- My son Seth and I took to the streets of Hasidic Williamsburg looking for the best potato knish ever. This was filmed what feels like a lifetime ago and I put it on the back burner. Today I'm sharing this little peek with you all.
Fun video. Seth is very personable. It's wonderful when adult kids spend time with their parents.
It's been a very long road and he's going off to college in September. I am grateful to spend such lovely time with him.
He is a very handsome young man.
Indeed! I have two adult children who are a true delight
@@FriedaVizelBrooklynHe's cute,I bet you'll miss him❤
Nice to meet you Seth. Your Mom is a very special lady. You’re lucky to have her!
😊 I’m lucky to be his mother
@@FriedaVizelBrooklyn You make me smile, Frieda. I’m happy for you.
Excellent mother and son adventure. So sweet to see your handsome son. He seems like a nice young man 💐
I really enjoyed the video. Your son seems to have a great personality and is enjoyable to watch.
This is so sweet. Your relationship with your son is adorable. Seth has such a thoughtful way about him. And a good head on his shoulders!
LOVED this! Your son is lovely. What a nice relationship you have♥
Love the interplay with your son. What a lovely lad
He's really a sweetheart.
I really enjoyed this video. Everyone seemed nice and friendly. Your son seems comfortable in front of the camera. Love to see more videos like this! Have a blessed day Frieda! 😊
:) It was a really fun day out. It was our first time filming and it was a bit weird to be in front of the camera but we enjoyed it.
When i was a child, we visited family in NY and got potato knishes at Jones Beach in the 50’s, delicious & a good memory. I saw your son in another video for just a few minutes, but this time he truly was your cohost. Great job Seth! I can see that you are a proud momma, rightfully so. 💙
So good to see your son in a video with you!!! A very nice young man!! You are blessed!!!
Yep. Still all look delicious.
I also love Seth’s enthusiasm for joining you.
Right now I live in Cuenca Ecuador, but the number one thing on my bucket list is to tour with you in Williamsburg. Thanks for another great video.
I don't get a love of visitors from Ecuador! I'm looking forward to meeting you :)
So much love in your community. Fantastic video.
I get comments on my channel and especially on Tiktok that if you go to the Hasidic community you get spit on. It couldn't be further from the truth.
Your son is amazing and I love to see you two interact, you did a wonderful job raising him Frieda!❤
Great video…I love knishes have and have eaten them forever. I am 76 years old and by far the best knish was my Bubbies, may she rest in peace. The highlight of visiting her in NY, was enjoying her cooking and especially knishes. Recipes were never written down, a little of this, a little of that, and they tasted the same every time. A taste that will never be replicated. Love your content.
So sweet to watch this mother and son outing. I hope to have a positive relationship with my son like that. He’s 9 months old. ❤ Your son seems like a very confident young man!
What a great looking, bright family! Your son is leaving you looking short, but I think he is already speaking like a professional tour guide.
"Is that Kasha?"
"No, it's quinoa"
Summarizes modern hasidic Williamsburg
I loved that video. So nice to see you two spending "mother and son time" together doing such a fun "foodie" adventure!
So good to see you and your son on this adventure. Thanks for taking us along.
So wonderful you have all these delis to visit in your search! ❤🇨🇦 Love the map. I can see us all replaying this video to note down the locations.
You can follow our footsteps and take the knish crawl on your own!
@@FriedaVizelBrooklyn No way, Frieda! My husband and I have decided next time we’re in New York you’re taking us! 😊
Just want to say that you are an amazing person and mother. Your channel it's such a treat
Delicious video. So lovely to see you & your son.
Love it. Miss having good knishes. I like mushroom knishes. This was very nice with your son.
Ya, no knishes in Israel! 🤯
Your son is delightful.A good son.
I Love seeing videos with you and your son. ❤
What a nice young man! Much nachas!! Hope you both enjoyed the knishes!
❤️
I am still pretty new to your vlog. I enjoy it so much. I am watching it as many as I can. I always pictured your son as a little boy. He’s a young man respectful and very proud of his mom.
Love the addition of Seth in the video! Lovely content!
The second shop. The owner was like I didn’t put my best work today and Frieda Showed up 😂. Loved it. Love the Potatoe knish
😂
@@FriedaVizelBrooklyn you know it’s true. I could tell the first place had better Knish bc how he acted. lol. The second one was a little embarrassed..
I grew up eating knishes as a kid on 13 Ave. I didn’t realize how much I’d miss them when I moved away for school and then again after starting my family. I try to get some whenever we go home so my daughter will know the glory of a hot crispy knish with mustard. My mouth was watering just watching this one!
great tradition to introduce your daughter to. I’m getting so hungry reading this comment!
I was born in Williamsburgh.... secular Jew. Moved away very young....6 years old. I remember my first friends Shmiel and Yidel Lax. G-d Bless everybody.
It used to be a very diverse Jewish place.
