen, i think it's fair to say Kreese showing up at the prison to visit Robbie isn't going to end well
I can't wait until the next episode. It's so amazing.
Fun fact those are the same actors from Karate Kid 2!
Best part... "We use to have a SUBWAY.....Now we have a Jersey Mike's!!!!"....Bahahaha so much shade thrown towards SUBWAY!....
Can’t wait for episodes 5 and 6 to of the best episodes of the show 🔥
season 5 Cobra Kai is rumored to have guest appearance from "The Next Karate Kid"
TBR, Netflix announced Cobra Kai Season 5 comes out September 9th.
Awesome!!
I have been waiting for this!! Thanks :)
Awesome! Hope you enjoy and that it was worth the wait!
September 9th is when season 5 comes out, and the trailer looks incredibly bad ass!! 😎
I am so excited for the next reaction. You both Rock!
Yes I liked it already 40 sec in.
But that because I know it's gonna be good.
Haha thank you for the support!
Really glad to see your reaction; I was looking forward to seeing and hearing what you thought about this arc. On to Episodes 5 & 6 next Week! 👍🙂
Damn I forgot today was Tuesday. Let's Go! #CobraKaiNeverDies
Amei a reação de voces, inclusive estou viciada em todos videos de vocês Karate kid e Cobra kai.Obvio que vocês nao vão entender nada do que escrevi mas o fiz assim mesmo 😂 Apaixonada pelo canal de voces.Beijos do 🇧🇷🇧🇷
The thing that really annoys and amuses me both with episode 3 is how blatant the "Donoya" CGI additions to the Tokyo metropolitan government building are at the end. You don't even have to have been to Tokyo to notice. They're massively out of proportions too.
TBRS: How is this guy not in prison?
Me: Because American Law doesn't apply to Okinawa crimes. And even if Chozen had gone to prison, it's been 34 years and he would've been released.
Remember when Chozen held the knife to Kumiko's throat, Daniel told him, that killing Kumiko wouldn't restore his lost honour, and Chozen replied, "In their eyes it will". Chozen spoke the truth. Japanese culture is based on honour.
I think this may have been my favourite season of the show. While there is still inherent silliness to the whole thing, that's a feature, not a bug.
Almost time......episode 5 is phenomenal
Love this channel. Observation: Samantha tends to say, "Yeah...no" a lot.
Yeah no she does lol
11:39 Except he didn't do what he was asked. He was told to kick it off of the pole and he didn't follow instructions. You'd think Kreese would be all about following orders.
i cant wait untill next tuesday! dammit! love you guys
"How does this help sell cars?" -- Oooohhhhh, when you see it........
Stayed up late to catch this guys
Sorry for the wait! Hope you enjoy!
Side note. I'm so keen to see you guys watch Creed 2. My favorite film in the Rocky series!
I can't wait to see your reactions to a little piece in next episode it got me .you well know it when you see it.
Hawk’s hair didn’t get flattened in the helmet. Must be some strong hair gel
I think for character in this show I prefer Johnny/Miguel to Johnny/Robby any day. Honestly Robby was a mid ranking character at best during seasons 1 & 2 for me while Miguel was A+ & Johnny's obviously A++. In reality I agree I'd of explained the situation to Miguel's family & went to see Robby. But within the show I'm glad he sticks with Miguel. I think it's interesting having the story of a Dad/Son whose relationship has thus far failed & isn't repairable so they go more separate ways & rebuild apart. It's sooo typical & predictable when a story has a parent/child relationship that is sour (and both characters are protags or Protag leaning) that they repair & come together. Yes irl most Parent/Kid relations are good standing or get repaired throughout life. But MANY don't. So I like this story of Johnny/Robby begin separate.
Sam is leagues better from here on out. I like the aggression & her getting tougher. I much prefer this to her preppy holier than thou attitude she had during the other 2 seasons. She was bordering on Mary Sue status until now.
With Hawk, I again pose the question. Are you guys anti-villain or something? It appears you're suggesting that because Hawk is a villain that means his character isn't good or likeable?
Good reaction can't wait to see more!
I stayed up just to watch this, haha!
I kind of thought it was a shitty thing what grandma did. I still place most of blame on Johnny of course because it was his decision in end. But he literally did everything he could help out and support them. He even did it in secret in case they wouldn't take his money or possible look like he was trying to win their favor. If they forgave him that is great but they didn't need him right there right now and already know how much he cares about Miguel after everything done. If he had to be some where else to be it should be good indication how important that other matter is. And if they looked down upon for wanting to support his son would also be crappy of them.
Please keep going with Cobra Kai, you'll love it.
Still bugs me how bad it sounds to say he assaulted a minor. It was a group of high school athletes, high-school is old enough to be held equally accountable in a fight with any adult, it should be anyways.
I can’t wait for next weeks episodes they are amazing
