Team Ace of Blades🇬🇧!
Monday 29th January at 12:00 local time, Lizz Watson, Kit Windsor, Laura Langton and Beth Motley crossed the finish line of the World’s Toughest Row in a time of 47 days, 7 hours and 27 minutes. During the night and throughout the morning it looked like the team were going to overtake the Tidewaves but close to the finish they dropped a gear and got ready for the last moments together in their boat.
As already mentioned on the Tidewaves arrival post, the dockyard was packed with spectators and the atmosphere was amazing. As soon as the Tidewaves left the arrival area, the boat of team Ace of Blades was in sight and the audience loudly cheered them all the way in.🏁
The team call themselves ‘’four normal women from different walks of life, who just teamed up together to row across the Atlantic ocean.’’ We would like to add that they are a bit more than normal - quite inspirational in fact and show that everything is indeed possible with the right attitude✊🏼
When asked about the 47 days experience Laura said, “I think it's been a challenge from start to finish. You getting into the water on Christmas Eve to clean the boat and finding our daggerboard had snapped off was the first challenge. That was then followed by lots of broaches. Spending my 30th birthday at four o'clock in the morning getting a knock on the cabin door saying the tiller's come off, you need to come and turn the boat around. P.S. Happy birthday! But from start to finish, it's just been incredible, and I think we've just taken everything coming our way, and we've just tried to make it the best we could do.”