Mmmm Flaums knishes... I'll have to remember that next time I am in the city!
Love a good knish & you with Seth! ♥️
What a beautiful video!! I have tears in my eyes, my son and I used to be close, like you and your son. May you have many more beautiful years together.
You raised a fine young man..... Kudos to you.
🥰 this was so sweet
Sounds delicious! One of my favorite parts of your tour was all the culinary delights we got to experience. Green & Ackerman’s Dairy has the most delicious onion rugelach!
Wonderful video, Frieda and Seth. The love and affection you share comes across. I've enjoyed other videos with Seth. It was also enjoyable to hear the man talk about your Purim video and the other nice gentleman who talked about Seth's name. Of course, visits to the delis and restaurants were terrific, too.
I wish I was with you! 😋. So fun for you and Seth to explore together.
Love seeing you with Seth❤
Ohmygosh what a lovely young man.
This was the absolute best...you guys rock. So so happy I subscribe...
Great video, great edits, I watched till the end, and enjoyed it, keep em coming 👍
Love this video. Such a great connection between you and your son. Nothing like spending time a child.
Sick editing and good quality video.
used to love mrs stahl kasha knish when i lived in brooklyn thank you for your great channel
Nice to meet you, Seth. What a lovely young man you've brought up, Frieda! I hope he gets to make more guest appearances on your channel
I’m thank you dear!
Love the video
Wow you and your son make a good team can’t wait for more videos together 🎉
Yona Schimmels knishes next to Katz deli on the lower east side has the best knishes in NY.
I loved watching the warm and loving relationship you have with your nearly adult son. ( I'm saying nearly adult because he looks like he is college age) I have sons too and we are close yet I know many moms who are not that fortunate.
I LOVE knishes. I make my own and freeze them in big amounts each year. You are so lucky to have so many great eateries to choose from. I live in a community with virtually no ethnic fare, so I make my own. It works out well for me. These bakeries look so nice and clean.
They freeze so well! Great idea to make it yourself in large batches, this is a great food to bake at home. Mmm.
Another great video!! I am drooling!!
My mouth is watering for a taste, 😋really enjoyed this taste trip with Seth , and you , do more of these videos 😍
Luv your blogs. My husband grew up in Williamsburg Brooklyn and was so pleased to see this..
He isn't chasidish..his family was one of the last young Israel holdouts. We just got his mom to move from there. I forwarded this to her because she misses her home. Ty. I luv watching you.
I went to Brooklyn Law so I spent the greater part of my waking hours in Brooklyn. I really miss Brooklyn! Great food, so many different foods. So many different cultures to explore. Oh, these knishes look so good!
Baruch HaShem! Your Seth is such a lovely young man! ❤
Lovely to see you both enjoying yourselves, very respectful for your son to wear a kipa, next time a clear loud brocha, ;-)
Ha ha noted!
This video with your son is so cute
I'm going to try to make knish. Anything wrapped in dough with potato inside is going to be good.
I grew up in Brighton Beach Brooklyn. By far the greatest Knishes of all time. The long gone Mrs Stahls.
That was a cute mother son tasting trip. I love potato mushroom knishes. Thanks.😊🇮🇱💜
thank you Lauren! I love anything potatoes and anything mushrooms! add in dough… mmm!
How fun! Your son is so charming. I so appreciate you, and your son, for doing such difficult research for us! ;-)
Ha HA HA very difficult research!
Proud mama - as you should be.
Fun fact, this was filmed a good while ago. It was actually one of my early films. We were having a lot of fun and very new to the camera experience.
@@FriedaVizelBrooklyn I totally think you should do a food rating/comparison of the foods in Williamsburg with location info.... One month it could be pizza, another knishes, another rugelach, etc. I think people would love to get some type of comparison or rating of the food. I'd love to try out good food at one of the places sometime depending on how you rate it.
@@deejaybutch3r Yes, instead of a Michelin Star rating, they get a Frieda Shtern. That way people have alternatives to go to, if the top is full or closed.
Hi frieda lovely to see you with your son you must get a lot of nachos, lovely to see Williamsberg in the summer kolltov greetings from Jerusalem
Love the video. Potatoe, Kasha, blueberry cheese not at the meat restaurant but maybe at the pizza one. Your son is terrific...I know you must be so proud of him!
Awww thank you he's a really good kind, and he was so eager to help my channel if he could by being a part of it. Right now I'm trying to limit my sugar so all I can think of is how amazing a blueberry cheese version would be!
Flashback to the fifties where I grew up on 126 Lee Ave. Well done Frieda
What a wonderful video. Thank you!
Thank you!
Beautiful video!
I have never seen knishes like these! Flaum's looked like the winner to me before you got to the end... yum!
There used to be a Mrs. Stahl'sin Brighton Beach, where you could get sweet knishes. Cheese with cherry, blueberry others. It was kind of of like a hot cheesecake, so good!
