It's an underrated part of the Sierra. Everyone wants to go further north towards Bishop and Mammoth.
How do you get there ?
Hike in about 5-6 miles
Great area Huck. I fished that area 2018 & loved it. All the lakes in that area hold a lot of nice goldens. Enjoyed the video. 👍👍
One area I have always wanted to go and see is the headwaters of the Kern river. There are some HUGE goldens back there!
Nice video. If you get a chance go to bishop pass. South lake trailhead. No goldens but it has brookies, brownies, and rainbows.
I do need to get back there! Ton's of big fish in South lake too!

Awesome to see you post this! I've been looking into making a trip up to these lakes for a while now. It seems like most of the overnight permits are booked; how early in the year do you need to register to reserve a spot?
You should! They release walkup permits online 1 weeks before and I grabbed one of those. They release them every monday at 7 AM for the following week.

Great fishing out there, never had the Golden yet. How far is the Langley from #5? Thinking about bagging that one..
Not sure how far Langley is from 5, but the best camp sites would be closer to 2-3. I saw a lot of people doing Langley as a day hike.