Sounds divine
You’re a great mom. I think he loves you 😂. He does
I think so too 🤓🥰
Thanks for another great video
Thank you so much 🎉❤
This was so fun, a religious fraction culinary dispute contest ❤
It's WAR! 😂
Great video …a moment on the lips and a life on the hips ….your son is handsome ❤
Quinoa instead of kasha has me on the floor! The times they are a'changing!
I thought only Chabad would eat quinoa!!
@@meeeka you mean Pesach or regular? Bc we don't hold by quinoa on Pesach but I am seeing it more and more. ☺
Thank you Ms. Vizel and to your son for a wonderful video. I live in PA. I def need to make more trips Brooklyn.
Come visit, it’s lovely here!
@@FriedaVizelBrooklyn
Thank you, I will soon!
I remember eating knish in Toronto in the 90s, and it was like a brown minced beef filling with a liver taste, wrapped in this potato starchy kind of dough
When I had this kind of bready knish for the first time in Jerusalem, it was a bit of a shocker.
UPDATE: I called my mom. She's feeling fine, very excited to see this video. Anyways she said that this was Rabbi Strolli's knish from the venerable Stroli's deli, which I think is now the "Toronto Kosher"
Ha ha, your comment thread is funny. Thanks for all the insider info.
It tasted like liver because it was liver I used to go to Stroli's from school at lunch time twice a week in the mid 60's. The knishes were 10 cents.
@@mrzee4862 TEN CENTS!! Just imagine...
Such a nice video idea!
They all look really delicious! Great video!
Thank you!! L'chaim :)
I love knishes! Grew up eating them. Toasted in the oven, slathered in mustard. Oh, sweet memories!
Seth has such a lovely personality! What an enjoyable watch. Thanks Frieda!
Loved that. Ive never been to New York and the only reason i want to go it to mert uou! And to try the food you feature. Your son is so dear. He was such a beautiful little baby and hes all grown up. My baby is graduating from high school on Wednesday. ❤❤❤
Love this video!
Super cute. The map transitions were a very nice touch!
Nice video, really good production quality. I'm sitting in cold Sydney and actually felt a little warm seeing the sun in New York 😃🌄
I'm up in Newcastle. I cried tears of blood & wrent my garments when "Katzy's closed. They didn't do Knishes, but they did THE BEST Sausage Rolls.
I’m so sorry but not sorry we shipped the cold off to your side of the globe! We have lovely weather today, no coats
Yum that looks good.
Nothing like wording time with a child ❤
Now I want one!😅
How about four different kinds rather?
You have a lovely family.
I am a a Lubavitcher but whichever fleish is cheaper be it Lubavitch,Satmar,Debrecin & ,Breuer's,etc. as long as it is glatt or mehadrin I eat it. My community has the same thing some will eat only Lubavitcher Fleish & then some within in Lubavitch rival factions will not eat from one another & then you have those like me & I am a retired mashgiach so I know they are all the same as long as it is a frum community so I do not play politics & buy whosever is cheaper!! Outside of NY one can get frozen meal mart/Schreiber/Alle packing for way cheaper than any of the others!!! Besides when I was divorced it was easier eating by Belzer or Skverer relatives & not asking any questions :)
I appreciate what you're saying! The politics over whose butcher you go to is absurd.
It's not that simple. Different communities have different demands when it comes to kashrus. If your local rabbi tells you NOT to eat from a different kashrus, there might be good reason for that. The irgun shiurei torah channel has many rabbis in the field explaining this. Some even in english.
Love your channel ❤
so glad you’re here 😊
וואיי איזה הפתעה 🎉 הבן שלך וואוו . איזה כיף איזה אמא ניפלאה את . ❤🎉
Very Nice as I grew up in Brooklyn in the east flatbush area and how I miss the Jewish Kosher food stores I am now living in Tampa Florida and we have the Chabad Centers here but there is no knish or meal mart type stores but when my friends visit me from Brooklyn they always bring me a Nosh from Brooklyn Be and stay well
2003: is this kasha varnishkes?
2023: it’s quinoa.
😂
EXACTLY 😁😂
OMG last time I saw your son he was shorter even than me! Wow! No knishes in Hawaii - missing some of the food of my people 🤗
You can order from Gabila’a. The “square knish” people! 🩵
This video is Zis!
Aww, always a delight to see you with your son! Of course, now you've inspired me to make knishes. I hope my coworkers are ready!
Lucky them! What are you filling it with?
@@FriedaVizelBrooklyn Potato for sure!
I liked the video before I even watched. 😊❤
I’ve been a chef in kosher restaurants for many years and I’ve made (and eaten!) many, many knishes!!
and what of the kasha knish! oy, i remember the kasha knishes from yonah shimmel on housten lower east side from the 70's with such nachas! and the cold beet borsht and yogurt, by the glass, on tap, 75 cents!
